It's not every day that LEGO publicly admits a manufacturing defect in a product or an entire line of sets, with the manufacturer typically preferring to let customers come forward to their customer service rather than admit that there is. a problem. For once, LEGO is today cracking a statement confirming that the products from the LEGO CITY STUNTZ range are affected by a manufacturer defect. However, this is an incident of limited geographic scope: only products manufactured in the Mexican plant in Monterey and distributed in the North and South American markets are affected.
The problem: the two pins which allow the front wheel of these retrofriction motorcycles to be fixed to the chassis have an annoying tendency to break a little too quickly and the manufacturer specifies that the problem is being solved. In the meantime, customers affected by this manufacturing defect can obviously contact customer service to obtain replacement parts:
Some consumers in the Americas region have experienced breakage with a wheel element when playing with the LEGO® City Stuntz motorbike. This is a product quality issue and does not pose a safety risk. The fault is only present on LEGO City Stuntz sets on sale in the Americas and does not affect any similar sets available elsewhere. We want to provide our consumers with only the best possible play experience and have taken immediate action to rectify the problem, working on ways to ensure our consumers in the Americas also receive the same high quality play experience as those in the rest of the world. Consumers can also request replacement items by contacting LEGO Customer Services. |
This incident a priori only affects the markets mentioned above and we are therefore not directly concerned but keep in mind that if you decide to buy sets via the secondary market, depending on the seller, you could still you end up with a product made in Mexico before the problem is corrected. However, you can always get a replacement wheel through the brand's very responsive customer service.
