Review : 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack

In a line of LEGO sets, there obviously needs to be some affordable appealing products that allow customers to "taste" the thing without getting too wet financially.

Sold 24.99 €, the set with 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack with its 201 parts and its three minifigs, is it nevertheless a convincing product? We can consider that this will depend in part on the popularity of Mr. Freeze with young audiences when the film is released. For adult fans and collectors, this little box just allows you to get a new version of the character.

I will spare you what LEGO pompously calls "the electric factory" in the official description of the set. It is a piece of wall and a few pipes without much interest, except that of being able to be combined with the pieces of wall of two other small boxes of the range (70900 The Joker Balloon Escape et 70910 Scarecrow's Special Delivery). The result isn't much more exciting, but it will fill a corner of the shelf to display your minifigs:

I note in passing that LEGO was not at the end of the concept: Why offer elements from three different sets that can be combined between them and provide us three times the same Batman in these three boxes instead of varying the characters for form a coherent whole? I'm just asking the question ...

Those who bought the Monster Fighters set 10228 Haunted Houses in 2012 will not be disoriented: The problem of color difference on parts in Sand green which constitute the wall of the "factory" is still present here. And it's ugly.

We know that this is Mr Freeze because it is written on the box. This minifig could just as easily come out of a LEGO range containing aliens / robots / things from space even if we can always find somewhere in the universe of comics or animated series interpretations of the character that probably inspired this minifig.

The character comes with a dozen centimeter high exo-skeleton which is quite convincing considering the low number of parts in the box. Mr Freeze stands there and we can make him take many poses thanks to the many points of articulation. The central element that houses the minifig (6166882) is not unknown to fans of the Nexo Knights range: it can be found in the series of sets of type "Battle Suits". The new hands in Medium Blue are for the moment a priori only available in this box. The exoskeleton is armed with a Freeze Gun with Stud Shooter integrated.

For the rest, Batman is obviously present with a somewhat seedy "flamethrower", and as a bonus LEGO includes a security guard with his helmet, his weapon and his oxygen tanks who enters fully dressed in the "ice prison. " to build.

In short, no need to make tons, we will buy this box for the fifth version of Mr. Freeze that LEGO offers us (7783, 7884, 76000, 30603) and possibly its exo-skeleton.
