That the movie The LEGO Batman Movie whether you liked it or not, it is ultimately not very important. You paid to go and see it, and that is what Warner really does. You've probably spent a few dollars on merchandise as well, and that's the main thing for LEGO.
Among the many derivative products of the film, there is one that really deserves your full attention: The Book The LEGO Batman Movie: The Making of the Movie (200 pages - € 24.90).
I received my copy and I must say that I take great pleasure in leafing through it at leisure. Some will no doubt see it more of a compilation of everything LEGO will ever produce than a real dive behind the scenes of the film, but it is nonetheless a great synthesis of the creative odyssey that culminated in the film as we know it. .
Throughout the pages, we discover the many concept arts at the origin of the characters, their costumes, their vehicles and their environment. We regret that this or that version of a minifigure is not marketed, we discover vehicles for which we would like to be able to obtain the instructions and we learn a little more about the architectural influences that give the various buildings of Gotham City their final look. Preliminary sketches, 3D models and renderings, alternative versions, everything is there.
It is undeniably "a beautiful book" that happily dispenses with the endless exclusive minifigure that usually sells the many LEGO publications that invade our shelves.
Although the book is obviously very visual, the editorial content is very interesting and deserves to be accessible to everyone, including the youngest fans.
A French version of the book is available (Rupture at amazon, available on Fnac.com: The LEGO Batman Movie: Behind the Scenes of the Movie. In my opinion, this is the perfect gift for any fan of the LEGO universe who wants to know more about the behind the scenes of the movie.
