Today we can move on very quickly with the LEGO set 75547 Minion Pilot in Training, a small box of 119 pieces stamped 4+ which will be available from May 24th at the public price of ... 34.99 €.
As usual, we are promised that we will be able to recreate the cult scenes from an animated film that no one has seen yet by putting together what looks like an airplane. As a bonus, LEGO includes two characters in the box, Stuart in his pilot's uniform and Bob in his classic blue overalls. It's meager for 35 €.
The plane is not uninteresting even if the designer took a few shortcuts not to discourage the youngest fans fresh out of the DUPLO universe. As usual in the 4+ range, we have a large basic element and we graft a few parts on it, hoping to obtain something recognizable. The plane obtained here skips the cabin porthole windows but it still has landing gear, a commodity often rare at LEGO even in much more complex and expensive sets.
The interior layout of the plane will still not discourage the youngest, it is very basic. The designer could not help but add toilets, no doubt to accustom from an early age all those who will one day end up assembling a Structure.
For the rest, the machine which looks a little like the Barbie plane produced by Mattel with its wings too short for its fuselage is solid, it will be easily manipulated without breaking everything and the interior spaces are easily accessible. No stickers in this box, everything is pad printed.
The two figures provided have their seats reserved on the plane, with Stuart at the controls and Bob at the back in the cabin. Or the other way around, it's up to you. Stuart's bag of peanuts is no longer unique, it's the one seen since in Mr. Hooper's shop from the LEGO Ideas set 21324 123 Sesame Street. Taking into account that this box from the LEGO Minions range was produced before the LEGO Ideas set, this set was indeed the first to provide the accessory.
If you collect the Minions in their various outfits, it will be difficult to overlook the Stuart minifigure in an airline pilot outfit. You can choose to get it at retail through the secondary market or buy this box for 35 € and offer the rest of the set to a child, explaining that this plane is piloted by itself. If you really want a nearly identical 4+ airplane for less, the LEGO CITY set 60261 Central Airport (286) sold for 49.99 € but with a much more substantial content will eventually do the trick. It's up to you.
Note: The set presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at 10th May 2021 next at 23pm.
Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.
