Before the thing gets too big, I relay here this series of photos which is currently a mini-buzz among fans of LEGO on Facebook. Everyone goes there in the comments of their diatribe against LEGO "which destroys dozens of boxes instead of giving them to the needy or selling them with a substantial discount to AFOLs ..."
The problem is that we do not know if it is pure and simple destruction (I doubt it) or recycling (I think it is), if it is a stock of damaged products from a reseller's stock (probably) or from products seized by the customs services of an unidentified country (probably not), etc.
From the photos, we can see staff who seem to separate the cardboard boxes from the bags of parts, and that's it.
So, before you get carried away and join those who cry out to boycott the brand because it throws away its products instead of giving / selling / recycling them and those who, tear in their eyes, imagine all the little private children of LEGO who would be happy to unbox these boxes, even damaged, keep in mind that these photos have been uploaded on a facebook page without precise explanations of what they represent exactly and that the truth about these scenes of dismantling of LEGO sets is without doubt elsewhere.
While waiting to learn more, I put here some photos from the gallery in question for those who do not have a facebook account:
Just to convince you that this mini-range is worth a look, here are the official visuals of the six boxes of the LEGO Super Heroes Marvel & DC Comics Mighty Micros range.
If you plan to collect these small sets featuring iconic characters from the DC Comics and Marvel universes in "cartoon" mode accompanied by mini vehicles, don't miss this first wave which will be, if the concept hits the shelves, sooner or later probably followed by a second series.
If you have skipped these sets and LEGO decides to extend the concept, then you will be one of those desperate for these six sets to complete their collection ...
Note that the public price of these sets expected for March 2016 is set at 9.99 € and that the minifigs are all equipped with short legs of the "hobbit".
Minecraft and LEGO fans will be happy to discover the official visuals of the four sets planned for 2016. The others will just take a distracted look before returning to their occupations.
Whatever one thinks, this range has obviously found its audience since LEGO has continued to offer the different game universes in plastic versions since 2012, the year of the marketing of the first box in the range resulting from the LEGO CUUSOO concept (which has since become LEGO Ideas): 21102 LEGO Minecraft Micro World.
The full range today has 18 sets (includes the four boxes planned for 2016).
As I am naturally curious, do not hesitate to indicate in the comments if you acquire each year these sets based on the video game Minecraft.
It's the "sensation" of the day on eBay where the box is already selling for three times its initial price: The set 40166 LEGOLAND Train, apparently exclusive to the theme parks of the same name and planned for 2016, is already offered by several sellers.
If you like trains and more or less exclusive products, this box of 210 pieces and 4 minifigs (no rails in the box) reproducing the little train that goes around the park is made for you.
Otherwise, you can return to unwrap your gifts.
I hope Santa has been generous with you this year. In any case, he did his best to please you, I'm sure.
If you have already planned to resell the gifts you do not need, you can use the money collected to give yourself the Star Wars novelties of the first half of 2016: They are already available on the LEGO Shop (except sets based on the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens announced for January 1, 2016).
I specify for all practical purposes that the promotion allowing to obtain the polybag 5002948 C-3PO from 30 € of purchase in LEGO Star Wars products runs until next December 31, there is still time to benefit from it, just to compensate for paying the Star Wars novelties at a high price to enjoy them now .
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy New Year's Eve. Be indulgent with your loved ones, go easy on foie gras and champagne and be careful on the roads.
Note: the direct links to the novelties put online by LEGO have been automatically updated on Pricevortex. If you find any products whose link is missing, please let me know.
