70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

Today we take a look at The LEGO Movie 2 set 70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket (706 pieces - 64.99 €), a box which features the ideal home of the very optimistic and a little naive Emmet and / or a slightly wacky vessel (and a separator of colored bricks Teal).

This box is stamped "2-in-1" and we are therefore promised to be able to assemble two different constructions using the inventory provided: the house seen in the film in the middle of the desert plains surrounding Apocalypseburg and the spacecraft. built by Emmet from this house.

Note that LEGO provides two separate instruction booklets, that the bags are not numbered and that one construction must be completely disassembled to assemble the second. No sub-assembly is reused by the other model, but you can leave the panes to the windows ...

I started with the construction featured on one of the two sides of the box, namely Emmet's house. Nothing to say about the house itself, it's Creator in The LEGO Movie 2 sauce with the classic techniques of stacking parts which often give a very correct result.

The roof uses some special techniques that allow it to house the parts that will later be used to make the slope of the roof of the other model in the set, it is well seen and some will find some ideas for their future creations. .

70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

But it is when it comes to assembling the "accessories" that come to surround the house that we understand the logic of the designers with this box: it is indeed the spaceship that was designed first and if the most of the inventory used to mount the walls and the roof logically finds its place in the alternative construction, it was necessary to find what to do with all the elements that make up the engines and the engine of the ship.

The result: a series of small, uninteresting assemblages that some people wonder what they really represent. The only interesting element in this amalgam of accessories, the micro-vessel, a nod to the other construction offered by this set.

As I said above, the house is at the level of what we usually find in the Creator range. The finishes are very decent with nice arches on the windows, a well-designed roof and a minimalist but very well appointed interior.

70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

Not enough to have fun for hours with this house, but it is nicely done with the possibility of opening the construction to obtain a quite acceptable playset and to close everything while storing the minifigs in the passage.

Since I started with the house, I then had to take everything apart so that I could assemble the crafted ship by Emmet to go in pursuit of Sweet Mayhem. This disassembly step is not really laborious, you just have to sort the parts by color with the arrival of yellow, blue and the rest.

The assembly of the vessel is also relatively simple and accessible to the youngest, it is the stacking of parts. The whole inventory goes through it and the end result is really cool. If I had known, I would have skipped the first model and its host of unnecessary accessories to go directly to the ship.

70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

This alternative model is sufficient on its own, with its removable roof which gives access to an interior / cockpit spacious enough to house Emmet, pretty engines grafted to the rear and sides and even two discreetly launchers. integrated under the cabin.

If you are giving the box to a distracted young fan, remind them that to assemble the ship, they will need the entire inventory in the box. If it starts with the house, it is better not to store the various additional elements that accompany the construction at the bottom of a toy box at the risk of not being able to assemble the ship afterwards. If he starts with the ship, he will probably never build the house ...

70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

As for the minifigs provided, LEGO is rather generous. Emmet and Lucy Wyldstyle (Cool-Tag) are once again in the game but these two characters already present in many sets are here accompanied by Rex Dangervest and Unikitty. Rex even comes with an opaque visor helmet AND with additional hair that allows you to enjoy the character with your face uncovered.

Unikitty does not come in two copies, LEGO simply delivers enough to transform it into a sleeping or angry version with two faces and the part that constitutes the body of the unicorn. How you prefer it is up to you, but you can't have both at the same time.

70831 Emmet's Dream House / Rescue Rocket

This set is ultimately a very good surprise in a range populated with more or less interesting boxes. Emmet's DIY ship from home is one of the few creative modifications seen in the second installment of The LEGO Movie saga and so for me that's a big yes, especially at the price Amazon currently charges:

75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack

We will hurry with the LEGO Star Wars set 75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack (118 pieces - € 14.99), a small box based on the Star Wars Battlefront 2 video game that doesn't deserve to be spent hours in it.

As the title suggests, this set is a Battle Pack, or a small affordable box that often allows us to add units to our armies depending on the number of sets we will acquire.

