LEGO Ideas: Saturn V launcher takes off

A little teasing that never hurts to ensure a minimum of excitement and excitement around a product, LEGO begins to prepare us for the take off of the Saturn V rocket issue of a LEGO Ideas project validated in June 2016.

This set (ref. LEGO Ideas 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V), will be marketed next June, one year after its validation. LEGO had already announced last December that this project is the most complex validated to date and that the two designers in charge of adapting the thing to make it marketable still had their work cut out for them.

If the mind of the initial project is respected, we should be able to separate the different launcher modules (see below). This project also included two minifigs of astronauts, we will see what will be left in the LEGO set.

Twelve projects were in the running for this new phase of the LEGO Ideas review, which has just ended with the announcement of the one that will become an official set.

If the most improbable projects are logically bypassed, it is therefore the project Women of NASA which is now moving into the adaptation and production phase for marketing in early 2018. There is work to be done.

Project Voltron - Defender of the Universe remains under review. More information in a few months when the results of the next review phase are announced.

Women of NASA will therefore be the 19th set in the LEGO Ideas / Cuusoo range. Five sets were released under the Cuusoo label between 2010 and 2014:

They have since been joined by thirteen new color references from the LEGO Ideas range:

lego ideas new review phase 2017 projects

Things are busy for this new phase of the LEGO Ideas review which begins today with no less than 12 projects in the running. These 12 creations have therefore gathered the 10.000 supports necessary for the passage to the next stage between September 2016 and early January 2017.

We find everything in this selection, but we especially do not find many projects that seem to me likely to be marketed one day.

Exit the stuff based on licenses already used by LEGO * (Star Wars, Marvel). The Boat Repair Shop will also probably go by the wayside: in 2017 we will already be entitled to the set 21309 Old Fishing Store from the same barrel (and the same creator). Regarding the LEGO Store, in my opinion, LEGO does not really need a LEGO Ideas project to decline its own brand.

I think the Vintage Tram, the Golf and the Land Rover have their chances. Red Dwarf ? Why not, after all TV shows are popular at LEGO (21302 The Big Bang Theory21304 Doctor Who).

Feel free to post your predictions in the comments.

Results in a few months.

Below is the list of the 12 projects in question:

* In the LEGO Ideas regulations: "...We welcome projects based on current licenses like Star Wars, Superheroes, Disney, etc., However, these active licenses are likely to have similar concepts already in the pipeline. Please keep in mind that a project based on an existing LEGO license has a smaller chance of passing the LEGO Review than other projects ..."

lego ideas current projects timeline 2017

Here is some information on the timing of the marketing of the last three LEGO Ideas projects that have been approved and therefore become official sets:

The and 21308 Adventure Time will finally be marketed from December 26, 2016 instead of January 1, 2017.

The and 21309 Apollo 11 Saturn V based on this project will be marketed in mid-2017. The two designers in charge of adapting the initial project to LEGO style worked well but the product is not fully finalized. This project is, according to LEGO, the most complex validated to date.

The and 21310 Old Fishing Store based on this project, still being adapted, will go on sale in the fall of 2017.

LEGO Ideas 21308 Adventure Time

Another update to the server that hosts the official visuals of LEGO products that allows us this time to take a closer look at the next set in the LEGO Ideas range bearing the reference 21308 and based on the Adventure Time animated series.

Inspired by the Adventure Time project by Ludovic Piraud aka aBetterMonkey, this box of 495 pieces which will allow to assemble Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Marceline, BMO, Gunter et Ice King.

This set will join from January 1st the few other products based on this license released around the video game LEGO Dimensions: the Fun pack 71285 Marceline the Vampire Queen, the Level Pack 71245 Adventure Time and Team Pack 71246 Jake the Dog & Lumpy Space Princess.

LEGO Ideas 21308 Adventure Time set US retail price: $ 49.99.

The contents of this set don't really interest me, not being an absolute fan of the animated series, but I readily admit that the box is magnificent ...
