NYCC 2013: LEGO won't be here ...

This is the bad news of the day: LEGO will not have a stand at the next New York Comic Con (October 10-13, 2013).

I have just obtained confirmation from the organizers and I had already suspected the absence of LEGO by scrutinizing several times thea list of brands present published on the convention website: LEGO did not appear anywhere.

The choice of LEGO not to participate in this event is surprising. In 2012,, the brand launched the TMNT range with great fanfare at this convention. The crowd was there and the media coverage was up to par.

Perhaps this decision comes to calm things down a bit after the fiasco at San Diego Comic Con 2013: The distribution of tickets to enter the raffle to win one of the exclusive LEGO Super Heroes minifigs had almost gone turned to riot and suspicions of manipulation of the draw by the LEGO staff had even been raised by different sites.

Without a booth and a strong presence, I doubt that LEGO will take advantage of the event to announce anything new. No exclusive minifigs either on this convention.

All I have to do now is get my tickets refunded ...
