LEGO and Universal Studios commit to the next five years

We knew that discussions were underway but the agreement is now officially signed : LEGO and Universal Pictures have just concluded a 5-year contract which will allow the American studio to develop, produce and distribute future films based on the LEGO license.

The two structures have already collaborated recently on the animated feature film LEGO Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit, a special episode with TV broadcast and DVD release, as well as the series in 13 mini-episodes LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar and fully intend to continue this collaboration through future projects.

This new partnership should make it possible to soon find in theaters new ambitious feature films around the LEGO universe, to relaunch the machine after the worldwide success of the first The LEGO Movie, followed by three other films with uneven performance at the Box Office: The LEGO Batman Movie, The LEGO Ninjago Movie et The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

Warner Bros. is no longer in the loop, so we will be treated to new movies based on the LEGO universe, but perhaps we should not expect a sequel to the films already released.
