LEGO novelties at the best price

9516 Jabba's Palace

You will tell me that I recycle an old play on words And you're right.

But it's for a good cause: It's in light of a posted photo on EB by Alldarker that the far-fetched theory, but not too much, of a Rancor pit in the form of a set begins to gain ground ...

Indeed, if you look closely at the image above, you will see four 2x2 holes there which are not really useful in the current state of the set. 9516 Jabba's Palace (sold € 99.12 on amazon.es). So the shortcut is quickly taken: What if LEGO separately released a set in the mind? Structure allowing to insert under the palace of the infamous Jabba a pit housing the even more infamous Rancor?

In my opinion, it is playable. The Rancor, as huge as it is, can be produced by LEGO which knows how to make Wampas, Trolls or Hulks ...

Suddenly, the set 9516 Jabba's Palace would take on a whole other dimension, much more interesting than the current hut in which we stack our minifigs and the trap door would become really useful, you can throw your renegade minifigs there to see them being devoured by the Rancor figurine inspired by the one seen in the animated episode Star Wars The Padawan Menace...

For the record, remember that the set 4480 Jabba's Palace released in 2003 had been added the same year two other sets to form a relatively correct overall composition: 4475 Jabba's Message et 4476 Jabba's Prize...

15/03/2012 - 08:44 LEGO Polybags Rumors

Chrome Darth Vader, Chrome Gold C-3PO, Chrome Stormtrooper, White Boba Fett & Shadow ARF Trooper

Come on, a little rumor that comes to us from Brickset forum where flump6523 is teasing on the next promotional offer of the now traditional May the fourth be with you... In 2011 we were entitled to a polybag with the Shadow ARF Trooper who had unleashed passions ...

On this forum, we therefore learn that the exclusive minifigure should be chrome. So far, so good. We also learn that the eyes of this minifigure will be orange. And speculation is rife: A reissue of the chrome C-3PO? a chrome Ewok? Difficult to distinguish between the sybinic messages of flump6523 and the expectations of each other which become realities as and when the responses to this topic ...

A chrome C-3PO, why not ... The one printed in 10.000 copies and inserted randomly in sets marketed in the United States in 2007 sells more € 200 on Bricklink currently. A new version would not necessarily lower its cost, especially because of the bag which is almost as valuable as the minifigure itself but would allow more collectors to add this minifigure to their collection.

Minifigs in version Chrome become recurrent at LEGO, Darth Vader (4547551), Stormtrooper (2853590), C-3PO (sw158), so many characters who were entitled to a Luxury version and who are very popular with collectors.

A chrome Ewok? why not ... But it is not yet the year ofEpisode VI: Return of the Jedi in 3D ... Yet the decryption of the topic in question tilts the scales in favor of the shiny teddy bear ... Wait and see, I think we will quickly have the answer to the usual question: What will LEGO offer us for the traditional May 4th promo?

26/02/2012 - 19:06 Lego news Rumors

I know it won't matter much once LEGO unveils Nick Fury's minifigure and set, but speculation is rife about the SHIELD boss.

Today the rumor would tend to include Nick Fury in the set 6873 Spiderman's ™ Doc Ock ™ Ambush which we do not know at the moment, except that it will be marketed in the summer of 2012. Yet LEGO had indicated that Spider-Man would be based on the character said classic and not on a film version of the character: … The LEGO SUPER HEROES Marvel collection will spotlight three Marvel franchises - Marvel's The Avengers movie, and X-Men and Spider-Man classic characters…

Everything starts from the trailer (visible here on YouTube) of the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series produced by Marvel Animation and which will be released in April 2012 on Disney XD.

And in this trailer we find this image of Nick Fury speaking to Spider-Man:

Ultimate Spider-Man Animated Series - Nick Fury

We know that Spider-Man is one of the New Avengers, a post team Avengers disassembled consisting of two of the former Avengers Captain America and Iron Man, and Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Sentry, and Ronin. Spider-Man will remain a member of this same team after Civil War.

So is Nick Fury's presence in this animated series a clue to his presence in set 6873? I'll let you decide ...

LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes Comic in LEGO Magazine

The Americans (again) discovered this flyer inserted in their LEGO Magazine (scan provided by Clone gunner on EB). On the menu, a presentation in order of the super heroes of the DC Universe 2012 range with biography, geographical location, main enemy and some anecdotes on the character concerned.

Nothing very extravagant, even if this type of mini catalog is always nice when you are a collector (I accumulate LEGO Star Wars posters, that's how I can't help it ...).

What appeals to some forumers from across the Atlantic is the presence of Mr Freeze on the cover of this flyer.

Batman and Cawoman are present in the 2012 range with the set 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Chase, Robin and Bane are delivered in the set 6860 The Batcave. The Joker is present in the set 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City, Two-Face is delivered in the set 6864 Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase and Harley Quinn is delivered in the set 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape.

But no Mr Freeze in the current DC Universe line. The minifig shown on this flyer is indeed the one from 2006 delivered in the set 7783 The Batcave: The Penguin and Mr. Freeze's Invasion and supplied again in the set 7884 Batman's Buggy: The Escape of Mr. Freeze released in 2008.

So should we draw a hasty conclusion from the presence of Mr Freeze on this flyer, or simply say that LEGO chose this visual completely by chance.

But after all, why not have used for example The Riddler, also delivered in the set 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape this year, or Poison Ivy delivered in the set 6860 The Batcave?

Captain America & Red Skull - Customs by Christo

This is called a dumpling: the manufacturer of toys and collectors' products NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) which will produce figurines inspired by the movie The Avengers scheduled for late April 2012 has communicated a list of heroes who will be reproduced.

And there, in the middle of the list we find Captain America's nemesis: Red Skull. Will this character be in the film? There is a good chance, and the production had undoubtedly wanted to keep the secret until the end to preserve the effect of surprise with the fans. Admit that Red Skull allied to Loki, that would have the mouth ... (see the article on Télé Loisirs (!))

Following this logic, will LEGO produce a Red Skull minifig, also kept secret at the request of the production? Indeed the list of minifigs in the Marvel range is known, it was announced in the official press releaseIron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Widow.

I could see Red Skull in the set 6865 Captain America's ™ Avenging Cycle planned for May / June 2012...

In the meantime, I put you a picture of my custom Red Skull designed by Christo and bought after a hard fight on eBay ...
