5008878 lego starwars the force of creativity book 17

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO Star Wars book 5008878 The Force of Creativity, a derivative product sold on the official online store since May 1, 2024 at the public price of €149.99.

The price charged suggests an exceptional product intended for the fans most committed to the Star Wars universe, it is therefore advisable to check if the promise is kept before committing to a pre-order with delivery scheduled for July 2024 .

It is difficult to criticize the packaging of the product, the work of just over 300 pages is delivered in a high-end box which suggests that we are dealing with something exceptional and new.

The box set is indeed magnificent, it is almost too much for a simple book but LEGO specifies that the work is accompanied by an "exclusive" time capsule described as a treasure made up of collector's items and which one could legitimately imagine filled with exceptional products.

Worse, this product is excluded from current promotional offers, its exceptional character probably placing it above the lot of boxes containing common plastic bricks. I reassure you right away, this is not the case.

First observation, not a LEGO brick on the horizon. Not even a pad-printed collector's brick, let alone a copy of the brick celebrating the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range that we find in many boxes. There is only cardboard and paper here, a lot of paper.

Concerning the work itself, the most dedicated fans will not learn much from the pages. It is more of a collection of information available for a long time in other books or quite simply online and even if the quotes from the many speakers remain interesting, there is nothing to make it a real investigative work. and journalism. This book at least has the merit of approaching the LEGO Star Wars universe from all angles, including through fan work.

It is therefore a somewhat lazy summary of fan service printed on glossy paper and certainly richly illustrated which focuses everything on its appearance to the detriment of its content and we are left wanting more while having the impression of having already heard or read the information distilled throughout the pages. I would point out for those who do not understand, this book is only available in English and it is necessary to master the language of Shakespeare to really benefit from it.

We could say that the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range needed to be celebrated with this beautiful book, but at €150 per item and promised delivery on the Greek calendar, I think we have the right to hope for a little more than visuals already seen elsewhere and anecdotes worn to the core.

This book being a pure product to glorify the manufacturer, do not expect to find any perspective on the work of designers or marketing people. It's advertising, certainly well packaged, but it's advertising above all.

As for the promised "time capsule", that's also the disappointment: The box contains some reproductions of documents relating to the launch of the LEGO Star Wars range in 1999 but you also have to make do with a postcard, instructions for products offered in LEGO Stores (without the bricks) and a few boards of little historical interest.

Still no plastic in sight but a mini diorama in low-end corrugated cardboard to assemble yourself which is unspeakably sad and whose manufacturing quality leaves something to be desired. It's definitely very meager for a "treasure" made up of collector's items.

I am not going to do more about this product, you will have understood that I am frankly doubtful about its interest and its price. In form, it is very well executed with a pretty box containing a book with careful layout and very clean visuals, but the substance is not there. In any case no more than in many other books which deal with the same subject and which present us with the same anecdotes for ten times less expensive. The time capsule, for its part, is a huge joke. This is obviously only my opinion and you will be able to form your own when the book is actually available.

lego harry potter 76428 hagrid hut unexpected visit 1
While waiting to be able to tell you about the new features for the second half of 2024, today we quickly return to the content of the LEGO Harry Potter set 76428 Hagrid's Hut: An Unexpected Visit, a box of 896 pieces available since March 1 at the public price of €74.99.

The latest version of the construction shown here dates from 2019 with the set 75947 Hagrid's Hut Buckbeak's Rescue (496 pieces - €64.99) and LEGO is taking the very laudable initiative this year to offer us a cabin inspired by the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets closed on all its sides with the added bonus of the possibility of removing the roof and opening the construction to make an easily accessible playset. So we finally get the best of both worlds, even if we have to pay a price.

Nothing to say about the textural effects on the walls and roof even if some will find it all a little crude in places, it is consistent with the cabin seen on the screen. Even if the moss and grass are crudely interpreted here, the main attributes of the cabin in the film are there, it is perhaps lacking enough to raise it a little and add a few steps in front of the entrance but it is already very good Thus.

The roof is removable and it can be easily removed without breaking everything. Then simply unhook the two front half-sections and move them aside to open up the space which will serve as a play area for the youngest. In the opposite direction, the cabin will quickly be put away while waiting for other adventures, it's well designed.

The interior designs are successful without doing too much and leaving room to install a few figurines. Hagrid can sit in his armchair, there is something to sit on, some furniture including the shell of Norbert's egg is installed and some decorations are attached to the walls. This is enough for us to recognize the places. There are also four stickers to stick but nothing prohibitive.

In this box we obtain two of the fourteen collectible portraits which have been supplied with certain sets of the Harry Potter range since the beginning of the year, one of them serves as wall decoration and the other is stored in a cupboard . It's up to you to exchange them with your friends if you have any duplicates. Alongside the main construction, we also assemble the Crockdur doghouse. Nothing crazy, but it still makes for a truly complete diorama.

In terms of figurines, fans are rather well served here with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and Rubeus Hagrid. Two figurines complete the assortment: Crockdur and Norbert. Harry, Hermione, Ron and Hagrid are new in this form, Fangdur is finally entitled to his LEGO version and the update of Norbert's design is welcome.

