While everyone is going to have their comments on the next "exclusive" minifigure which will be offered on the occasion of the operation May the 4th, let's take the opportunity to do a quick recap of what LEGO has already offered in the past to celebrate this May 4th day dedicated to the Star Wars universe.
It was not until 2011 that LEGO began to celebrate this international event a little more seriously and to distribute an exclusive minifigure to all customers who take the opportunity to order products from the LEGO range. Star Wars.
Le First Order Stormtrooper (30602) planned this year will therefore be the sixth minifigure offered on the occasion of Operation May the 4th.
In 2011, LEGO offered us a Shadow ARF Trooper (2856197) visually quite successful but out of nowhere, followed in 2012 by a magnificent droid TC-14 (5000063), then in 2013 of a new version of Han Solo in Hoth outfit (5001621) with hood and double-sided face, in 2014 Darth Revan (5002123) was the delight of fans of the Extended Universe and finally in 2015 Admiral Yularen (5002947) joined the small troop of exclusive minifigs.
Everyone will have an opinion on the choices of LEGO in terms of exclusive minifigs: Some will see wasted opportunities, others will manage to be satisfied as every year with the "exclusive" character of the proposed minifigure.
For my part, I am a little disappointed to be entitled to a generic character this year. There was probably better to do and the First Order General polybag 5004406 finally seemed like an almost better option ...
Le Store Calendar US of May 2016 is available and even if we know that the promotional offers are sometimes different between Europe and the USA, it is still an opportunity to discover the polybag that will be offered on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores on the occasion of the traditional operation "May the 4th"(From April 30 to May 4, 2016).
It is in this case a Stormtrooper of the First Order (Reference LEGO 30602) and not the bag 5004406 First Order General that many saw being distributed on this occasion.
VIP points will be doubled on purchased LEGO Star Wars products and a poster The Force Awakens will be free for all orders of LEGO Star Wars products between April 30 and May 4. To be confirmed for France.
In addition to this offer dependent on a purchase in the Star Wars range, LEGO will offer the United States the polybag 30447 Captain America's Motorcycle from May 27 to 30, 2016 from $ 35 of purchase all ranges combined. To be confirmed for France.
Other notable information provided by this Store Calendar : The availability of an exclusive set (D2C) in advance sale for members of the VIP program from May 18 to 31, 2016 and the doubling of VIP points on LEGO Star Wars sets 75139 Battle on Takodana et 75140 Resistance Troop Transport from May 1st to May 31st.
Today we are talking about the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game with some information on the evolution of the gameplay of the LEGO games which will benefit from this title expected at the end of next June.
The big novelty of the next LEGO game is the possibility of participating in air or space battles in open space. More than rail shooting 2D directed and scripted as in previous versions of LEGO video games declined from the Star Wars universe, it will be possible to shoot Tie Fighter in 3D.
Another novelty that should expand the usual mechanics of LEGO games a little: The possibility of building several different objects or elements with the same pile of parts. It will be possible to choose which of these "multi build"we want to assemble in priority according to the objectives to be fulfilled.
TT Games also promises battles with even more protagonists on screen, a temporary change of view, from third person to shoulder height view, during blaster combat phases, 18 levels: 11 based on the film and 7 completely new ones developed in partnership with Lucasfilm, 5 totally open spaces, around forty controllable vehicles and more than 200 playable characters.
In short, no major changes to the mechanics that made the success of LEGO video games, but some welcome changes to give a little tone to the whole.
Below is the first gameplay trailer available which illustrates some of the features listed above.
The game will be available from June 28 with different editions (Standard, Deluxe, Premium) accompanied by polybags, an exclusive minfig and / or Season Pass. Two Character Packs are already announced: The Empire Strikes Back Character Pack et Jabba's Palace Character Pack (Jabba, Bib Fortuna, Malakili, Gamorrean Guards, Booush, Oola & Princess Leia (Jabba's Barge outift)).
Japanese ready-to-wear brand Uniqlo is teaming up with LEGO to offer a range of t-shirts featuring bricks and minifigs with the added bonus of a series of four polybags offered to customers.
These bags, stamped with the Uniqlo brand and bearing the references 40127, 40128, 40130 and 40131, contain one of the four mini-models shown on the visual below. These are in fact the mini-models of the month [Monthly mini-builds] offered in LEGO Stores and repackaged for the occasion.
The space shuttle (40127) was offered in February 2015, the robot (40128) in March 2015, the koala (40130) in May 2015 and the parrot (40131) in June 2015.
The LEGO collection at Uniqlo is for now only available in Asia (Hong-Kong and Taiwan) but it will arrive in France in mid-April.
I have just received my copy of the LEGO Star Wars Magazine for March (N ° 9) and it is not a gift but two which are present in the blister pack: On one side the Naboo Starfighter of 34 pieces announced and the other one snow speeder which was offered with the magazine's # 6 in December 2015.
No mention of this double ration of bricks in the pages of the magazine, it looks like Panini simply has stock to sell on the micro-gadgets offered with the previous issues. According to some comments read on the blog, it would seem that the second sachet accompanying the Naboo Starfighter varies between copies of the magazine.
With the N ° 10 of the month of April, we will be entitled to a Probe Droid of 21 pieces. And maybe a second gift, you never know ...
Below the assembly instructions for the March gift (# 9), the Naboo Starfighter, for all those who would like to assemble the machine using parts from their stock. (Very high resolution version on my flickr gallery)
