First update at amazon regarding the merchandise of the film The LEGO Movie: The Second Part with the publication of the cover of a children's book accompanied by an Emmet minifigure.
Nothing very exciting in itself, but the description of the contents of the work entitled "Keeping it awesome with Emmet"however mentions that the minifigure that accompanies it is exclusive:
Let Emmet teach you how to be AWESOMER with his guide to life!
Includes year exclusive Emmet Minifigure. THE LEGO MOVIE 2 - in cinemas February 2019! |
Looking more closely, we find the torso and legs usually provided for this character, but if the pad printing of the minifigure is faithful to the visual of the cover, we will therefore be entitled to an Emmet whose work uniform is "worn" at the level of the torso and the belt, as is however already the case at least in the sets 70827 Ultrakitty & Warrior Lucy (348 pieces - 29.99 €) and 70830 Sweet Mayhem's Systar Starship (502 pieces - 74.99 €).
I'm afraid the term "exclusive minifig" is a little too optimistic here ...
Anyway, if you're already planning to collect all the minifigs based on the movie slated for February 2019, keep an eye out for this book which is currently in preorder at amazon (publication January 3, 2019), it would be a shame if you were missing one ...

A quick update on what awaits us to accompany the theatrical release on February 20, 2019 of the film The LEGO Movie: The Second Part, with a long list of sets already referenced at Amazon, some of which we now know their public price and the number of pieces.
The contents of three of these boxes were already officially revealed last July during the last San Diego Comic Con, the references 70827, 70829 and 70830.
By way of comparison, the first part of what is now becoming a saga was accompanied in 2014 and 2015 by twenty sets divided into two successive waves.
To take advantage of the release of the second opus, there are already 18 sets, most of them announced for December 27, and this is probably only a first wave that will certainly be completed by some additional references in June 2019.
And that's without counting the inevitable polybags and other promotional products that are sure to be distributed or sold here and there. The first film was accompanied by 7 polybags and an exclusive version of Unikitty. To start the list of promotional products based on the second part, we will retain the exclusive version ofApocalypseburg Unikitty distributed during the last SDCC.
We already know the reference for one of these new sachets: 30340. According to the latest rumors, it should contain a version of Emmet accompanied by a heart to be built similar to those available in the three sets already announced.
In addition to this early referencing of the various sets by Amazon, LEGO has uploaded the visual of the minifig Wasteland batman which we do not know for the moment in which of the boxes listed below it will be delivered. We already know that she will not be in one of the three sets already revealed.
Finally and to make it a little more difficult for collectors, LEGO will undoubtedly not fail to market a few BrickHeadz minifigures and a big D2C set that is a bit expensive for the occasion. It is the reference 70810 Metalbeard's Sea Cow at 249.99 € who had taken on this role in 2014 to accompany the first part.

LEGO today unveils three of the boxes that will accompany the film's 2019 release The LEGO Movie: The Second Part with references 70830 Sweet Mayhem's Systar Starship, 70827 Ultrakitty & Warrior Lucy et 70829 Emmet & Lucy's Escape Buggy.
It's probably no coincidence that LEGO chose these three boxes to raise the pressure, their content indeed makes a brief appearance in the first trailer of the film:
In the set 70830 Sweet Mayhem's Systar Starship ($ 69.99), we find the minifigs of Emmet and Lucy Wyldstyle (Cool-Tag), accompanied by the mini-doll of Sweet Mayhem, and the latter's ship. Two other characters simply named Star and Heart complete the set's inventory:
In the set 70827 Ultrakitty & Warrior Lucy ($ 29.99), a giant version of the very edgy unicorn accompanied by Emmet and Lucy Wyldstyle (Cool-Tag), with a bonus alien DUPLO made from classic bricks. The exclusive figurine "Apocalypseburg Unikitty"offered at San Diego Comic Con is therefore a miniature adaptation of this version of the character.
In the set 70829 Emmet & Lucy's Escape Buggy ($ 49.99), we find Emmet and Lucy Wyldstyle (Cool-Tag) at the controls of a huge buggy, a rather confusing version of MetalBeard and a new character: Sharkia. Star and Heart are also present in this set.
Availability announced for January 1, 2019.
Another exclusive product at San Diego Comic Con 2018 unveiled today by LEGO: This is a Unikitty minifigure in "Apocalypseburg"with two facial expressions (angry, very angry ...).
It is therefore the first film derivative The LEGO Movie: The Second Part expected for February 2019 in theaters. And probably the most difficult to obtain, although other products with very limited circulation will probably be marketed or offered around the release of the film ...
As for the other SDCC exclusives, you will have to pay several hundred euros on eBay in the coming days to get this figurine.
This is the second time that LEGO has offered an exclusive version of Unikitty during Comic Con in San Diego: In 2014,, the minifigure based on The LEGO Movie featured the phrases "cutesykitty et cheerykitty"...
The first trailer of the film The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is available and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with what Warner Bros. shows us for now.
I already find in this short video a lot of elements of the first part: The visual atmosphere, the humor of the characters, the realistic side of the minifigs virtually reconstituted with their small defects, etc ... So far, all is well. I just hope the script is really up to the task.
If you want to have fun figuring out which vehicles or locations from the trailer will be the subject of a set, indulge yourself. I think that LEGO will not fail to offer us a slew of boxes based on this second installment of The LEGO Movie saga and that the trailer already provides the content of some of them.
