Another update to the server that hosts the official visuals of LEGO products that allows us this time to take a closer look at the next set in the LEGO Ideas range bearing the reference 21308 and based on the Adventure Time animated series.
Inspired by the Adventure Time project by Ludovic Piraud aka aBetterMonkey, this box of 495 pieces which will allow to assemble Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Marceline, BMO, Gunter et Ice King.
This set will join from January 1st the few other products based on this license released around the video game LEGO Dimensions: the Fun pack 71285 Marceline the Vampire Queen, the Level Pack 71245 Adventure Time and Team Pack 71246 Jake the Dog & Lumpy Space Princess.
LEGO Ideas 21308 Adventure Time set US retail price: $ 49.99.
The contents of this set don't really interest me, not being an absolute fan of the animated series, but I readily admit that the box is magnificent ...
Here's the basics of what you need to know about the highly anticipated set LEGO Ideas 21306 The Beatles: Yellow Submarine. For the rest there is the official LEGO Ideas blog.
Inspired of the kevinszeto project which had reached 10.000 supporters at the end of 2015 and successfully passed the review phase of June 2016, this set of 553 pieces will be available on November 1st on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores.
Identical public price for Germany and France: € 59.90.
In the box, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul Mc Cartney, George Harrison and ... Jeremy Hillary Bob. The characters are represented here as they appear in the animated film Yellow Submarine released in 1968.
My youngest son thinks this is a set from The LEGO Movie range. I didn't want to contradict him ...
Below, the presentation video uploaded by LEGO:
LEGO has just announced the next set of the LEGO Ideas range: Of the nine projects competing in the first phase of review 2016, only the project Old Fishing Store have been selected. Enough to furnish the surroundings of the lake for lovers of dioramas based on Modulars.
Everything else goes by the wayside, those who already saw Johnny Five fooling around with Wall-E on the dresser in the living room are at their expense. For the gingerbread house, you will settle for from set 40139 offered last year by LEGO.
Twelve projects are in the running for the next review phase:
How naive I am ... At the official announcement of the LEGO Ideas set 21307 Caterham Seven 620R, the press release indicated retail prices set at $ 79.99 / € 79.99.
This was without taking into account the usual gap between the prices charged by LEGO in Germany where the set is available at the advertised price of 79.99 € and in France where the set is now available and sold for € 84.99...
A bit pricey for my taste, but die-hard fans of the lineup and LEGO-style vehicles will probably be right.
Tip of the day: Take advantage of the code FR10 which allows you to obtain a reduction of 10 € from 40 € of purchase before October 4 if you have not already used it. Otherwise, VIP points will be doubled from October 14 to 31. Afterwards, it's you who see ...
For fans of cars, LEGO and LEGO cars, the LEGO Ideas 21307 Caterham Seven 620R set is coming to the shelves at LEGO Stores and Lego shop next October 1st.
And this LEGO Ideas set has a few arguments to make to attract fans: It is above all a set from the Ideas range, a very heterogeneous range which has for common thread only the origin of the projects marketed, and the simple the presence of the logo of this range on the box will suffice to motivate all those who collect these sets.
It is also a vehicle, and sports moreover: an engine 2.0 Ford Duratec's 310 horsepower, 0 to 100 km / h in 2.79s, a maximum speed of 250 km / h, a weight / power ratio of 1.6kg / hp and a public price of € 58. And the cars reproduced in LEGO, it sells itself or almost. I was able to assemble this model and I therefore give you in bulk some personal thoughts.
On the construction side, almost nothing to say: no stickers, a solid frame, some great ideas from the designer who knew how to divert parts to refine the level of detail of the whole (Pistols, whip, lightsaber handles , lipstick ...) and many pad-printed parts of the Caterham brand logo. The engine in the LEGO version is a fairly faithful reproduction of the real one of which it takes the main elements.
Some regrets: The yellow pad-printed strip of the brand name on black parts does not have the same color as the yellow parts which constitute the main body of the vehicle. The introductory text of the instruction booklet is in English. No localization for other markets.
The front fenders are a little fragile for my taste, although the designer who took over the initial LEGO Ideas project probably did his best to find the best stiffness / design compromise. As it is more of a model for the exhibition than a toy, we will be satisfied with it. However, no shock absorbers visible at the front as on the real one. The front axle is also a bit massive for my taste on the LEGO version but it is probably once again the price to pay to obtain a minimum of rigidity.
On the functionality side, it's minimum service: no management, no things that open and close. It will be necessary to be satisfied with the few removable parts provided: The engine cover and the trunk. The nose of the vehicle can also be removed without destroying everything, but it is of no particular interest.
In my opinion, some accessories are missing, such as the windshield, and why not the side covers, which could have been removable to switch to a "minimalist" version.
It is also a pity that LEGO has not made the effort to offer a new model of tire with profile semi slick identical to that used by Caterham.
We can also discuss the choice of vehicle color in the LEGO version: Caterham offers six basic colors (yellow, orange, red, black, green blue) and I would have preferred a blue with orange stripes. But it's a question of taste.
Finally, and I know it's a waste of time but I stress it anyway, it lacks macaroni chrome at the exhaust.
You may think that I quibble more than usual, but at 79.99 € the model to the glory of a mythical brand, I think it's fair game. If you are planning on buying the real Caterham Seven 620R, then manage to get the LEGO set as a gift from the salesperson.
Otherwise, please note that I am offering the set I received from LEGO via a raffle among the comments posted below (Deadline for participation: September 30, 2016 at 23:59 p.m.). The box is obviously open, but the winner will save 79.99 € 84.99 €. It's always taken.
