Immediately received, immediately put away: The content of the latest LEGO Star Wars book to date, Chronicles of the Force, accompanied by the exclusive minifigure of one of Unkar Plutt's henchmen, only occupied me a few minutes before moving on.
Like the two other books of the same type already published (LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side et LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles), it is written really, really big, and this book is obviously aimed at a very young audience with basic anecdotes and "facts"very simplistic.
And this is where the shoe pinches: We are in France and it is therefore logical to seek to obtain the French version of the book. Except that the localization effort undertaken by the publisher Qilinn (Youth section at Huginn & Munnin) to offer a version accessible to the youngest French-speaking fans significantly increased the price of this 96-page book, including 80 of real content.
While the original version is available for less than 10 € at amazon UK, it will be necessary to pay 21.95 € at amazon to obtain the French version at the start of the next school year. A bit expensive for a few pages and a minifigure, as exclusive as it is ...
This book is unfortunately not an isolated case, the same pricing scenario is repeated over and over again for all DK works translated by Qilinn. With the difference in price, you can still try to pay your kids for English lessons, you will win over time (and them too).
