During the panel dedicated to the presentation of the new animated series Star Wars Rebels, Dave Filoni presented the ship that will become one of the key elements of this mini-saga which must bridge the gap between Episode III and Episode IV . Responding to the name of "The Ghost", this ship is for Dave Filoni the counterpart of the Millennium Falcon: A central device of the plot that will be developed, a sort of "refuge" for all those who flee the troops of the Empire and come together to fight.
In addition to the two visuals presented during the panel and which you can discover in the gallery this article, another image has been uploaded to a hidden page of the site StarWars.com. To access it, you must use the link printed on the badges distributed at the exit of the panel (Photo above, with one of the t-shirts distributed / thrown to the fans by Dave Filoni and which I was able to catch on the fly ...). We then discover a representation of the plans of this new ship that Filoni himself defines as a cross between a B-17 and a Millennium Falcon.
Personally, I'm already a fan of the lines of this ship, less organic than those of certain machines seen in particular in The Clone Wars and closer to those of the arsenal of the Original Trilogy, and I dare to hope that LEGO will offer it to us quickly. in plastic version.
More generally, what I saw and heard on this new animated series really excites me: Dave Filoni really insisted on the influence of the universe of Ralph McQuarrie and this futuristic side which has now become almost vintage brings me back immediately. to my memories of Episode IV, the X-Wing, the B-Wing or obviously the Millennium Falcon.
However, it remains to discover the visual treatment of the physical characteristics of the characters, their appearance will play an important role in the adhesion or not of the youngest to this new animated series. In this regard, Dave Filoni explicitly mentioned the influence of the work of Japanese designer Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, etc ...). The alchemy between two rather distant universes could prove surprising. To be continued...
