LEGO has released a 2021 novelty on its online store: this is the set 10290 Pickup Truck, a box of 1677 pieces that will allow you to assemble a vintage vehicle (33 cm long, 14 cm high and 14 cm wide) and some accessories.

Today we quickly make the rounds of one of the three novelties expected in the LEGO Monkie Kid range from July 1: the set 80026 Pigsy's Noodle Tank, a box of 662 pieces sold at the public price of 49.99 €.

Those who follow the evolution of the range will have understood what it is about here, for the others, an explanation is in order: Pigsy is the owner of a food truck already seen in the well-named set. 80009 Pigsy's Food Truck marketed in 2020. When he does not treat his group of friends, the cook pig takes part in the ongoing clashes and it is therefore his truck which is transformed here into a large bowl of noodles with the false air of a tank.

Pigsy here defends Mr Tang, the guy with his red scarf, who tries to escape Pan, the shop owner. Speedy Panda seen in the set 80011 Red Son's Inferno Truck in 2020, all under the eyes of Lee, the guy disguised as the mascot of the place. If you haven't understood anything, that's okay, the set won't really need the context linked to the animated series, which is still not broadcast in France, so that the youngest will find their place. account.

The main build is really decked out with weapons and accessories with machine launchers on all sides, a pair of chunky chopsticks that can fit in the robot's back or hand, and an open kitchen that is full of items. themes very popular with fans.

The sign placed in principle on the roof of Pigsy's truck here becomes a rotating cannon, the fridge hides a coin launcher, the harrow already present at the front of the food truck of set 80009 goes up and down when the vehicle starts moving. and both arms can be oriented as you see fit. Difficult to do better on such a compact product. The tank is strong enough to be handled without breaking everything, but you will have to be careful not to lose the kitchen utensils and food clipped everywhere.

Opposite, Pan pilots a delivery drone that can drop a crate on Pigsy and he is assisted by a lemonade-throwing panda robot equipped with two Stud Shooters. An entire program. Both builds are sketchy, they are there only to provide opposition to Pigsy and allow some fun without waiting for a birthday or the holiday season.

The four minifigs delivered in this box are overall very successful. Pigsy takes advantage of a new torso with a variant of the tactical vest seen in the set 80022 Spider Queen's Arachnoid Base marketed since the beginning of the year and the figurine reuses legs and a head already delivered in other sets.

The pad prints of the different torsos are all very original and well executed, we just regret that the white areas on Lee's legs are a bit bland on a black background. Under the panda costume, we can guess the collar of the shirt worn by the character in the set 80011 Red Son's Inferno Truck, it's consistent. Lee's face is not exclusive to this line, it is also that of several scientists in the LEGO CITY line. Mr Tang keeps his head and the scarf he wears in the set 80023 Monkie Kid's Team Dronecopter.

Note that there are about twenty stickers to stick in this box, but the two ammunition in the form of noodle dishes topped with a fried egg ejected via the fridge are pad printed, just like the Tile with the Pigsy logo which is also supplied in four other boxes and a polybag. For those wondering, the delivery drone remote control screen is a very common piece in the Ninjago and Star Wars ranges.

In short, I think this set has some nice arguments to make in order to find an audience: the caterpillar noodle bowl is fun to assemble, there is plenty of fun without having to immediately go back to the checkout and l inventory provides a slew of very interesting "food" items.

It will be difficult to find this box at a lower price than that charged by LEGO, the manufacturer does not distribute this range to its resellers in France and only markets these products intended primarily for the Asian market because it has undertaken not to no longer offer "geographic exclusivity".