This features three characters whose contribution to the Star Wars universe stops at the gates of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 video game (Iden Versio, Gideon Hask and Del Meeko) and a fourth, Seyn Marana, a female character who does not is not even in the game and which only appears in a book inspired by the game called Battlefront II: The Inferno Squad.
Suffice to say that if you focus your collection on products derived from films, you can skip it here without regret.

star wars battlefront2 characters

We immediately evacuate the machine provided in this small set, which LEGO presents to us as a speeder but which I consider rather a microfighter loosely based on the Corvus, the ship that allows the Inferno squad to reach the theater of operations. It's minimalist but it's there to ensure the product's "building game" quota, so we make do with it.

75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack

A Battle Pack is also and above all a lot of often generic minifigs that allow us to complete our armies. In addition to the presence of Iden Versio, there are therefore three members of the Inferno squad whose torso, legs and helmet are identical. However, three different faces are provided for these soldiers that you can always try to have fun recognizing.

75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack

Who is Gideon Hask? What minifigs do Seyn Marana and Del Meeko represent? It's up to you to see and, if you're a fan of the game, the weapons each one carries can help infer who is who. It is not of capital importance anyway, LEGO is content to present these minifigs as simple "Inferno Squad Agents".

It still lacks the DIO droid used by the squad in the game. A few more pieces would not have changed much on the margin of the manufacturer and the fans would have been in heaven.

LEGO provides two bat black belts, but only one character wears this accessory in this set. I also used the second, I find these minifigs are visually more attractive with this belt.

75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack

Great job from LEGO on the reproduction of the minifig outfits. It's not quite the same as the outfit of the characters in the game but it's enough. Iden Versio has the right skin tone, we find his right shoulder pad with red stripes and the pilot helmets already seen in other shades in the LEGO Star Wars range are here very faithful to the versions present in the game.

With the savings made on the pad printing in one color of the three torsos of the members of the commando, LEGO could however have split a red band on the arms of the different characters, just to add a touch of color to the outfit of these minifigs.

starwars battlefront 2 iden versio

Too bad the weapons are the usual coin throwers, two of which are already present on the ship itself. As I said above, it is also thanks to these different weapons that we can identify the members of the squad and pretty specific blasters would have been appreciated.

In short, if you've played Star Wars Battlefront 2, this Battle Pack is for you. If you are indiscriminately collecting LEGO Star Wars minifigs as long as they are never-before-seen, this Battle Pack is for you too.

In any case, you have no reason to pay for this set at full price, it is sold at a price slightly lower than its public price all year round at amazon:

70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike!

Today we take a quick look at The LEGO Movie 2 set 70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike! (461 pieces - 64.99 €) which stages one of the multiple metamorphoses of MetalBeard alias Barbe d'Acier.

On the menu of this small set of 461 pieces, the assembly of a motorcycle in Steampunk / Mad Max sauce which will undoubtedly find its audience, if the latter agrees to pay a high price for it. The motorcycle in question is in fact based on an assembly in the shape of a pirate ship on which are grafted the various mechanical elements that transform it into a wheeled vehicle. It's original, solid and playable, in addition to providing enthusiasts with a set of five rims and five tires that can be reused elsewhere.

On the left side is a set of two coin-operated spring cannons. Simple but effective with the possibility of precisely orienting the two guns to target the opponent's eyes. The "body" of MetalBeard is also orientable and the two barrels which in fact constitute its arms can also be positioned as you see fit thanks to two Ball Seals.

70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike!

On the right, a shark-launching cannon is integrated. No particular mechanism on this weapon, you just have to push hard on the button placed at the back to eject the shark placed on the ramp, a little in the spirit of the net launchers seen in other sets.

Nothing very exciting, the shark especially tends to come crashing down softly on the ground for lack of projection power at the barrel. The functionality, however, has the merit of existing and offering something to kill the annoying Sweet Mayhem.

The motorcycle, about thirty centimeters long, is covered with small details that keep it between two waters: brown and some nautical accessories to recall the origins of Steelbeard and a large engine with four exhaust pipes for make a hybrid chopper ready to do battle in Carmaggedon mode on the plains surrounding Apocalypseburg. The mix of genres works quite well and it is consistent with the other versions of Steelbeard delivered in the different sets of the range that put this character in the spotlight.

70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike!

