This is the existential question I ask myself on this sunny Sunday (As far as I'm concerned) in September: Should I fall for the new LEGO Mindstorms EV3 set which, if I am to believe what I am told on the web (The official website is excellent), is a revolution in robotics, and a product that will bring me joy and happiness while making my children future NASA engineers.

On the budget side, the public price of the box slows my enthusiasm: 369.99 €, it is a sum, especially since it is neither Star Wars, nor Super Heroes and even Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit, my themes of predilection for which I look much less at the expense ...

My kids seem very drawn to the concept, and I can already see myself spending long hours trying to squeeze something out of the associated software that's supposed to allow me to ask my robot to do housework, take the kids to school, or change a car wheel.

I hesitate to take the plunge, and if you have any arguments to convince me, sell me the thing in the comments, especially if you have experience with the previous version of the concept or if you have already purchased this product .

On the shopping side, promotions are already starting to arrive and we find this set currently around € 300, which is still more reasonable than the public price. I have no experience with this type of product, so I'm counting on you to convince me (or not) to take a closer look ...

For the anecdote, Toys R Us has already created a dedicated section to sets inspired by the film The LEGO Movie which will be released in 2014. It's empty for now, but the 17 sets of the announced range should find their place in this category soon.

Some have already pointed it out in the comments, Amazon FR offers the box of 60 sachets of minifigs from the 11 series at 118 € currently.
