I went to see The LEGO Movie 2. I have just left the cinema and I prefer to react hot (without spoilers) not to idealize too much with the passage of time an animated film that is ultimately very correct but which will not leave me a lasting memory. So here are some very personal impressions of the film.

On the form, first of all: it's very messy and you get lost a bit as soon as you leave Apocalypseburg. The hysterical road trip which follows the invasion of the evil aliens DUPLO is dotted with songs of little interest loosely adapted in French version and which regularly pulled yawns to the children present in the room. Despite the common thread of the film, the scenario seems really convoluted and disjointed beyond the first half hour.

Even the characters in the film regularly show their annoyance at having to endure musical interludes that take turns to tunes from musical comedy songs or syrupy RNB. Guaranteed, none of these songs will ever become the hit it was Everything is Awesome (Everything is Super Awesome) in his days. The LEGO Movie 2 is not, however, a musical and the various "clips" ultimately only serve to stage a host of secondary characters who would have nothing to do there without this pretext.

Visually, it's at the level of the first part, with a digital reproduction of the bricks and minifigs still impressive. Fingerprints, scratches, wear of parts, everything is there, we believe it. Moreover, in this second part, we do not build much and the characters spend most of their time destroying things. The visually impressive assembly and transformation sequences seen in the first installment are rather rare here. Unsurprisingly, the first half hour remains the favorite of the children I accompanied. Apocalypseburg, lawsuits, action, it works.

On the merits: Warner undoubtedly wanted to ensure that no lobby would be able to criticize the subject of the film and the studio is abundantly serving soup to everyone in order to save themselves a possible bad buzz. Tolerance, acceptance of difference, sexism, feminism, self-esteem, etc ... everything goes and everything is mixed. Almost every exchange between the characters is punctuated by moralizing dialogues and the songs are not left out. The rare real gags present in the film are drowned in these endless tirades and it becomes difficult to laugh frankly.

As a result of the races, none of these messages has any real impact on the spectator, in any case not on the young children whom I was accompanying who, beyond the first half hour, admit to being a little bored. They had come to see the continuation of a first part rich in action scenes and gags which hit the mark, they leave a little disappointed and do not really remember any striking gag or particular chorus. Even Emmet has become an annoying character.

The arrival of Rex Dangervest (Rex Danger in French ...), of his relaxation, his frankness and his raptors allows at least temporarily to find a new hero less cheerful than Emmet and less annoying than Batman who makes it here crates for not much. In the end, the children I accompanied largely designated Rex as their favorite character, even ignoring the film's scriptwriting somersaults ...

Cool-Tag is frankly massacred by TAL who recites his great philosophical tirades like a student of CM2 and the character loses all credibility from the start. Everyone has their own job, even if I understand that the film must be sold by calling on a few headliners to promote it.

Benny is here relegated to the rank of secondary character incapable of doing anything other than stupidly repeating his usual gimmick (spaceship, spaceship, etc ...) which makes this character, endearing in the first part, almost unbearable in this second opus.

Unikitty / Ultrakatty is the real star of the first part, Warner and LEGO have in my opinion been able to highlight this character and give him the place he deserves in this sequel without much flavor. Too bad the multicolored unicorn quickly fades into the background after a few very successful scenes.

Warner also injected into the film all the licenses a little geek of the moment (of which the studio holds the rights) with flash appearances of many characters, vehicles and other objects from different universes that the youngest do not know but which allow parents to stay alert. On the sidelines of the Justice League, Gandalf or the characters of the Wizard of Oz, the real big wink for adults is rather unexpected but it hits the mark.

In this second part, the interactions between the real world and toys are more numerous. It's logical, the surprise pitch of the first opus being stale, we had to continue the story by integrating this parameter. The game of the "real" actors is at the level of a late-afternoon sitcom, with an Oscar to be awarded to the mother of the two kids that the director forces to play (badly) THE recurring gag around the LEGO bricks and even to do it twice in case the adult who accompanies his children to the cinema does not understand. It's overplayed, badly played, badly led.