As usual, MetalBeard never moves without his lockbox containing his entrails and we therefore find here the object integrated under the head of the character with two sausages and two bones inside. For those who are wondering, there are no suspensions on the wheels.

The fundamentalists of the minifig will have noticed that this box is one of those which shamelessly mixes minifigs and mini-dolls. It is a trend launched by the film and its derivative products, we will have to do with it, no offense to some.

70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike!

To accompany MetalBeard, LEGO therefore includes Sweet Mayhem, with his helmet and additional hair that allows you to enjoy the character's face, ApocalypseBorg Benny with his robotic arm, his welding kit on his back and his pad-printed visor and the yellow star "Star". Besides Benny, the other star of the set will be for some the shark with its metal plate screwed on the head.

Benny already comes with this robotic arm in the collectible pouch minifig series (ref. Lego 71023) which brings together twenty more or less interesting characters, but it is not equipped with its welding machine or the visor delivered here. Note that you can slide the tools you want into the right arm.

70834 MetalBeard's Heavy Metal Motor Trike!

In summary, this set could be of interest if it was not sold at the prohibitive price of 64.99 €. In my opinion, it is much too expensive as it is, it will be necessary to wait for a promotion or an inevitable destocking to afford Benny in version ApocalypseBorg with its full equipment as well as the shark missile with its "repair" on the left eye. And the little pink heart.

Note: The set shown here, supplied by Warner Bros., is included as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before March 11, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.

Bonus with the set: Two codes to be exchanged for two cinema tickets (Pathé Gaumont) to see the film offered by Bertrand and a collector's album set + 3 packs of collectable cards offered by Legostef. Thanks to them.

75234 AT-AP

Back to the LEGO Star Wars side of the lineup with a quick set test 75234 AT-AP Walker (689 pieces - 74.99 €). Collectors are familiar with this set, or rather its content, which is only a barely revisited reissue of the set. 75043 AT-AP of 2014.

For others and especially those who remember the furtive appearance of the machine on the beaches of Kashyyyk in Episode III, this set will only be an opportunity to get the thing at a more reasonable price than that of the 2014 version still on sale in the aftermarket.

Even as a fan of Star Wars and related LEGO merchandise, I find it hard to get excited about this box. We can't fault this AT-AP for its overall appearance, quite faithful to the film's model, but it's a bit too rough for my taste when it comes to going into detail.

75234 AT-AP

The shapes are there and the designer has undoubtedly done his best to respect the angles of the cabin of the machine. There are still some rather unsightly spaces here and there but this "new" version has obviously not been the subject of serious brainstorming to correct the small flaws of the 2014 version.

The side doors with their opaque glazing always disappear altogether in favor of hatches which do not even have a closing mechanism and only remain in place by the effect of gravity. Two black pieces are used to represent what I think is glass in the film.

Seen from behind, the machine is immediately less attractive with its Technic parts which constitute the framework of the legs and its many blue pins which spoil the rendering a little. The central foot, especially used on difficult terrain or in the firing phase with the main gun, folds up under the cabin and remains held by a somewhat minimalist latch that must be positioned correctly. Why not, it's always one more feature in a set that ultimately doesn't have a lot of it.

75234 AT-AP

The most successful part of the machine is undoubtedly the spacious cockpit which can accommodate two minifigs and whose central console displays (via a sticker) a Droid Gunship on which the AT-AP is about to fire. You can choose between the attention to detail or a subliminal message in reference to the other essential set to reproduce the confrontation on the beaches of Kashyyyk, the box 75233 Droid Gunship.

No particular stability problem, whether on two or three legs and the rear a little bald also allows to catch the machine without accidentally moving the few movable panels of the cabin. The central leg is articulated so that it can be folded up and stored under the cabin, so it is not provided with a locking device in the unfolded version and only has an aesthetic function.

The three integrated cannons do not fire anything, you have to rely on the machine launcher placed at the top of the cabin to shoot stuff.

