The sign WLWYB, which already offers the very popular "periodic table of elements"in the LEGO version, is currently trying something new: the sale of brick-based letters with integrated LED lighting. The entire alphabet is available in this format and WLWYB sent me the letter W like Will ...
The product, 22 cm high and variable in width depending on the letter concerned, is made up of several rows of LEGO bricks in the middle of which are inserted cardboard sheets that diffuse and attempt to standardize the light generated by the LED strip that circulates the along the internal structure. The parts used are indeed official LEGO elements, they are new and they are not glued together.
Upon arrival, we get a decorative product powered via a USB connector that you can connect to a mains charger, a Powerbank or an available USB port on your configuration. One letter cannot be reassembled in another, the fault of the diffusers cut out specifically for each of the 26 models available for sale.
The idea is not bad, even if the execution may leave some unsatisfied: the back of each letter is not formed of flat but from a simple white cardboard retained in various places by a few pieces, the light emitted by the integrated LED strip is far from being as uniform in real life as on the presentation visuals and the sign forgot to integrate a switch that would have made it possible to leave the product plugged in without being permanently switched on.
Each letter is sold for $ 69.95 if you wish to receive it already assembled or $ 59.95 if you prefer to receive the various elements in bulk and assemble the object yourself. As you will have understood, writing an entire first name, NEW-YORK, or I LOVE IKEA will cost you a lot on arrival and you will then need to equip yourself with a USB hub with as many ports as letters to supply. For the price, the brand could also have thought of providing a few additional inserts in different colors, just to vary the moods.
No worries about delivery, the brand knows how to do it and the product arrives well protected in cardboard packaging.
If the object seems to you to be an acceptable lifestyle product to give to someone you know, you can limit the damage by taking advantage of a 10% discount on your order using the code WINNIE to enter in the basket just before confirming the order. The code is valid until July 6, 2021.