In short, The LEGO Movie 2 is undoubtedly good entertainment for LEGO fans, young and old, who will inevitably be indulgent. Too bad Warner feels compelled to impose on us an overly talkative film whose message is lost in the middle of boring musical sequences and loosely formatted dialogues to lecture children.

Regarding derivative products, it's business as usual: the sets sold exploit everything that happens on the screen, even for half a second. The stars of certain clubs are not necessarily the stars of the film ...

If you have already seen the film, do not hesitate to give your impressions in the comments (without spoilers please). Otherwise, go see it and make up your own mind. There will be as many opinions as there are spectators.

This year, LEGO has decided that very young fans also have the right to assemble Star Wars and that gives in particular the set 75235 X-Wing Starfighter Trench Run, a small box of the "4+" range sold for 29.99 € with 132 pieces, two minifigs and a droid.

We first evacuate the accompanying content which is delivered here in the form of a portion of the Death Star that must be attacked using the X-Wing provided. Nothing complex regarding the assembly, everything is thought out so that those arriving from the LEGO DUPLO range gradually adapt to the format and techniques of the products System.

Even if LEGO announces a little pompously that it is the scene of the "Run Trench", do not seek here the fidelity of the reproduction and just say that the structure is intended for the children to have fun. A turbolaser cannon, a disc launcher with some additional ammunition, a few barrels to overturn, there are what to do.

To attack the Death Star, you need an X-Wing. Good thing, there is one in the box. Or rather a ship that vaguely resembles an X-Wing. Here too, the simplification is taken to the extreme and the final look of the ship suffers. But everyone knows that it's usually enough to position four wings crosswise and fans, especially those aged four, will immediately see it as an X-Wing.

This one is really very cartoonish, more in the spirit microfighter than anything else. The adult fan that I am is obviously disappointed with the look of the thing, especially at the cockpit level with its basic canopy that does not completely cover the cockpit, but I am not the target of the product, it is LEGO who says so.

The confrontation is likely to be uneven because the X-Wing does not have any playable weaponry, not even a Stud Shooter. It will be necessary to do pew pew to hope to explode the Death Star.

More regrettable, there is no housing for the astromech droid R2-D2 on the structure of the ship, so it will take a little imagination not to leave it docked before going on a mission. The wings fold up easily, no complicated mechanism or rubber bands here. No mobile landing gear either.

No sticker in this set, everything is pad printed and some parts of the X-Wing can eventually be used to replace those covered with stickers in other sets more popular with adult fans. Despite the meta-part used for the fuselage, the X-Wing does not float.

On the minifig side, only Luke Skywalker's double-sided head with raised visor on one side is currently exclusive to this set. The helmet, torso and legs are already available in a handful of other boxes. Enough for the most complete collectors to make the effort.

The Stormtrooper is here equipped with the new helmet seen in the set 75229 Death Star Escape and which will also be delivered in the anniversary set 75262 Imperial Dropship. We like it or not, but we have to live with it.

R2-D2 is not new or exclusive, it is the version already delivered in a good dozen boxes of the LEGO Star Wars range and even with an activity book for 8 €.

In short, nothing to say about this set. If you have young children and you absolutely want to get them into the Star Wars gear early on instead of letting them gorge themselves on the adventures of Dora and Babouche, you can give them this set and discreetly steal the minifig of Luke Skywalker. Or replace it with a Frozen mini-doll.

Otherwise, you can also wait for Amazon to break the price of this box, which is sure to happen.

We stay in The LEGO Movie 2 theme with a quick look at the contents of the set 70823 Emmet's Thricycle! (174 pieces - 14.99 €).

Emmet's tricycle to be assembled here has three wheels, but they are aligned to form a somewhat wacky machine and probably difficult to pilot. To be checked in the film, but it seems that the various elements of the machine are salvage parts from the Construct-O-Mech from the first film.