LEGO is therefore making a good effort with this box which ticks all the boxes and which does not skimp on playability or casting. There remains the public price of this product, very high, which may make some fans hesitate. We can already find this box for a little cheaper elsewhere than at LEGO, with a little patience it will undoubtedly be possible to make some additional savings and this set will then be a convincing and accessible product.

75382 lego starwars tie interceptor ucs 1

Today we're quickly talking about the contents of the LEGO Star Wars set Ultimate Collector Series 75382 TIE Interceptor, a box of 1931 pieces which is currently available at the public price of €229.99.

25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range obliges, LEGO reinvents this ship seen during the 2000s in the set 7181 TIE Interceptor but the homage stops here to the subject treated as the 2024 version returns the previous one to the rank of a crude and approximate model which has aged very badly. This year, LEGO is offering a version which offers both more refinement and fidelity to the reference ship and the model will proudly sit on the shelves of the most dedicated fans. The wink that will perhaps please the fans: here we find the two shovels already used in 2000 in the central section of the wings.

The assembly is rather entertaining with an almost round central ball flanked by sub-assemblies which give it its final shape and a few stickers placed inside which will at least have the advantage of not being exposed to light and dust . The two large discs which adorn the central section of the vessel are pad printed, this was the bare minimum for a product stamped with the logo Ultimate Collector Series.

The four wings are quickly assembled, they are made up of several layers including a very colorful central slice which brings a little diversity and an outline which contributes to the finish of the model by very clearly highlighting the angles of each of the wings .

There are a lot of tenons visible on the external surface of the wings and not everyone will agree with this aesthetic choice, I am personally not shocked by the presence of so many tenons, they end up being forgotten and their presence in mass ensures very acceptable visual uniformity.

Difficult to talk about the repetitiveness of the assembly sequences here, it is the subject which requires assembling the same wing sections or the panels which cover the central ball twice.

75382 lego starwars tie interceptor ucs 11

75382 lego starwars tie interceptor ucs 13

We could also discuss the massive appearance of the central ball and the two arms on which we attach the wings, I think the designer is doing quite well and the whole thing works visually if we don't get too close. of the model.

Closer, there are still some spaces that are a little empty in places but the level of detail more than compensates for these aesthetic approximations and I prefer a solid model which does not bend under its own weight even if it means sacrificing a little the finesse of certain appendages.

The compromise seems to me to be very well struck here, the branches which extend from the cockpit are massive but dressed to make them visually "lighter" than what they really are with their internal section based on Technic beams.

This TIE Interceptor is installed on its presentation support as soon as the central section is assembled, it is well seen and very practical to then be able to add the wings without having to grab the construction from the cockpit at the risk of seeing some elements come loose.

The support is simple, it ensures optimal stability for the model with an angle which allows it to be observed from all angles and the vessel is not fixed on the rod which is housed under the cockpit, allowing removal without effort of the TIE Interceptor to have a little fun with it.

The whole thing is impeccably rigid, you will however have to be careful during handling with some surface elements which risk coming off in places. This is the lot of most exhibition models, this TIE Interceptor is not a child's toy.

The display is flanked by the essential pad-printed plaque which provides some information about the ship, the now traditional and still identical brick celebrating the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range, a Mouse Droid and a figurine, a pilot with the outfit already seen in other boxes but which is here equipped with pad-printed arms new for the moment.

If you only buy these products for the exclusive minifigs they contain, do not bet too much on the exclusive nature of some of them, the following know we are never really safe from seeing them again later in other much less expensive sets. This will for example be the case this year with the Captain Rex minifig which was until now exclusive to the LEGO Star Wars set 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser (€649.99) and which is found this year in a box at €13.

This TIE Interceptor in 2024 version is undoubtedly not the most flamboyant product in the range Ultimate Collector Series but it was time for LEGO to look at the subject again by taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the evolution of the inventory since the 2000s.

In my opinion, the contract is largely fulfilled with a result that meets what we have the right to expect in 2024 from the manufacturer, it is well executed even if the subject treated imposes a certain visual austerity. For the little story to tell during an evening with friends, we will remember that it is the same designer who is in charge of two versions of this ship at LEGO, Henrik Andersen.

Is it absolutely necessary to spend €230 for this model? Yes if you take advantage of the promotional offers currently in progress to get some gifts that are always welcome to help you pass the pill.

The product offers an assembly "experience" without any hassle or overly complex passages and the progression of the construction is very satisfactory even if one has the impression of arriving very or too quickly at the end of the instruction booklet. instructions. This TIE Interceptor will then easily find its place on a shelf alongside an X-wing also in Ultimate Collector Series.

75381 lego starwars droideka 1

Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75381 Droideka, a box of 583 pieces available since May 1, 2024 on the official store at the public price of €64.99 and for a little less elsewhere.

You will have understood this if you were already passionate about LEGO products in the 2000s, this product stamped with the logo celebrating the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range pays homage to the LEGO Technic version of the Droideka then marketed under the reference 8002 Droid Destroyer.

From the initial approach exclusively based on elements from the Technic ecosystem, only a few subassemblies using these parts remain here but the reference to the version of the time is very present.

