30460 Rex's Plantimal Ambush

This is already the sixth known polybag based on the movie The LEGO Movie 2: the official visuals of the reference 30460 Rex's Plantimal Ambush are now live on the server that hosts the photos of the LEGO products and it therefore seems logical that this bag is the subject of an imminent promotional offer.
In the bag of 32 pieces, a minifig of Rex Dangervest and a funny creature called Plantimal that you will also find in the set 70826 Rex's Rextreme Offroader.

For now, complete collectors should at least collect the following polybags: 30340 Emmet's 'Piece' Offering30527 Lucy vs. Alien invader30528 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard30529 Mini-Master Building Emmet, 30620 Star-Struck Emmet et 30460 Rex's Plantimal Ambush...

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

Today we are interested in The LEGO Movie 2 set 70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop! (19.99 €), a small box of 117 pieces stamped "4+"whose content is logically within the reach of the youngest.

Small paranthesis about the sub-range "4+"which takes over from the LEGO Juniors range in 2019: This classification is not new, it already existed in 2003/2004 and it allows the boxes concerned to be found in the same department as the rest of the range to which they belong.

By being associated with other boxes on the same theme, these sets intended for young fans in the process of transitioning from the DUPLO universe will therefore have under their eyes all the products derived from the universe that attracts them ... On a level purely marketing, it's always more interesting than finding the LEGO Juniors sets stored on a separate shelf in the store.

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

You know the principle of this intermediate sub-range: an easy-to-assemble product that uses the bricks of the range System with in the lot of very large pieces which allow to avoid the frustration of the children who are not yet used to this format and to the different construction techniques.

Here, it's a matter of fifteen minutes, taking your time. On the one hand, Emmet's all-terrain vehicle with a mini-service station-style decor with workshop trolley, a few tools, a pad-printed piece of wall and a little nod to the Octan brand. The large chassis of the vehicle accommodates a few parts and voila. The vehicle is also rather successful if we take into account the low number of parts used.

No stickers in this box, everything is pad printed, even the Classic Space logo placed on the nose of Benny's ship ...

So that those who have never had a LEGO Juniors or "4+" sets in their hands understand the principle, I have given you exploded views of Emmet's buggy and Benny's spaceship.

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

Another nod in the direction of the fans, Benny's ship with his buggy which is stowed in the back. Long-time fans will fondly remember the Classic Space 924 Space Transporter (1979) set of which LEGO is delivering a very simplified version today.

It's minimalist, but we find the flat side of these blue, gray and yellow vessels from our childhood. Here too, LEGO makes it easier for the youngest with a huge gray piece that embodies the base of the ship.

We quickly stack a few pieces on this base that give the ship its final look. Nothing complicated and the result is very honest despite the limited number of parts.

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

The final model is admittedly less ambitious than the enormous ship in the set 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! marketed in 2014 on the occasion of the theatrical release of the first part of The LEGO Movie saga, but the minimalism of the thing refers directly to the sets of our childhood, at a time when the imagination and a few bricks still worked miracles .

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

It is possible to load the buggy at the back of the ship by moving the two reactors apart. This is the only feature of the set but it is the one that will undoubtedly allow a scene from the film to be replayed. Fans of the Classic Space universe will only have eyes for the coin with the pad printed logo and the yellow windshield. We understand them ...

In the view below, we can see the large gray part which constitutes the cabin of the vessel on which the thirty or so elements are placed which allow it to take shape.

70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop!

at 19.99 € the 117 pieces, the two minifigs and the fifteen minutes of assembly, we can consider that it is a little expensive. We still get two machines, two important characters from The LEGO Movie saga and a nice nostalgic wink. It is enough for me.

In my opinion, the objective is achieved by this small unpretentious set which above all aims to bring together two generations of fans around the LEGO toy: Daddy buys the set because ... SPACESHIP !, the children get their hero Emmet and it 's. left for a few hours of sharing and fun. I say yes, just for that.

Note: The set shown here is put into play as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before January 6, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.

27/12/2018 - 15:59 Lego news The lego movie 2

The LEGO Movie 2: The Awesomest, Most Amazing, Most Epic Movie Guide in the Universe!

While waiting for the official announcement of the 20 characters from The LEGO Movie 2 that will be available in the series of collectible minifigs (LEGO ref. 71023), the book The LEGO Movie 2: The Awesomest, Most Amazing, Most Epic Movie Guide in the Universe! already available at amazon allows us to discover the content of some of the planned sachets and therefore to discuss freely here the planned series.