Emmet, here accompanied by Planty, takes his place in the cockpit and the wheel in contact with the ground drives the other two by friction when the tricycle is in motion. Useless, but why not. The machine only stands up thanks to the two folding supports placed at the bottom.

Luckily, there's also a nasty brick-based DUPLO alien. System and an additional construction in this little box. The Octan gas pump with its two vintage-look stickers will find its place at the foot of Apocalypseburg if you have invested in the set 70840 Welcome to Apocalypseburg.

The set which features the gasoline pump also serves as a storage space for the tricycle, the lower supports of which slide into the spaces provided. LEGO only provides one minifig in this box and this is again the usual version of Emmet ...

In short, not enough to philosophize for a long time on the content of this funny little set which should appeal to the youngest. It is a choice of a product to add to the shopping cart before checking out or a complement for those who want to expand their diorama in the center of which is the city of Apocalypseburg. Today we take a quick look at the LEGO Marvel set 76127 Captain Marvel and The Skrull Attack (307 pieces - 29.99 €), the only box based on the Captain Marvel movie expected in theaters on March 6.

To be honest, I was surprised and then disappointed by the content of the set, but I forgot that this little box of 300 pieces with its three minifigs is only sold for around XNUMX euros. Obviously, if we put all these parameters in perspective, we find some explanations that minimize the disappointment.

So don't expect to assemble a Quinjet the size of those in the sets 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle (2012)  76032 The Avengers Quinjet City Chase (2015) et 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle (2016). This is a very compact (and vintage) version of the ship seen in the movie trailer that LEGO offers. It almost looks more like a big Microfighter than a small classic ship loosely on a minifig scale.

Only Nick Fury enters the tiny cockpit, Carol Danvers cannot fit there because of her hair too voluminous. The canopy is not fixed to the cabin, it must be removed completely to put the minifig in place and then reassemble everything. The result is hardly ridiculous for anyone accustomed to larger ships, but younger ones are likely to find what they are looking for.

The level of detail of this first generation Quinjet remains very correct even at this reduced scale and the few stickers provided largely contribute to polish the thing. Always so annoying, you have to dress the canopy of the cockpit with a few stickers and it's ugly in addition to being difficult.

The youngest will be able to knock out things using the two rocket launchers nicely integrated under the wings and whose mechanism ejects four missiles at a time. A hatch opens at the back of the ship, but other than the cat, it's hard to slip anything inside.

On the minifig side, there are some good, some not so good and some downright mediocre. Young Nick Fury is absolutely correct with his shirt, tie and holster. We do not necessarily recognize Samuel L. Jackson, but we know that it is him so we will end up convincing ourselves that there is a resemblance between the figurine and the actor.

Regarding Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, it will take even more imagination to find Brie Larson in the minifig provided. Neither the truly generic facial features already used in the LEGO Star Wars range to reproduce the face of Qi'Ra (Emilia Clarke) nor the hair color seem convincing enough to me to associate this minifigure with the one that embodies Carol Danvers. on the screen. Brie Larson seems to me to be more blonde than anything else.

The torso of Captain Marvel is successful, it is in any case faithful to the version of the outfit seen in the various trailers already released. Too bad for the legs which are here neutral and which could have benefited from a bi-injection version with red boots.

Talos, the Skrull on duty, is in my opinion a failure. The torso does the trick, but the headdress used to replicate the character's pointed ears is a bit ridiculous. In my opinion, it was enough to pad two ears without adding anything on the character's head to avoid this elf look from the Juniors range. The savings thus achieved would have made it possible to finance a fabric "skirt" to embody the sides of Talos' coat and a pair of legs in two colors for the Captain Marvel minifigure ...

I forgot, Carol Danvers is here with Goose, her cat. It is a cat identical to the one that also hung out in the Batcave (76052), In the Old Fishing Store (21310) or in the Detective's office (10246). What a cat.

