76116 batman batsub underwater clash 1

Today we are back in the Batman universe with the small LEGO DC Comics set 76116 Batman: Batsub and the Underwater Clash (174 pieces - € 24.99), a somewhat opportunistic box that takes advantage of the theatrical release of the film Aquaman to sell us an Ocean Master minifig. And a shark.

Make room in the Batcave, you must now add the Batsub delivered here. The machine is rather convincing with its two large engines, its bubble which dresses the spacious cockpit and an aesthetic which cleverly takes up the usual symbol of the bat seen from above.

Interesting detail, the cockpit remains permanently horizontal regardless of the tilt of the mini submarine. It is simply mounted on a basic axis which achieves this very successful effect. The wings of the Batsub can therefore rotate 360 °, like a huge propeller.

A few stickers for a convincing Bat-look, two Stud-Shooters to knock down stuff, two robotic arms at the front, it's all there.

The endowment in minifigs of this box is interesting for collectors. The Aquaman minifig in Comic version is exclusive to this box, that of Ocean Master is new and exclusive.

However, Batman's torso is not new or exclusive, it is the one seen in the sets 76097 Lex Luthor Mech Takedown (2018) et 76111 Brother Eye Takedown (2018)

Nice pad printing on Ocean Master's torso with a nice effect for the curls that seem to hold the fabric cape but I'm less impressed with the design of the character's head. The attempt to print the flesh color (Flesh) on a gray head is missed. Too bad for the neutral legs, gray boots would have been welcome.

A good point, the minifigs can be presented on the support provided as if they were moving in water. It's neat on a shelf, a little harder to fit into a Ribba frame.

In short, this small set sold for € 24.99 is worth it. The gear provided is rather convincing and two of the three characters delivered here are new and exclusive to this set. For one of the rare times when the construction delivered in a DC Comics set doesn't just serve as a disappointing alibi to sell us minifigs, I say yes.

Note: The set shown here, supplied by LEGO, is included as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before March 3, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.
