chess what
If you are a fan of original and truly exceptional MOCs, you are probably already familiar with the two chess games created by icgateway aka Brandon Griffith. He is preparing to unveil his third chessboard on June 18 and 19 at LEGOLAND Park in California on the occasion of Star Wars Days.
As a teaser for the theme of this MOC, he offers us this photo and some clues in his flickr gallery that I let you go and discover .... It seems that Jabba is in the game ....
chess anewhope
Going back to the two previous MOCs, the first one dates from 2009 and was designed with reference to the film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The level of detail is impressive and each minifigure used is cleverly staged.
Not to mention the chessboard itself whose design is aesthetically flawless.
The flickr gallery of this chess game to contemplate from all angles can be found at this address.
chess empire
The second chessboard dates from 2010 and was built in reference to the film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
On this MOC the level of detail is even more important with a chessboard reproducing perfectly the rebel base on Hoth.
The chess pieces are matched with rebel troops, AT-ATs, Tauntauns and many other characters to discover in the flickr gallery gathering photos from all angles of this MOC.

LEGO Star Wars X-Wing - sok117

No, I'm not going to do like the LEGO blogs which all offered you the same thing today, namely the "new" MOC photos of Brandon Griffith aka icgetaway I was telling you about over a year ago in this article.

Obviously, the series of Star Wars chess games offered by this MOCeur is sublime in every way, but I told myself that I was not going to add a layer and bring out the same thing as all my neighbors. His flickr gallery can be found here if you want to jog your memory and enjoy some close-ups.

Instead, I offer you this X-Wing proposed by sok117. It's less repetitive, although you will surely see it elsewhere in the next few hours as well, but it allows me to offer you something fresh.

This X-Wing won't appeal to everyone, guaranteed. Moreover, the X-Wing is one of the rare vessels from the Star Wars universe around which an almost systematic discussion takes place between the fundamentalists of design and proportions and all those who sometimes prefer a little fantasy. to change the usual MOCs. Personally, I am always pleasantly surprised when a MOCeur attempts an original approach to the X-Wing, even if it is often at the expense of realism (I will not launch this debate between LEGO and realism, no I will not. ...) and the work of sok117 deserves your full attention.

So let's forget, the "too short","too long","too thick","not wide enough", to savor this MOC by telling himself that for each MOCeur who tries to reproduce the X-Wing and who publishes the photos of the result, there are many others who can improve theirs ...

The sok117 flickr gallery is here.

new chess sleep
As advertised in this news, icgateway finally unveiled its third Star Wars-themed chessboard at Star Wars Days which took place at LEGOLAND Park in California on June 18-19, 2011.

Logically, this new chessboard is therefore based on theEpisode VI: Return of the Jedi, with a base on the theme of the forest of Endor and magnificent pieces with on one side the Ewoks and the rebel troops, and on the other the imperial troops accompanied by Jabba.
