LEGO Technic news for summer 2018: some information on the planned sets

While the novelties of the first half of 2018 are barely available on the LEGO Shop, we now know a little more about the LEGO Technic sets for next summer. In July, it's work (and it's without me).

The preliminary visuals of four boxes below are available:

  • 42079 Forklift Truck
  • 42080 Forest Harvester
  • 42081 Volvo Autonomous Loader
  • 42082 Rough Terrain Crane

We therefore find a yellow and dark blue forklift accompanied by a pallet and a container of dangerous products, a harvester with arm equipped with a circular saw for cutting wood in the forest with a green fairing, Lime and white, a big red crane with telescopic arm and some gray panels to lift and position to form a structure and more interesting, a Volvo autonomous loader piloted by a drone and equipped with an appendix with camera at the back: A scorpion yellow and black licensed to look like a concept under development.

According to the visuals available, only sets 42080 and 42082 will be delivered with a kit Power Functions (XL motor for set 42082 and Pneumatics System V2 bonus for set 42080).

No visual for set 42083 whose box is hidden.

On the price side, a French brand gives us a first idea of the approximate price range in which each of these boxes will be: € 75.29 for the set 42079 Forklift Truck, 198.99 € for the set 42080 Forest Harvester, 178.39 € for the set 42081 Volvo Autonomous and 357.79 € (!) for the set 42082 Rough Terrain Crane.

Note that the 42078 Mack Anthem set is not always not listed on the LEGO Shop but it is proposed pre-order from amazon :

new lego books

Some more information on the next DK editor's works with the above visuals of three of them.

On the left, the cover of the one entitled Great LEGO Sets: A Visual History (39.93 on amazon.fr), scheduled for next October and which will list the best LEGO sets released since 1955:

Packed with stunning photography and fascinating facts, Great LEGO® Sets: A Visual History explores the history of LEGO sets in magnificent detail. The guide offers an expansive overview of the most significant, popular, and interesting play sets, featured in chronological order from 1955 to the present day.

Great LEGO Sets: A Visual History features the most beloved sets in the LEGO Group's long history, including much-loved classic 1980s LEGO Space and LEGO Castle sets and the latest stunning licensed themed sets, such as LEGO® Star Wars®.

Created in full collaboration with the LEGO Group and with profiles and quotes from LEGO designers, this captivating new book also comes with an exclusive retro-style LEGO set for readers to build.

In the center LEGO Awesome Ideas (200 pages - September 2015 - 24.94 € on amazon.fr) which will therefore be a collection of instructions:

LEGO® Awesome Ideas is an all-new ideas book that unlocks the secrets of LEGO building and shows fans how to create a world with their imagination. Beautifully clear photography and informative text demonstrates how entire models are built up while also providing step-by-step visual breakdowns and offering alternative ways to build models.

Explore each chapter as it steadily creates a themed world and ultimately showcases a dynamic diorama of the complete build, showing readers that they too can build up an entire LEGO world from scratch - model by model, brick by brick.

With creative model ideas and visual tips and techniques, LEGO Awesome Ideas will inspire anyone, from beginners to accomplished builders.

On the right a "beautiful book" of which you already know the author even if his name means nothing to you at first glance: Vesa Lehtimäki is better known under the pseudonym of Avanaut and you must have come across his magnificent photos at least once featuring minifigs and machines from the Star Wars universe (see his flickr gallery).

LEGO Star Wars Through A Lens will therefore probably be a collection of the best photos of Avanaut, who also works regularly for LEGO: He notably produced the promotional visuals for the LEGO The Hobbit range (see these articles).

Finally, the book LEGO: I Want That Minifigure (18.95 on amazon.fr), entirely dedicated to LEGO minifigswill be accompanied by an exclusive minifigure, the description posted on amazon.com confirms this:

Have you ever wondered which LEGO® minifigure had the first double-sided head? Or which one was the first to have a printed torso or peg leg? Discover all the answers to these questions and more in DK's I Want That Minifigure!Meet more than 200 amazing LEGO minifigures and find out what makes each one special. With stunning images and informative annotations, this encyclopedia features the most unique minifigures in amazing detail - all accompanied by fascinating facts and trivia that bring them to life.

Perfect for LEGO fans and collectors of all ages, I Want That Minifigure! is the official guide to the rare and most desirable minifigures, and also comes with its own exclusive minifigure.

marvel antman

Little information circulates on the set Marvel 76039 expected for summer 2015, but we learn all the same that it should be a box representing the "final battle"from the film with inside Scott Lang/Ant-Man (played on screen by Paul Rudd), a giant winged ant, the villain of the film (it would not be Yellowjacket / Darren Cross) as well as oversized bricks, probably to place the supplied minifigs in a suitable context without having to resort to microfigs.

Update : The second minifigure in the set is that of Hank Pym.

UK Public Price: £ 19.99 (approx. 26 €)
