The Clone Wars: LEGO wins court case against BELA "brand"

New episode in the long battle between LEGO and the various counterfeit manufacturers with a decision of the Intermediate Court of Justice of Shantou (China) which could have concrete repercussions.

This decision confirms that several products marketed under the BELA brand infringe the rights of the Danish manufacturer and that the manufacture and marketing of these products constitutes an act of unfair competition. This file was about reproductions of sets from the LEGO Friends range.

It is difficult to assess the real impact of this legal victory on the counterfeit LEGO product market in China and by extension on other world markets where these products are imported and sold. The decision here concerns only two manufacturers and a few products.

We will certainly have to wait for the proliferation of judgments of this type and their implementation to possibly discourage those who take advantage of the notoriety of the LEGO brand to sell counterfeit products.
