Today we are very quickly interested in the content of the LEGO DREAMZzz set 71459 Stable of the Dream Creatures, a box of 681 pieces currently in pre-order on the official online store at the public price of 84.99 € and which will be available from August 1st. The statement leaves no room for doubt, this product derived from the animated series, the first 10 episodes of which are online at YoutubeNetflix or even Prime Video is very expensive.

The main construction of the set is very quickly assembled, there is no complex technique or functionality but the small house whose interior spaces are easily accessible seems to me rather correct. It's colorful, there is enough furniture and accessories so that the whole thing doesn't seem too empty and the presence of stickers is relatively limited.

The title of the product evokes "The stable of dream creatures", we are still looking for the stable and the reason for the plural used for the word creature. On the other hand, there is a mill whose propeller is rotated manually by manipulating the wheel placed at the top of the house.

We also build a guardian deer of the forest and this is where we measure the gap between what appears on the screen in the animated series and the adaptation of this content in LEGO bricks. The plastic creature is immediately much less majestic and you have to be content with a deer with very stiff legs but with nicely stamped eyes.

The animal's head is articulated, the Ball joint clearly visible gray confirms this in case you didn't understand. For those who have not watched the episodes of the series already available, I remind you that the content seen on the screen is not based on bricks and there are only the minifigs which remind us that we are in the LEGO universe. The transition to physical content is therefore necessarily a little disappointing, both in terms of the volume of the constructions and their finish.

Like many sets in the range, this box offers a construction variant with a bifurcation during assembly in the pages of the instruction booklet. The variant present here is not of the level of that of the set 71456 Mrs. Castillo's Turtle Van with his food truck which becomes a turtle, it is simply a question of giving a pair of wings to the deer by recovering the blue branches of the tree planted in the garden. Not much to shout about the 2-in-1 concept this time around, but it's still a bit more building fun for younger kids.

The endowment of figurines here is rather substantial with Izzie, Zoey, Cooper, Mrs. Castillo, Z-Blob and two Champirêves. These are the stars of the set with a rather interesting look and potential use in other contexts. The pad prints are generally very successful with once again all the technical know-how of LEGO at the service of the handful of characters.

This box will probably not mark the history of the range, it lacks content for the price requested and the LEGO DREAMZzz universe only based on the confrontation between the heroes and the king of nightmares accompanied by his minions, so it lacks also here something to have fun by reproducing the events seen on the screen.

In the end, this set is only half of what it should have been and the marketing obviously went through this: it will be necessary to go back to the checkout so that the youngest can do something other than brush the stiff-legged deer, to grind grain, take tea or rake the garden.

This derivative product will inevitably end up being sold with a big reduction in its public price, the two blue mushrooms and the few interesting pieces delivered in this box will then become more accessible. In the meantime, no need to spend 85 € on this box, it's far too expensive for the content offered, as cute as it is.

Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO DREAMZzz set 71456 Mrs. Castillo's Turtle Van, a box of 434 pieces currently on pre-order on the official online store at the retail price of €47.99 and which will be available from August 1, 2023.

For those who have not followed, the LEGO DREAMZzz universe is the new "in-house" license at LEGO and the manufacturer is once again putting the means to try to demonstrate that it is able to create a complete ecosystem of products without having to s rely on external licenses. Of all the attempts at LEGO, only the Ninjago and Monkie Kid ranges are still in the catalog, the other most recent home universes have all been more or less quickly dropped by the wayside for a long time after a few waves of boxes.

The LEGO DREAMZzz license therefore comes at the right time to try to generate a new long-term commercial dynamic and it is based in passing on an animated series broadcast on YoutubeNetflix or even Prime Video with a dozen episodes already online and a new season to come. LEGO has obviously planned a substantial lifespan for this new universe as well as many products derived from products already themselves derived with, for example, a slew of activity books to be published accompanied or not by various and varied figurines. Everything is obviously aimed at the youngest, so it is important to keep the target audience in mind to form an objective opinion on these products.

In this box, we assemble Madame Castillo's food truck parked a few streets from the home of the two young heroes of this universe, Mateo and Izzy. The version of the vehicle seen on the screen not being based on bricks, that of the set is therefore necessarily a largely simplified interpretation of the thing. We get an 8-stud wide vehicle vaguely inspired by a VW van with a rather basic interior, a few stickers and a removable roof.

The LEGO version looks just like the show, but it's yet to be seen how younger kids will enjoy these simplified, loosely inspired by-products of a series that features minifigs in a classic brick-free cartoon setting.

The van can be converted into a flying turtle or a submarine and therefore LEGO offers two variants of the starting construction. These transformations are rather well documented in the instruction booklet and it is not necessary to disassemble everything to transform the vehicle into Señor Tortuga. Changing from one version to the other only requires a few minor modifications and the process will therefore not discourage the youngest. There are still a few unused parts after each modification, but the remainder is limited.

