LEGO® Star Wars ™: Happy Father's Day! (2013)

It's anecdotal, but as I like to bitch and you flooded my mailbox with many messages to alert me to this "new video" LEGO Star Wars specially dedicated to Father's Day, I will not hesitate: LEGO is recycling by releasing a video already used in 2012 for the same occasion.

The proof, I put you below the video 2013 followed by the video broadcast in 2012, and the observation is immediate: they are identical.

Nothing exciting, but with the slew of brick filmmakers talented people who struggle to find the much desired visibility on YouTube, LEGO could have made an effort by asking some of them to produce something original for the occasion.

Most of them would have done it for free, just to have a chance to see their work showcased by LEGO ...

The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug

Release today of the trailer for the second part of the The Hobbit trilogy with the debut of two highly anticipated protagonists: Legolas and Smaug.

As usual, it's promising, with beautiful scenery, action, an epic soundtrack and some LEGO sets to treat yourself to as a souvenir.

Released in theaters December 13, 2013.

The variant covers (Different covers for the same magazine or comic number) are not new, in the USA the technique is commonly used and it is more and more used in France with certain magazines such as Studio Ciné Live or comics published by Panini.

In September 2013, LEGO and Marvel Comics will celebrate the launch of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game with great support from variant covers for select titles with bulk: All-New X-Men # 17, Avengers # 21, Captain America # 12, Daredevil # 31, Fantastic Four # 13, Guardians Of The Galaxy # 7, Marvel Universe # 1, Mighty Avengers # 1 , etc., etc...

While the initiative is laudable and will appeal to American fans, the first thought that came to my mind is that LEGO does a lot of things with the Marvel license, but not necessarily plastic ...

Since the signing of the agreement between the giant of the toy and that of the comic, we must be satisfied with a few minifigs of Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine and a few others where the video game will integrate a good hundred characters and where fans of paper comics will also be able to feast on many characters drawn by great illustrators such as Leo Castellani, Christopher Jones and Adam DeKraker.

It is high time that LEGO decided to step up the pace of the release of Marvel minifigs by broadening its sources of inspiration ...

In short, rather than rambling on, I'll let you admire the three examples of variant covers with LEGO sauce among those that will be offered next September.

DECOOL Ninja Turtles 0053 Michelangelo

Quickly unboxing one of the copies of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brought back from Hong Kong and photos taken quickly with my iPhone: The verdict is final, it looks very similar from a distance, but the quality is not the appointment.

I bought a pack of six minifigs (The Four Turtles, Splinter and Shredder), each of them being packed in a "collector" box with mini comic included. It all cost me a whopping $ 6 in a market.

On the menu: Significant burrs on the plastics, very pronounced molding marks, rough printing with missing areas and overflows, too much play between the different parts of the body, etc ... there are many faults.

The stickers are pretty decent and apply easily. There is no need to compare this type of minifig with those produced by LEGO: This counterfeit is really inferior in quality to the official versions as soon as we look at the details. But if we do not quibble too much and retain the ridiculous price, the quality / price ratio is rather convincing.

Obviously, this is pure counterfeiting, the DECOOL brand does not hold the official license to produce this type of toy and these minifigs are not sold at Toys R Us ... I have no idea of the content of the ink used on these minifigs nor any guarantee on its non-toxicity.

I will take group photos later and upload them to my flickr gallery.

Important note: I do not encourage the purchase of counterfeit products, I am just sharing here for information of my discovery during a trip abroad. I remind you that the law punishes with a maximum penalty of 3 years imprisonment and a € 300 fine for any person who offers for sale or sells goods presented under an infringing trademark. The same penalties are applicable in the event of the purchase of counterfeits.

Custom LEGO Reverse Flash by Christo

Finally received today the package from South Africa containing the custom Reverse Flash minifigure ordered from Christo.

Nothing to say about the quality, it's great. The price a little less.

The impression is well made, as usual, with however history of quibbling a little a few burrs on the inside of the legs. Nothing serious, but the gentleman accustomed me to better in terms of finish.
