It is a tradition at Toys R Us in the USA, October is the month devoted to LEGOs with the soberly titled operation Bricktober.
This year, TRU customers will be offered a copy of these LEGO Vintage Minifigure Collection with any purchase that qualifies for the offer. (Minimum amount and / or sets concerned not communicated) The operation is spread over the four weeks of October and the set offered will therefore change every week.
There are 4 volumes of this series devoted to vintage minifigs:
852331 LEGO Vintage Minifigure Collection - Volume 1 (released in 2008 - Yellow box)
852535 LEGO Vintage Minifigure Collection - Volume 2 (released 2009 - Blue box)
852753 LEGO Vintage Minifigure Collection - Volume 4 (released in 2009 - Black box)
And the set in green box which contains 2 minifigs (Cook, cowboy) from Volume 3 (852697 -2009) and 3 minifigs (Nurse, woman in green and white ninja) from Volume 5 (852769 - 2010)
If you are a fan of these series of minifigs, watch eBay or Bricklink in the coming weeks, you should be able to find what you are looking for at decent prices ...
Benjamin alias Brickplace Customs has just presented his latest MOC and we can say that it is a centerpiece. This giant chess game with Hoth, his rebels, his Snowtroopers, his AT-ATs, his Snowspeeders, his Tauntauns, etc ... impresses me ...
You are going to tell me: How do you go about playing chess with this MOC? Benjamin will contradict me if necessary, but I think the thing can be handled pretty well. The bases are well designed and only large pieces can pose visibility problems during a game depending on their position.
But the beauty of this MOC lies above all in its ability to be exposed to the eyes of all in a corner of the living room ... The 45cm x 45cm top is magnificent, the snow covering the sides of the rebel base housed in the lower floor is very well simulated. Because yes, there is a rebel base under the plateau ...
I let you admire the photos and I hope that Benjamin-Brickplace will come and give us a little more details on this magnificent achievement in the comments. Besides, I'll take this opportunity to ask him what Lando and Yoda are doing on this Hoth themed chess game, he probably has an explanation ...
You can also find his interview about custom minifigs at this address. Do not hesitate to also visit his flickr gallery.
Since nothing is happening at the moment, we furnish as best we can ...
Last night, you have probably received the email announcing the availability in preview of the set 10229 The winter cottage. We're not going to make a big deal out of it here, if you want it now because you can't wait for this thing anymore, it's 95.49 € (from September 24 to 30, 2012) and if you want it but finally it can wait, you will pay 95.49 € with double VIP points from October 1 to 14, 2012 ... In short, you know what I think of this VIP program and its nutty pseudo-exclusives.
For fans of LEGO Technic, a major challenge looms on the horizon: The "Yor design it, we make it"which starts in October 2012 will allow the winner to see his MOC marketed as a set from the Technic range in 2013.
No or few details for the moment on this competition, all we know is that it will be necessary to propose a personal creation of a vehicle of the type 4x4 Crawler and that the top 10 entries in the contest will be voted on by fans.
If you are interested in the challenge, go to the site dedicated to the Technic range and follow the LEGO Technic team blog.
For the rest, Brickset already references the sets Technic from 2013 (or in any case what the rumor announces for 2013).
This second half of 2012 was decidedly very poor in terms of preliminary images and interesting information on future ranges. For lack of anything better, here is a new poster proposed by desktop on Eurobricks, probably a teaser for the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game due out at the end of October.
We finally discover Saroumane (or Saruman) and this minifigure in its virtual version is excellent. Hopefully LEGO will deign to offer us the same in a plastic version ...
Another 3in1 LEGO Star Wars Super Pack (reference 66431) which is appearing at Auchan.fr at the rate of 39.90 €. A rather correct price for 12 minifigs and 300 pieces.
This novelty contains the following sets:
7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack (2011 - 4 minifigs - 68 pieces)
9488 Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid (2012 - 4 minifigs - 98 pieces)
9491 Geonosian Cannon (2012 - 4 minifigs - 132 pieces)