We can therefore consider that the 3-in-1 aspect of the product is really exploitable here, this is not always the case in the products presented by LEGO as offering the possibility of assembling several variants of the product offered with very often a large pile of untapped coins. The sheet of stickers to stick on the van is substantial but all these stickers are not used, there remains a small handful of stickers (bottom right on the scan above) which will allow you to personalize the vehicle as you see fit. All the patterns visible on the different elements of the set and which are not on the sheet of stickers are therefore stamped.

As for the minifigs delivered in this box, it's a pad printing party. LEGO puts all its know-how at the service of this new range and this is in turn good news for all the other ranges of the manufacturer: the new parts or the variations of certain elements in colors not offered until now produced for the he LEGO DREAMZzz universe will sooner or later end up being exploited elsewhere.

Madame Castillo, for example, is converted here into a unique piece integrating the backpack worn by the character associated with two yellow arms from the Super Mario range. We will once again regret the gap between the official visuals and the "real" minifig, some details of the character's dress are a bit overlooked.

The young Mateo is also delivered in this box, he is the male hero of the series and the minifig is rather very faithful to the version seen on the screen except perhaps for the giant pencil which is here a simple stick with a mine at the end. In the animated series, minifigs break free from the limitations of plastic versions with mobility impossible to replicate in real life and the ability to grasp accessories much larger than real plastic hands allow. The Zoey minifigure is also highly detailed with over-the-top graphics on the chest and legs. We can't blame LEGO for saving money on the plastic versions of the characters seen on screen, it's visually successful.

71456 lego dreamzzz mrs castillo turtle van 9

The two mini-creatures, Z-Blob and Grimspawn share the same main mold which allows them to receive an accessory on the head and possibly wear an element under the arm. These figurines are not completely stable, but they can be plugged into a stud and the heads of each of these two creatures can be removed. The big one missing from this box is Tortuga, Madame Castillo's mini pet turtle in "real" life, which only appears in the set as a simple sticker.

The set is at least as confusing as the series, with a profusion of elements that may seem irrelevant if we ignore the pitch of this new license. Watching the animated series will not necessarily help, the passage into the world of dreams reveals a totally crazy universe which inevitably opens the way to equally crazy derivative products.

This box seems to me to be one of the most "readable" of the range, the transformation of the van into a turtle is a good idea well exploited. The public price of the product, 48 €, however, seems to me a bit high for what it has to offer knowing that the LEGO DREAMZzz license has no liabilities and that it is a simple launch. There is also no guarantee that the concept will go beyond this first wave and a possible other batch of sets already ready but marketed at the end of the year, sales will serve as a judge of the peace.

If the LEGO DREAMZzz universe is an industrial accident, there will be massive destocking and those who want certain pieces present in these boxes will find what they are looking for and if the range is a hit with the youngest, the most interesting elements will then be available in several sets. Everyone will win on arrival. In any case, LEGO will have invested time and money in new elements and new colors that will sooner or later have to be recycled elsewhere and that's always taken.

lego dreamzzz new franchise 2023

You always have to strike while the iron is hot and LEGO intends to capitalize on the launch of the LEGO DREAMZzz animated series to garner pre-orders on the many derivative products whose effective availability is not expected until August 1st.

The first 10 episodes of the series are available on Youtube, Netflix et Prime Video and 10 of the 11 planned sets are now available for pre-order on the official online store:

The 11th derivative product, the set 40657 Dream Village (434 pieces - 29.99 €) is also referenced with an availability announced for August 1, 2023 but it is not possible to pre-order it for the moment.

Please note that the 10 sets listed above are also available pre-order at Amazon.

Forward for the announcement of a brand new "in-house" LEGO range with the presentation of the DREAMZzz universe. This range will be based on an animated series whose first episodes will be broadcast on May 15, 2023 and whose pitch is childishly simple: Izzie, Mateo, Cooper, Logan and Zoey, join a secret agency that teaches them how to use their imagination to travel through the world of dreams and face the super villain of the story, the Nightmare King or King of Nightmares. Convenient for developing a varied range of derivative products that can afford to gleanfully dip into many successful universes at LEGO.

As LEGO only sells high-end toys of exceptional educational and cultural interest, the manufacturer specifies that this range is the result of a study of 23000 children around the world which concludes that 69% of them are affected. by stress or loneliness and that 68% of them say that dreams are important and allow them to be more creative. Experts confirm in passing that dreams can play a key role on the emotional level and develop the imagination of the youngest. We are therefore close to the therapeutic range.

The first 10 episodes of the series will be available on Youtube from May 15, the derivative products will arrive on the shelves in August 2023. In the meantime, LEGO will have deployed an entire communication campaign including a 4D attraction in the LEGOLAND parks, a dedicated comic which will be featured in the pages of LEGO Life magazine as well as numerous online activities.

The first batch of sets which will be available from this summer is made up of around ten boxes whose public prices cover all the price brackets. New parts, new minifigs available in classic version or in "dream traveler" version, more or less subtle references to existing or retired LEGO universes, everything is there. These sets are referenced on the official online store (links below):

Note: all the other news for June 2023 are online at Pricevortex, some of them are already referenced by Amazon.