I received my copy of the book in question and I scanned you some visuals featuring the different minifigs involved.

[amazon box="146547966X"]

We find in particular the four characters above, the three costumes below (watermelon, pencil and giraffe), Rex Dangervest accompanied by his baby raptor and Benny with his robotic arm and his toolbox.

If you follow the usual channels that highlight the "leaks" of visuals, you already know that these characters will be accompanied by the cast of The Wizard of Oz with Dorothy Gale accompanied by Doggy (or Toto), the iron man, l scarecrow and the cowardly lion, Emmet, Unikitty, and a few others.

30529 Mini-Master Building Emmet

The hunt for The LEGO Movie 2 polybags has only just begun. After the two references unveiled a few days ago, here are two new bags that complete collectors will have to get hold of sooner or later.

Above, the reference 30529 Mini-Master Building Emmet (49 pieces) which allows to assemble three different models from the contents of the bag as is also the case for the polybag 30528 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard. This new polybag is already for sale on eBay.

Below, the polybag 30340 Emmet's 'Piece' Offering (44 pieces) which allows you to get another Emmet minifigure and build the "welcome" heart that the character gives to the DUPLO invaders in the movie trailer.

Lower, the polybag 30527 Lucy vs. Alien invader (44 pieces) which allows you to build with a few bricks a DUPLO invader identical to those already seen in several announced sets.

As usual, we do not yet know how to market / distribute these sachets. We will have to wait a little longer to find out if it is possible to be offered them by LEGO or another brand on the occasion of the launch of the range of products derived from the film.

70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard

Today we are quickly interested in The LEGO Movie 2 set 70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard (168 pieces - 19.99 €) which will be available from December 26th on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores and in your usual toy store.

Nothing to rave about the content to build in less than fifteen minutes delivered in this box. Batman's mini-throne and MetalBeard's robot-crab (Steelbeard) are there to furnish and undoubtedly to reproduce a scene from the film on a reduced scale.

The construction intended for Batman has one and only feature: the pad printed sign which reads "You're Welcome"can be raised or lowered using the thumbwheel on the back of the build. Batman doesn't really fit into the hiding place under the throne due to his mask and imposing accessory with integrated half-tires. Both wings are fixed and do not move when activating the mechanism that deploys the panel.

70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard

There is a small problem with MetalBear and its robot crab. The construction is quite successful with the chest that opens at the level of the character's torso to reveal some bones and other sausages (the internal organs of the character according to the product description ...), but the whole is really annoying To manipulate. The crab's legs, which must be put in the right position so that the figurine stands upright, do not remain in place and everything sags as soon as it is touched.

The youngest who already see themselves reproducing some scenes seen in the cinema with their MetalBeard may be disappointed when they realize that the figurine hardly holds in place. Worse, if you add Maddox's minifigure into the lookout, MetalBeard often crumbles under its own weight, unless you find the perfect balance point. Even the polybag version 30528 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard seems more stable.

70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard

On the minifig side, we quickly forget Maddox, the second service knife with a post-apocalyptic pirate look. The minifigure is pretty, but not enough to make tons of it without knowing exactly who this guy is and how many seconds he appears on the screen ....

The supplied yellow star consists of a Tile pad printed which is placed on a large support with central tenon. Simple and efficient. Do not buy this box just for the star, there is the same in many other sets in the range.

Important precision these days: no stickers in this box, everything is pad printed.

70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard

The real reason to spend € 19.99 on this set is obviously the Batman minifigure Wasteland. Purists might be a little annoyed with the way LEGO and Warner twist the character and adapt him to any sauce, but this minifigure is really very successful.

The pad printing is magnificent, it is also partially masked by the torn cape and especially by the American football shoulder pad topped with two half-tires and it's almost a shame.

On the shoulder, the two half-tires are made of flexible rubber as for the other LEGO tires.

70836 Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard

Do not think you are out of the woods with this little box at 20 €, the version of Batman provided in this box is different from the one that will be delivered in the big D2C set 70840 Welcome to Apocalypseburg (3178 pieces), some visuals of which are already available through the usual channels, in the company of Green Lantern and Harley Queen.

The two minifigs use the same accessories (cape, shoulder pad, mask) but the pad printing varies from one version to another, especially on the legs.

In summary, I say yes but just for Batman and on sale for less than 15 €. MetalBeard is much too fragile, it is not worthy of a children's toy at 19.99 €.

Note: The set shown here is put into play as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before December 28 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.
