LEGO VIP program: change of look while waiting for something better ...

Regulars at the official LEGO online store know that every month two new sets see the VIP points awarded to them doubled. This month it's The LEGO Movie 2 sets 70838 Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi So-Not-Evil Space Palace (119.99 €) and 70839 The Rexcelsior! (169.99 €) which benefit from the generosity of the manufacturer, it's up to you to see if these sets deserve to join your collections even with a doubled credit to spend on a next purchase.

On the occasion of the launch of the promo of the month, we also discover the new "look" of the VIP program with icons with modernized design. That's all we have on hand for now, waiting for the promised changes a few weeks ago which should soon be announced ...

lego 2019 vip program changes

If you are LEGO VIP program member, you have received an email announcing ... changes based on feedback collected from customers.

LEGO remains for the moment very evasive on the evolution of its loyalty program, promises us that improvements are planned and that they will be effective within two months. As it exists today, the VIP program has become obsolete anyway with its modest 5% discount on a future purchase. Most stores or brands that have a loyalty program do better than that.

Without further clarification, LEGO therefore announces the upcoming launch of a new online platform "... which will introduce new ways to accumulate and deduct your points ..."

LEGO also indicates that the VIP points will become a currency of exchange which will allow, as is the case today, to continue to obtain reductions on future purchases but also "... use your points via the new rewards platform, accessible via the web ..."

We do not know anything about these future rewards, let's hope that they are products (exclusive or not) exchangeable against a certain number of points and not simple virtual contents without great interest.

The only change confirmed to date concerns the lifespan of your points which until now expired in any case on December 31st two years after being obtained: "... Note that all your points will now be valid for 18 months and this period of validity will be reset each time you accumulate or deduct points..."

Wait and see, as the other would say ...

lego vip double points shop march 2019

Here we go again for a week of doubled VIP points on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores. The offer is valid on the whole catalog, but you already know that only a few exclusive products or those that are difficult to find elsewhere really become more interesting thanks to this small discount.

Those who missed the offer of the collector's key ring offered with the LEGO Creator set 10265 Ford Mustang can console themselves by taking advantage of this new operation to pay a little less for the set.

It's a shame, this offer falls just before the release of the novelties scheduled for April 1 ...

DIRECT ACCESS TO THE OFFER ON THE LEGO SHOP >>

Umpteenth reminder for those who do not know the VIP program accessible for free at LEGO (Register at this address): For each order placed, you accumulate points (1 € spent = 1 point).

100 points accumulated entitle you to a reduction of 5 € to be used on a future purchase. Until March 31, 2019, you will accumulate double points (1 € spent = 2 points) and you will therefore obtain 200 VIP points for 100 € of purchase, i.e. a 10 € discount to be used on a next order.

LEGO Creator Expert 10265 Ford Mustang: Keychain Free for VIP Program Members

It's confirmed, the members of the LEGO VIP program who will acquire the set LEGO Creator Expert 10265 Ford Mustang (€ 139.99) from March 1, a nice double-sided keyring will be offered with the LEGO logo on one side and the emblematic Mustang horse on the other.

The offer will last at best ten days (while stocks last) and you must not forget to identify yourself on your VIP account (or register if you haven't yet) before validating the order so that this small gift is automatically added to the basket.

I'm not sure fans really need the extra motivation to afford this magnificent LEGO-style version of the Ford Mustang, but any attention to thanking us for paying for our boxes at full price is obviously worth taking. .

LEGO Star Wars 5005747 VIP Frame

We will briefly talk about the last gift offered to holders of the VIP Black Card: The small set 5005747 VIP Frame that I received a few days ago.

No question of putting a layer on the mediocrity of the whole of this operation and on the barely concealed snub that LEGO makes us by offering to frame our Black Card for posterity.

Nothing exciting here, the display is a vague "tribute" to the hollow sets of the range Ultimate Collector Series and the minifigure is nothing very original with its yellow hands, its neutral head and its torso pad printed only on the front face. LEGO didn't even bother to reproduce the VIP card on the Tile held by the minifig.

For those who may be considering purchasing this set on eBay or Bricklink, a few details are in order, so as not to be fooled.

LEGO Star Wars 5005747 VIP Frame

The bag is reclosable, it is not sealed. It is not a sachet like those used for "classic" polybags, it is a simple transparent packaging such as can be bought in almost all stores specializing in office supplies.

The only exclusive piece of the bag is the torso of the minifigure on which the Millennium Falcon is pad printed as seen on the Black VIP card itself. This pad printing is of medium quality and the pattern is loosely centered. Everything else (41 pieces) is just generic LEGO pieces.

If the price of the set remains around 100 € and more on the secondary market, we will certainly see the appearance in the coming months of mini-prints tampographed by third parties sold at retail as is already the case for some exclusive minifigs (and much more complex to reproduce) given out at San Diego Comic Con.

LEGO Star Wars 5005747 VIP Frame

If you want to be fairly certain that you are getting an original product, at least demand the instruction booklet and especially the generic black VIP card (without barcode and with a LEGO Star Wars logo on the back) that comes in the polybag.

Don't pay $ 50 or more for a minifigure sold on its own, you will be fooled. Pad printing a torso with a single color and in this quality costs a few cents per unit for a series of a few hundred copies ...
