The Nantes International Science Fiction Festival , better known to regulars as Utopiales , begins today . This key event for all science fiction fans runs until November 12th at the city's Convention Centre.
Obviously, AFOLs (including several members of the BrickPirate community ) will be present in force with an exhibition bringing together various dioramas (Hoth, Clone Wars, Space...) and I believe that the maxifigs from Ar Sparfel will also be present.
Furthermore, if you are there on Friday, November 9th, reserve your place to attend the round table discussion on the theme " Design, LEGO and science fiction " which will take place from 20:30 pm in the Shayol space and whose presentation text is below:
" ...Art, street art, advertising, and design use LEGO-type bricks to mobilize the collective imagination associated with them: childhood, toys, modularity, assembly... Conversely, adult LEGO users employ these qualities literally, like children, the bricks becoming a kind of material, both flexible and pixelated. So, is it a hobby for young adults, amateur design, 3D painting, or popular sculpture? How should we describe the use of LEGO bricks by adults? What perspective does a professional designer have on these creations?... "
