Today we very quickly go around the content of the LEGO DREAMZzz set 71458 Crocodile Car, a box of 494 pieces available on the official online store at the public price of 62.99 €. Now you know the song, this spin-off is loosely inspired by the LEGO DREAMZzz animated series, the first 10 episodes of which are currently live on Youtube, Netflix or, Prime Video.
We are assembling here an all-terrain vehicle which is moreover rather successful for a product in this price range and this set once again takes advantage of the possibility of making it something other than an ordinary red car. It is possible to transform it into a car-crocodile or into a Monster Truck to the imposing jaw using simple well-researched modifications.
The crocodile version is obviously the most fun and it will undoubtedly be the favorite modification of the youngest. Whichever option you choose, there will only be a small handful of parts left unused, with each version taking advantage of a large portion of the available inventory. We feel that the designer did his best not to leave anything on the table once the chosen version is assembled, even the bottom of the crocodile's jaw becomes a small boat for Logan.
The vehicle based on the usual 8-stud chassis from the Speed Champions range can accommodate two minifigures in all its configurations by simply removing the roof. No steering, opening doors or suspensions, that's not what this type of product is about.
The set also allows you to assemble two small vehicles for the bad guys with a big motorcycle for the Night Hunter and a much more compact machine for his sidekick Snivel. so much the better for the playability of the whole, it will not be necessary to go back to the checkout to have a little fun.
Once again, we shouldn't be too careful about the fidelity of the interpretation of the main vehicle of the set compared to the version present in the animated series, it's the right color but we don't really find the design of the set. 'origin.
The version with the barrel at the back of the pick-up is also missing, LEGO will no doubt have wanted to avoid installing a bulky weapon on the product so as not to offend the parents. There are a handful of stickers to stick in this box but the eyes of the crocodiles are stamped.
As for the figurines provided, it's still just as successful but it's also a bit approximate compared to the characters seen on screen with graphic details that go by the wayside, such as Logan's outfit in his version Dream World. However, the handful of characters provided remains very attractive and the finish is excellent. Cooper in his version with his pad-printed helmet is exclusive to this set.
In short, this product does not really take any risks to seduce young audiences with a large red vehicle that should appeal to the youngest and a modification into a mechanical animal that will keep them busy for a few hours.
It's a good idea, it's a bit expensive, but we all know that this range will sooner or later end up being destocked everywhere and you just have to be patient if you want to collect the different pretty figurines provided in these boxes, for example. .
