The LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles range has therefore been officially announced and the first set 79104 The Shellraiser Street Chase (visual above) will be unveiled at the LEGO stand during New York Comic Con 2012. According to the official press release, the range will launch in January 2013 in the US and Great Britain and later this year for the rest of the world.
The list of sets that will be available in January 2013:
79100 Kraang Lab Escape
79101 Shredder's Dragon Bike
79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit
79103 Turtle Air Attack
79104 The Shellraiser Street Chase
79105 Baxter Robot Rampage
The LEGO lineup will be directly based on the 26-episode, 30-minute animated series airing on the Nickelodeon channel.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are invading New York Comic Con 2012 with official confirmation of a 2013 TMNT theme and two exclusive minifigs already announced: The Dark Turtle above will be offered via a raffle which will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the convention.
The other exclusive minifigure Krang Android will be available Saturday at the LEGO Store in Rockefeller Center. I'll try to go to the LEGO Store on Saturday, but I'm already predicting the rush to get this minifigure ...
Another set announced, this time in the LEGO Super Heroes Marvel range: 76005 Spider-Man: Daily Bugle Showdown (5 minifigs: Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Jonah Jameson, Nova, Beetle; 476 pieces and a US price of $ 49.99).
I'm not going to dwell on the content, it's really weak ... I prefer to stay positive and tell myself that these 5 minifigs are well worth the advertised price ...
I expected LEGO to compromise with the advertised version of the Tumbler, but this is a big disappointment for me. A stylish mini-Tumbler Hot Wheels, Bat barely correct and 3 minifigs which once again make the whole point of the set. Bof .... What more can we say except that LEGO could have made an effort on the realization of the Tumbler.
This set of LEGO Super Heroes 76001 The Bat vs Bane: Tumbler Chase of 368 pieces is advertised for $ 39.99 in the US.
The 3rd Dev Diary has been uploaded and it's pretty interesting. We see in particular that the developers of the game are equipped with real bricks from which they design the models used in the game. And it is Carl Greatrix (see his Linkedin profile), LEGO Model Designer at Travelers Tales / TT Games since 2008 and who has worked on almost every title released to date which explains that the goal was to stay as faithful as possible to the models of the Peter Jackson trilogy.
