LEGO today unveils the VIDIYO concept resulting from the partnership signed with Universal Music and we therefore learn a little more about this new range intended for children which will highlight some crazy-looking minifigs, what the manufacturer calls the "BeatBits" and an application making use of augmented reality .
The manufacturer sells it as a safe environment where children aged 7-10 can "travel in the physical and digital worlds of play" with a "platform that allows them to experience play and music, a powerful and fundamental combination to their development, allowing them to improve their ability to connect with others emotionally and creatively". Quite a program, locked and a priori reassuring for parents who disapprove of their offspring straying all day long on Tik Tok.
To put it simply, the concept revolves around the dedicated application which brings together a selection of musical titles from the Universal Music catalog. We choose a title, we select the "BeatBits" which make it possible to generate special effects, we place the elements in the scene to be scanned in the company of the chosen minifig, we present the smartphone with the augmented reality application, we tap on the "Beatbits" to generate effects, we film the whole and the case and folded.
The resulting clip can then be shown to friends and possibly loaded into the app, after moderation. In short, not enough to distract the kids from Tik Tok and I doubt that the concept will prevail in schoolyards knowing that the majority of establishments prohibit the use of smartphones.
Regarding the minifigs that will be provided in the various sets planned, you will find them on some visuals which are circulating at the moment via the usual channels.