In short, this set has at least the merit of existing and allowing us to obtain a new version of Nick Fury and a new minifigure of Captain "almost" Marvel after that of the set 76049 Avenjet Space Mission (2016)

The Quinjet is a micro version that can't be faulted aesthetically but is too compact to be believable and Talos' minifigure doesn't really pay homage to the character in the film.

For 30 € or a little less in the coming months, I will still make the effort to add this box to my collection because it is the only product derived from the film offered by LEGO.

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO Star Wars set 75233 Droid Gunship (389 pieces - 59.99 €), which follows the set 75042 Droid Gunship marketed in 2014 which had itself in its time taken over the version of the set 7678 Droid Gunship launched in 2008. There is almost always a Droid Gunship on the shelves at LEGO.

We can also see here a message from LEGO to those who have gotten into the habit of storing these boxes in the hope that one day they will be able to finance their retirement in the Caribbean: reissues, reinterpretations and other "improved" remakes follow one another and the movement is accelerating.

No big update on this new droid seen in Episode III and aside from the few aesthetic evolutions of rigor we find the metapieces that allow to give it its rounded shape and the few guns that bring it a touch of playability. It will be difficult to do better on this scale anyway and the inevitable future reissues should be of the same barrel.

Once again, LEGO is taking a few liberties by putting a pilot in this standalone droid. We will not complain, this is the opportunity to get an additional Battle Droid that must be extended here in the cockpit ...

No unnecessary finishing touches under the droid, but the missile guns are very well integrated. Just push on an element to trigger the fire of two missiles at the same time. When deployed, the somewhat coarse landing gears touted in the official product description only loosely tilt the ship, which rests on its front guns.

LEGO still does not deign to provide a discreet or even transparent support to allow the object (flying) to be properly presented in a diorama or on a shelf. However, this is not a simple collector's reflection, I think that even the most playful fans would find their account there.

Be careful with the stickers to stick on the rounded parts, the youngest and those who are not very familiar with the exercise of the installation of these stickers will have to show patience and thoroughness not to disfigure the machine.

No balanced balance of power here, this box is only half of what it reproduces. You will have to go back to the cash register and afford the set 75234 AT-AP Walker (74.99 €) to be able to finally launch a credible confrontation on the beach of Kashyyyk. The bill will swell in passing, but when you love you (almost) not count.

I never thought I could write this one day, but the two Battle Droids provided in this box are actually the real stars of the product.

They are now a little more mature than the monochrome versions that LEGO has provided us by wagon so far in different boxes. The pad printing of the robot's head is very successful and the olive green torso gives a very "Kashyyyk" semblance of camouflage to these figurines.

For the rest, we will retain the discreet update of the pad printing of the face of Chief Tarfful with a look now more aggressive than on the version of the set 75043 AT-AP released in 2014. As usual with wookies, the minifig version doesn't really pay tribute to the size of these creatures, but we'll do with it.

The wookie blaster is still embodied by the 1989 musket, and while the accessory vaguely does the job, it's about time LEGO thought about a more accomplished version of this weapon.

Yoda is identical to the version seen in the sets 75017 Duel on Geonosis (2013) 75142 Homing Spider Droid (2016) et 75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter (2017). Still no patterns on the legs, a few folds in the minds of those on the chest would have been good. Shame about the bubbles in the lightsaber's blade. In 2019, it's a mess for a manufacturer of plastic toys, whatever the technical excuse that explains the presence of these bubbles.

In short, a box that will probably not fit in the Hall of Fame of the best sets in the LEGO Star Wars range, but which will allow those who still stood away from products in this range in 2014 to catch up.
This correct set but without real panache, will end like many others on sale one day or another. Be patient and you will save a few tens of euros on arrival. Amazon already offers it at a lower price than the LEGO Shop:
