LEGO novelties at the best price

9678 Twin-Pod Cloud Car ™ & Bespin ™ - Lobot

Apart from the most assiduous fans of the Star Wars saga, who remembers Lobot, the administrator of Cloud City (Bespin) in the service of Lando Calrissian with a device grafted on his brain that allows him to communicate with the Cloud City mainframe? Probably not many people ...

Collectors who own the (unloved, yet undervalued) 7199 Twin-Pod Cloud Car set released in 2002 are also familiar with the minifigure that came with it, featuring a printed image on the back of its face depicting the character's electronic equipment. For the past 10 years, there has been no further news of this character, which would be difficult to include in any set other than a remake of the 10123 Cloud City set released in 2003.

Yet LEGO has brought back Lobot with a significantly updated version that clearly appeals to fans. It can be found in the second wave of the Planet Series set, alongside the Cloud Car and the planet Bespin: 9678 Twin-Pod Cloud Car™ & Bespin™ ( available at the unbeatable price of €8.56 from amazon.es ). Because it must be said that the star of this set is Lobot himself, and not the vehicle, which is a bit too orange, or the planet, which is rather simply printed.

The question we can ask ourselves now is: Are we going to have the right to a remake of Cloud City, and this minifig foreshadows the arrival of such a set?

It would be strange for a minifigure to be exclusive to a range of minisets, however nice they were. Lobot is not a well-known character in the saga, let alone the younger ones. The presence of this minifigure in this set could put us on the trail of an upcoming large-scale playset that would refresh the 2003 one.
