The Yoda Chronicles

Another mysterious visual posted on the official LEGO Star Wars blog with Yoda standing in the middle of a room full of caissons containing guys that little else knows about.

I'm not sure what all this teasing is going to lead us to, but these Yoda chronicles about which we are already waiting a book with exclusive minifig et a set in the second wave LEGO Star Wars 2013 had better be exceptional ...

LEGO Star Wars 75005 Rancor Pit (Photos by BrickieB)

This set that we have already talked about a lot (a little too much probably) presents a major interest which should in itself justify the purchase of this box: The possibility of connecting the Rancor's lair to that of Jabba in the set 9516 Jabba's Palace.

BrickieB, again, was able to get the set in Belgium 75005 Rancor Pit and lifts the veil on the supposed interconnection possibilities offered by LEGO in a mini-review on Eurobricks.

LEGO indicates on the back of the box that the two sets are intended to be grouped. The solution indicated by the manufacturer is to detach the side tower of Jabba's Palace and place it next to the two remaining elements assembled together.

It is a moderately satisfactory compromise but which brings a real playful added value to the whole. Only regret, you have to spend more than 200 € at LEGO to obtain this result. A little less by seeking elsewhere on the internet.

Fortunately, the minifigs are there to reassure me. They are superb and the Rancor is really imposing, evidenced by this photo of BrickieB on which he poses next to Jabba.

In any case, this set will saturate my shelves, even if I think that the interconnection with the set 9516 could have been a little more worked, by proposing for example an additional floor to be inserted under the tower of the palace.

On the playability side, it's different. The palace trap mechanism will take advantage of the presence of the Rancor Pit and will allow a few poor creatures to be thrown into it, including poor Oola ...

LEGO Star Wars 75003 A-Wing (Photo by BrickieB)

The first real photos of the contents of the set LEGO Star Wars 75003 A-Wing are available thanks to a member of Eurobricks, BrickieB, who was able to obtain this box and propose a mini-review in pictures.

As far as I'm concerned, although the whole is coherent and the ship is of good quality, this set is only valid by the presence of the minifig of the A-Wing pilot which will advantageously replace the more simplistic and moderately faithful interpretations released. in 2000 (7134 A-Wing Fighter) 2006 (6207 A-Wing Fighter) and 2009 (7754 Home One Calamari Star Cruiser) of this character.

The outfit is really detailed with a silkscreen that reproduces in great detail the straps and clothing of the valiant pilot and a panel of colors consistent with the film version of the Battle of Endor. The helmet is also a nice interpretation of the model from the film with its side cutouts to improve visibility.

Han Solo with a new torso with a few additional pockets and identical Ackbar to set version 7754 are there, and that's good.

Small precision, the set is stuffed with stickers.

I warn you, I don't want to hear anyone complain in a few weeks about the difficulty in obtaining certain sets removed from the LEGO offer and whose prices will obviously skyrocket on the secondary market.

LEGO has updated its page "Retiring Soon"(Soon to be retired, if you prefer) dedicated to the sets which will soon be withdrawn from its catalog and we find there in particular the UCS 10212 Imperial Shuttle set.
