And they watch you in their speeding helicopter steampunk-post-apocalyptic-but-still-modern.
It is true that we are more used to seeing them moving around in Sandcrawlers. Omar Ovalle imagined a light machine allowing them to fly over the desert plains of Tatooine in search of broken down droids or spare parts to sell to local farmers .....
Once again, Omar gives us a device that could be part of the range System without any problem, and a beautiful visual for the box that would make us want to buy this set around the corner.
In the same vein, he offers us a version of IG-88, assassin droid and bounty hunter, in a Battle Pack including 3 droids and a speeder that I would have preferred black. Once again, the visual of the box is excellent, and would encourage consumption if the product really existed in the LEGO range .....
More fictitious sets in the flickr gallery d'Omar Ovalle.
This is one of the minifigs many of us have come to expect in this new LEGO Superheroes range. It will be available in 2012 in at least one set: 6858 Batman vs. Catwoman.
On the visual above, I have put side by side the two known Catwoman minifigs: the one from 2012 and the one released in 2006 in the set 7779 The Batman Dragster: Catwoman Pursuit.
No major difference between the two minifigs: The mask is identical, the screen printing on the torso is based on the same costume, and it is just updated. No screen printing on the legs and I almost prefer the face of the 2006 minifigure.
The advantage lies above all that the Catwoman minifigure version 2012 will be available in an inexpensive set, and you will avoid spending between € 15 and € 87 on Bricklink to acquire the 2006 version.
It is presented here with a brown whip, which I would have preferred black, but the tastes and the colors, it seems not to be discussed ...
Edit at 10:00 am : If you have just arrived, so you missed the broadcast on LUDO, you only have your eyes to cry on or the possibility of a replay on the Replay.
For everything else, there is Mastercard and the Blu-ray (€ 9.98) with the collector's minifig of young Han Solo or DVD (4.98 €) to order from Amazon.
9h27: If you are not yet watching TV, you need to get started right away, Star Wars La Menace Padawan is broadcast on the youth program LUDO (France 3) ...
Here is a BatMobile designed by OkayYaraman and which at first glance is not necessarily a miracle of innovation ... Intended to participate in the two competitions currently offered on Eurobricks and FBTB, it however hides an interesting feature that I let you discover in the video below. The result is ingenious, necessarily inspired by the world of Batman, but so trendy, that I had to show it to you here.
To discover more views of this MOC, the originality of which is not obvious, but is revealed later, go to the flickr gallery by OkayYaraman.
This is an interesting photo that Calin posted on his flickr gallery. It helps to better understand Christo's bias in the design of his Tauntaun Custom.
On the same image are gathered: The Tauntaun Custom by Christo, the Kaadu of the set 7115 Gungan Patrol (2000) and the Dewback of the set 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina (2004). By bringing the three creatures together, we better understand Christo's desire to produce a custom that fits perfectly in terms of design and style with the official Star Wars menagerie available in 2005.
The legs of the Tauntaun are designed on the same model as those of the Kaadu Gungan, the eyes are symbolized with the same hollow stud and the attachment of the harness is carried out in the same way for the three creatures.
A custom, if it must be original and creative, must be able to integrate perfectly as here into the range from which it is inspired. Too often, I see customs that do not respect the LEGO "codes", and the quality of the creation is devalued by the lack of consistency with other minifigs or characters in the same range.
Today, we have enough perspective on the evolution of the minifigure over the years to allow each designer to draw inspiration from what has already been done and adapt the design and dressing of his customs while maintaining the LEGO aspect of the final product. A custom minifig, like an original LEGO minifigure, must be kept simple, immediately identifiable, and stylized enough not to be "figurinism"the most primary.
