It's never too late to do it right. LEGO today indicates that it has heard the reproaches of fans relating to the distribution of certain sets more or less exclusive to a specific geographical area.
To put it simply, as of May 1, 2019, certain products whose distribution is initially reserved for a certain geographical area will then be available within 3 to 6 months on all of the manufacturer's distribution channels.
We are talking here mainly about sets like those reserved in particular for the Asian market, with for example the references 80101 Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner, 80102 Dragon Dance and 80103 Dragon Boat Race that many fans regret not being able to obtain other than via the market. secondary and three times the initial price.
Please note, this manufacturer's effort to respond to fan discontent will only apply to these "regional" exclusives. LEGO clearly indicates that products exclusive to certain events such as the various Comic Cons or the LEGO Inside Tour, to certain places such as the LEGO House in Billund or the LEGOLAND parks, promotional offers on the Shop and products in the test phase via a crowdfunding campaign are NOT affected by this decision.
Below is the announcement posted today by LEGO:
Dear AFOL Community,
It has become apparent to us at the LEGO Group that you are dissatisfied with the recent launches of regional exclusive products. We've received a lot of feedback on the LEGO festival products to mark the Chinese New Year (sets 80101 and 80102), the LEGO The Movie 2 Brickheadz (41634, 41635,41636 & 41637) in the US as well as the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Darth Vader Bust (75227). Because of this feedback and concerns from you, our dedicated and most loyal fans, we have decided that regional exclusives launched after May 1, 2019 will become widely available via LEGO Brand Retail stores and LEGO Shop at Home after a limited period of time (3-6 months) of the initial launch. In the following areas we will still be launching products, which will have a certain limitation to availability and production runs:
