The pandemic will have definitely wreaked havoc in 2020 and it will be necessary to sort among 25 LEGO Ideas projects that have reached the required threshold of 10.000 supports during the third phase of the 2020 review, the results of which will be communicated next summer. For the year 2020, there are therefore 86 projects in all that will have gathered the 10.000 supporters required to have the right to be evaluated by LEGO and possibly end up on the shelves of the LEGO Stores.
LEGO does not even bother to do a post-validation pre-sorting and we find in this selection a Colosseum which will obviously go by the wayside due to the marketing of the set 10276 Colosseum, a police station Structure which will also be automatically rejected following the sale of the set 10278 Police Station, a new version of the house of hobbits already seen in 2013 in the set 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, an MRI machine, a karate-themed board game that no one has ever understood, a reproduction of the Milwaukee Art Museum, a dumpster, a Boeing 737 and the inevitable license-backed projects like Wallace & Gromit, the video game Among Us, Avatar, the other Avatar, The Addams Family, Jumanji, Red Dwarf, Gravity Falls and Spirited Away. The detailed list of the projects concerned is available on the blog of the LEGO Ideas platform.
While waiting to know the fate of these 25 qualified projects, we will be entitled within a few weeks to the result of the second phase of the 2020 review which brings together 35 projects. We will also know more about the project Sonic Mania - Green Hill Zone which was still under review last September following the announcement of the validated projects among the 26 in the first phase of the 2020 review.
