Fans of the video game which kept a lot of people busy during successive confinements and which has retained a rather loyal audience will therefore have to spend the modest sum of €179.95 or look elsewhere than at LEGO to save a few euros and it is at this price there they will bring together all the characters delivered in these boxes with the necessary incidental material to assemble a playset which will occupy a good part of the living room table or the bedroom floor.

We can invoke the resemblance between the approach used here and the products of the LEGO Super Mario universe with in particular the possibility of organizing the different modules of the same set according to your desires and then connecting each section to the others but it does not We must not count here on a playful overlay or any interactivity beyond the usual possibilities.

No interactive figurine, no bonus to scan, no dedicated application, these five boxes are classic derivative products sold by LEGO as allowing you to “get away from the screens”. However, you will have to have been in front of a screen for a sufficient amount of time to know what it is about and possibly spend your money on these sets which only offer the usual interactivity of LEGO products.

We can imagine that the youngest will find what they're looking for between two games on the Switch by aping the actions seen on the screen, but we're not going to lie, these products are especially attractive because they allow you to obtain some nicely designed minifigs. executed. The same minifigs sold with few or no parts would have found their audience in the same way but LEGO is a manufacturer of construction toys and you will therefore have to buy bricks to obtain the figurines of Tom Nook, Rosie, Marie, Bibi, Mathéo, Admiral, Clara and Lico.

The modularity of the concept is interesting with the possibility of organizing the overall playset according to the available space or your desires, for example by aligning all the products on a decorative shelf or by grouping all the constructions in the corner of the floor. 'room. The possibilities are endless, the accessories provided are numerous and the routes to be implemented to allow you to go from one house to another or to go from one house to the beach can be constantly renewed and diversified. From there to actually playing with the playset, you will have to be really motivated.

The three houses provided are only half-built and that's a bit of a shame. We can guess the economy of rooms under the guise of allowing access to the interior spaces and the concept deserved in my opinion better than these facades knowing that the rest is only made up of elements of vegetation and a few reliefs which do not offer a breathtaking building experience. The most courageous will have fun changing the windows of their homes, this is planned by LEGO and it is in line with the content of the video game.

We are obviously once again reaching the limits of the possibilities offered by the LEGO ecosystem when it comes to reproducing the content of a video game: you have to be content with mimicking the actions seen on the screen to have fun a little, less dose of video game fun. It is difficult to rely on the argument which consists of invoking that LEGO products allow us to move away from screens when a product is itself directly inspired by one of the most time-consuming video games of recent years, I I tried this approach with very young players, they quickly left these products aside by simply lining up the minifigs...in front of the dock of their Switch before resuming an online game.

The fact remains that LEGO offers very well executed derivative products here that are faithful to the reference license and that the figurines are successful. Many fans cite the kinship between these figurines with molded heads and the characters from the Fabuland universe, others only see minifigs which clearly go beyond the usual framework and have a little difficulty with the bias aesthetic, everyone has their own interpretation of what a minifig should be and the limitations of the format. As far as I am concerned, I think that we had to go there frankly to stick to the reference universe and that these minifigs would not have had the same flavor if LEGO had been satisfied with the usual constraints.

In any case, I'm not worried, these products will sell easily even if the prices charged are high, that all this happens a little late with a large group of players who have already moved on to something else or are less available to spend hours there and that the contents of these boxes remain of a simplicity which can disappoint the most demanding LEGO fans.

The Animal Crossing license is here however suitably declined by LEGO, we can always hope for bigger, more detailed and necessarily more expensive, but the compromise seems acceptable to me and the adaptation of the universe concerned seems credible enough to convince the fans who love to combine their video game passions with their affinity for LEGO products. The others will simply have saved €180.
