It is still only a rumor (A guy who knows a guy who knows ...) relayed by VIDEOGAMER.COM, but it deserves a few lines here: LEGO and TT Games could once again combine their strike force and their know-how to offer a game of the type Toys-To-Life whose name could be "LEGO Dimensions".
For those who do not know the principle of Toys-To-Life popularized by Activision with its Skylanders, Disney with Disney Infinity and recently taken over by Nintendo with the Amiibo concept, it's very simple: We produce a game, we launch in parallel a range of plastic figurines, we make sure that these Real figurines are playable in the virtual world to which they are associated via a dedicated connection interface and we cash millions of dollars.
The players are forced to acquire more and more characters to make the pleasure last and the publisher is no longer content to sell a virtual work, he perpetuates his investment and extends its amortization over time by selling the associated derivative products essential to the game. video game experience. If you have children who play Skylanders, you have probably had the painful experience of buying a quantity of figurines sold for around fifteen euros ...
So, LEGO and TT Games would (finally?) Prepare a game of this type combining the virtual experience and LEGO products made of ABS plastic. This interaction already exists, in a limited way, via the LEGO Fusion concepts, theAppbrick associated with the new LEGO Ultra Agents sets and to a lesser extent in the LEGO Minifigures Online game, which unlocks the virtual version of a plastic minifig via a unique code. But it seems that LEGO and TT Games are (secretly) working on a more evolved product that would directly compete with the Skylanders and Disney Infinity.