75234 AT-AP

As for the minifigs, it's really vintage: No bi-injection legs and sometimes a little rough pad printing, especially on the glasses of the Kashyyyk Clone Trooper whose green background overflows with the black border. This minifigure is also only a barely modified version in terms of the legs of the one seen in the set 75151 Clone Turbo Tank (2014)

You also have to really want to play the seven mistakes game to spot the differences between the 2014 version of Commander Gree and this year's minifigure. It is the strap on the top of the left leg that changes color ... The torso and the helmet of the character are identical to those of the minifig delivered in the sets 75043 AT-AP et 75151 Clone Turbo Tank.

75234 AT-AP

In the box, LEGO also provides an umpteenth version of Chewbacca already delivered in about ten boxes and two copies of the colorful Battle Droids already seen in the set. 75233 Droid Gunship. Too bad these two droids weren't accompanied here by even a minimalist version of the NR-N99 central track tank seen in the film, just to have a lot of fun right out of the box.

75234 AT-AP

In short, as for the set 75233 Droid Gunship, nothing to cry out for creative genius here. This box will not become a staple of the LEGO Star Wars range but it will at least allow latecomers fans of Episode III or the animated series The Clone Wars to complete their collections. For LEGO, you always have to have an AT-AP on the shelf and this somewhat lazy reissue will do the trick for a few years.

74.99 € is way too expensive for what this box has to offer, but as usual Amazon sets the record straight with a price that makes it almost affordable:

70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy!

Today we quickly tour the The LEGO Movie 2 set 70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy! (348 pieces - 29.99 €), a small box which features the multicolored unicorn in a (really) edgy version.

Obviously, this 300 piece figure offers much more interesting playability than the usual versions of Unikitty, Angrykittty or Machinkitty which are content with a few stacked pieces.

But it can also quickly become very annoying with its many joints and moving parts that don't want to stay in place. When the desired position is achieved by orienting Ultrakatty's limbs, head and tail, the figure can be displayed in a diorama. Playing with it is a bit more complicated.

70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy!

The head, tail and the top of the legs are held in place by Ball Seals which make these elements easily orientable and with precision. The lower legs, less plush, are more difficult to handle and it is not uncommon for some parts to come off. It's annoying, but we'll make do with it.

The same goes for the collar made from brown sabers or the two horns attached to the creature's helmet, which are simply clipped onto their support and come off from time to time if you are not careful.

You need to stick some stickers on the creature's body for the armor, but the four pieces with orange flames on a red background used for the legs are pad printed. Too bad the large brown pieces placed on the top of the legs are not decorated.

70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy!

LEGO is providing three different faces for Ultrakatty, pad printed on a new 5 stud piece, to be replaced to change the unicorn's expression. The exchange is not instantaneous, you have to dismantle a few parts to access the one that needs to be replaced.

These three pieces are only pad printed on one side, a double-sided printing could perhaps have allowed to have an alternative face without having to look everywhere for the replacement brick.

In the example below, I have chosen to disassemble the headdress of the figurine to replace the face, but you can also go through the bottom of the face by removing the two yellow pieces using a brick separator (not supplied in this set).

70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy!

In the box, LEGO delivers (again) Emmet and Lucy Wyldstyle (Cool-Tag) as well as a brick-based Alien DUPLO System identical in construction to the one seen in the set 70823 Emmet's Thricycle!. Difficult to do otherwise, the scene in question here does not include other main characters of the cast.

Even if the reproduction of the DUPLO format using bricks System is interesting, I still wonder if LEGO might not have done better to put some real DUPLO bricks directly into these boxes, just to be really in the spirit of the beginning of the film.

If you plan to combine the contents of this box with that of the set 70829 Emmet & Lucy's Escape Buggy (instructions to download at this address), you will therefore have two copies of Emmet and Lucy, two crossbows and two (NEVER) STOP signs. You will have the right to lose one copy of each.

70827 Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy!

In short, I want to be indulgent with this little box which features my favorite character from the second part of The LEGO Movie saga. By applying, it is possible to find really nice postures to stage this pretty figurine and you can even use it to indicate your current mood to your loved ones thanks to the different expressions provided.

Collectors addicted to the character of Unikitty (I know there are) will not be able to ignore this version anyway.

The rest of the contents of this small box do not justify paying this set at a high price (29.99 €) and amazon fortunately already offers it at a much more reasonable price:
