6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape

The buzz of the day are these two images from the movie The Avengers, which will be released in France on April 25, 2012.

A priori, nothing very exciting on these two captures where we see Loki standing in the back of a pickup and preparing to face what could be a hovering helicopter blocking his way. In the background, we can see what could be one of the exits from the headquarters of the SHIELD.

But that's without counting on the most picky AFOLs, who immediately drew the parallel with the official description of the set. 6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape :

Loki is escaping from SHIELD headquarters with the powerful cosmic cube. If he succeeds, he could use it to wreak havoc on the world! Can Iron Man take to the skies in his amazing armored suit and chase down the off-roader speeding or will Loki escape with the cosmic cube? You decide! Includes 3 minifigures: Iron Man, Loki and Hawkeye.

Will this scene be the one from set 6867? No doubt yes.

Note that the scepter that Loki holds in his hand seems to be powered by a blue energy source that some already assimilate to the Cosmic Cube, which can be clearly seen in the scene below from the Film Thor (after the credits of end).

And if the scepter seems a bit small to hold the cube, it could actually be one of the infinity gems, in this case the blue one, which allows you to take control of the minds of other human beings.

Another little gem put online by Artifex with this review of the set 9492 Tie Fighter. With a special mention this time for the timelapse of the assembly of the wings.

Small message in passing to those who wrote to me to tell me that these are not real reviews. Indeed, here no comments or rating. But in my case, the 3 minutes of video tell me more about these sets than a topic in a forum embellished with photos not always successful and a few lines of comments. I obviously appreciate some reviews in the form of photos that have been the subject of a certain care, but I think that with this type of assembly, we go up a gear with regard to the visibility of the parts, the techniques of assembly or minifigs.

After having devoted several videos to the Super Heroes range, Artifex begins a series of reviews on the Star Wars range. The first set presented is the 9491 Geonosian Cannon, that is to say 1 minute and 33 seconds to go around this set of which the minifigs are undeniably the strong point.

And because on Hoth Bricks we mainly talk about Star Wars, but we do not forget the fans of the other themes, I put you below the video review of the set 10230 Mini Modulars that deserves a look. In less than 4 minutes, you will be convinced that this set is a pure marvel of ingenuity and miniaturization ...

Evening edit, Artifex has just added the video review of the set 9490 Droid Escape, here it is below:

New DC Comics Visual Identity

I am telling you about it here because the info is important for all those who have become accustomed for many years to the DC Comics logo as we know it so far. DC Entertainment vietn indeed to announce the radical change of its visual identity which will henceforth be declined in a personalized way according to the license or the medium concerned.

As usual as soon as we change something after long years of inaction, the fans cry blasphemy. Personally, I find this change welcome: it dust off the franchise and bring a nice touch of modernity to the various media.

The various franchise websites will be updated by March 2012.

The question that torments me is the following: will LEGO release a new version of its packaging for the Super Heroes DC range? No doubt yes, and I recommend without any implication that you store the current sets as much as you can, they are already collectors ....

You can read the press release in its entirety at this address and discover many visuals of the new logo available according to the universe.

Customs by JasBrick - Star Wars The Old Republic

Decidedly, the different trailers of the SWTOR game are already an important source of information concerning the future wave of Star Wars sets but also of inspiration for Jasbrick which offers us the cowboy in the hat accompanied by the two Troopers seen in the Return trailer that I am giving you below. The two Troopers come from Minifigure Maker.

JasBrick admits to being a fan of the SWTOR universe and I hope that he will quickly offer us other custom creations on this theme. I also hope that Christo will bring out some customs of Darth Malgus or Satele Shan to his sauce ...

The game brings in any case a little freshness in the Star Wars universe and we should feel it with the next sets dedicated to the game. I think it's a good thing that will save us the weariness of the usual remakes of sets already released. and the multiple identical minifigs that we all inevitably accumulate over the years.