The Droideka gains here in finish thanks to the balanced mix between beams and more classic parts, it is in my opinion aesthetically very successful if you observe the thing from a certain distance.

Up close, it's visually a little messy in places but the challenge was met and I think the designer is doing quite well. The construction remains fragile in places, it will be necessary to handle it with care, especially when trying to take advantage of THE integrated functionality: the possibility of putting the droid into a ball.

The transformation process is relatively simple but the droid is not fully modular. It is indeed necessary to temporarily remove its three legs to reverse their direction and then fold the arms and the central mane to obtain the desired effect.

We could have hoped for a better integrated solution to reverse the direction of the legs but this is a detail which does not harm the product as the simple possibility of being able to put it in a moving position is appreciable. In the other direction, the Droideka obviously does not deploy automatically, it must be manually returned to the attack position.

We are therefore here more on an exhibition model which offers two distinct variants than on a toy with accomplished functionalities, this Droideka is designed to end its career on the corner of a shelf instead of spending hours rolling on the ground between the hands of the youngest fans.

75381 lego starwars droideka 8

This bias is reinforced by the presence of a plate distilling a few facts about the droid like the products in the range Ultimate Collector Series. The presence of the small display supporting the plaque, the brick celebrating the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range and the micro version of the Droideka may seem superfluous but it is ultimately this accessory which announces the color and gives its model positioning to the product , while creating a collector's effect which seems rather appreciated by collectors.

The mini thing that sits on the display and which in principle is also a Droideka on a reduced scale is not the best, but we will still appreciate the effort to expand a little on the support delivered in this box with a reproduction of the main model: it is completely in line with the other products which use the same “collector” layout.

For those who are wondering, the plate presenting the droid is pad printed as in the sets of the universe Ultimate Collector Series but you still have to stick a few stickers on the body of the main construction of the set. This Droideka will, however, do just fine without these stickers if you decide not to apply them.

I am on arrival rather convinced by this modernized homage and which makes good use of the complementarity between the elements of the Technic ecosystem and the more classic pieces of the LEGO inventory, it is in my opinion very successful and the possibility putting the Droideka into a ball is a nice refinement.

The few black whips used are annoying because they never fail to come off, the whole thing is a little fragile in places especially when transforming the droid but the construction still looks great.

As is often the case, it will be appropriate to try to pay a little less than the €65 requested by LEGO, unless you take advantage of the May the 4th promotional operation currently in progress on the official online store to offer you some gifts in thank you for your financial effort. I gave in without waiting, this set is worth the effort in my opinion and the products offered more than compensate for the impression of having paid a little too much for what it really has to offer.

A few hours before the launch of the promotional operation which will allow you to get this product, today we take a quick tour of the contents of the LEGO Star Wars set 40686 Trade Federation Troop Carrier which will be automatically added to the basket as soon as the minimum required purchase amount of €160 in products from the LEGO Star Wars range is reached. In this small box of 262 pieces, enough to assemble a Trade Federation troop transport with its six generic Battle Droids and its two pilots.

The set is part of the celebration of 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars range and pays homage to the set 7126 Battle Droid Carrier marketed in 2001 by taking up some of the ideas implemented at the time on a model which was then cruder and much less accomplished in terms of finish. The and 75086 Battle Droid Troop Carrier of 2015 displayed an aesthetic bias very different from what LEGO offers today with this return to the sources in terms of design and aesthetic refinements to best exploit current possibilities.

The product also benefits from some welcome features with the possibility of removing the rack which accommodates the battle droids and there are moving parts to visually simulate the ejection of the six figurines provided. Nothing crazy, but we're not going to complain that LEGO is making an effort to offer a construction offering a minimum of playability, even if it's a promotional product.

The supply of figurines is correct even if we all already have several handfuls of droids in our drawers from collecting them from LEGO Star Wars Advent calendars and we even get two pilots here with their distinctive torsos. Too bad, the pad printing of these elements is not really up to par with a beige area on a blue background which does not match and which is affected by defects due to the presence of the manufacturer's logo.

40686 lego starwars trade federation troop carrier may 4th 2024 gwp 5

We also get a new copy of the brick provided to celebrate 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars range, it is still the same and it would have benefited from being available in personalized variants depending on the subject covered in the box concerned. We'll be happy with that. No stickers to stick here, the product didn't need them anyway.

This promotional product seems to me to live up to what we can expect from a manufacturer who imposes a relatively high minimum purchase on us to receive it, €160 in this specific case, and this box would have could also have been sold without having to blush in the face of other products in the LEGO Star Wars range which are sometimes much less convincing. Taking advantage of the offer will therefore allow you to celebrate two anniversaries with dignity: the 25th anniversary of theEpisode I. (The Phantom Menace) and 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars range.

It will also be possible not to fall for the official online store and to turn to the secondary market to obtain your copy of this little box, there should be many sellers there from the launch of the operation and prices should logically drop as supply increases. It's for you to see. In any case, I'm not going to complain about being entitled to a real product with an accomplished design as part of a promotional offer, it's always better than a simple polybag without much interest or a scrap metal charm off topic.
