Almost everything has already been said about the new LEGO range of buildable characters: The BrickHeadz.
Those who know Pop! from the manufacturer Funko will obviously have made the connection between the BrickHeadz and the vinyl characters marketed by Funko.
Same look Chibi, same disproportionate head, size almost equivalent to half a centimeter. simplified-looking face without a mouth and with a pair of eyes set apart, numbered individual packaging, it's all there. Funko products are collected by many fans and LEGO is probably hoping to generate the same craze for BrickHeadz. In my opinion, it is not won.
If I believe what I read in the comments here or on Hoth Bricks, opinions on these characters with an original design are very divided. Everyone has their own arguments to defend or downgrade this new LEGO initiative and the selling price of these mini-sets (€ 9.99) is probably not for nothing.
LEGO sent me the 10 characters already announced and I therefore suggest that you take a look at the reference today. 41589 Captain America, here in version Civil War.
In the box: 79 pieces and no stickers. This is the good news. All the pieces bearing patterns or inscriptions are pad printed, eight of them including one œthere replacement. The shield is identical to the one usually delivered with the Captain America minifigs.
As for the construction phase, nothing really rocket science. We stack and it takes shape. The BrickHeadz make heavy use of part 6123809 (Brick, Modified 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 with Studs on 1 Side) with 14 copies on which are fixed the plates that dress the character.
To bring a little fun, the pieces that furnish the interior of the figurine are delivered in a variety of colors.
By using this basic structure, it is possible to adapt the concept to infinity and to create your own BrickHeadz.
In a few minutes, it's over. We fix the character 7 cm high on the plate that serves as a support and we can move on. A Plate pad printed reminds us that this is indeed a product from the first series of twelve characters in the BrickHeadz range via the pad printed logo and number.
In short, nothing very complicated, and LEGO obviously seems to be confident enough in its concept not to include a minifigure of the corresponding character in each box. It's a shame, the product would have had a much greater appeal if LEGO had made the effort.
As an example, below is the BrickHeadz version of Captain America accompanied by his alter ego, the minifig present in the sets 76032 The Avengers Quinjet City Chase, 76041 The HYDRA Fortress Smash. 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle, 76067 Tanker Truck Takedown and the polybag 30447 Captain America's Motorcycle.
As far as I'm concerned, these characters will not clutter my shelves. I am not a fan of the cubic and disproportionate aspect of the characters. But tastes and colors are indisputable and these products will probably find their audience.
Note: I will put these boxes in play as usual but I will do it in the form of several batches to limit the breakage at the level of the shipping costs.
