Review: LEGO Marvel Black Panther 76213 King Namor's Throne Room

Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Marvel Black Panther set 76213 King Namor's Throne Room, a small box of 355 pieces which will be available on the official online store and in LEGO Stores from October 1, 2022 at the retail price of €34.99. As you probably already know, this set is a product derived from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which hits theaters in November.

The objective here is to assemble the throne of Namor the Sub-Mariner (nicknamed the Prince of the Seas in France), a new character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and at LEGO. This box being a product derived from a film which takes some liberties with the comics and the physique of the reference characters, do not expect to find the Namor seen for example in Avengers Vs. X-Men.

From what we see in the trailer for the film, the character's throne seems rather faithful if we integrate that LEGO pays as often in an assumed minimalism which makes it possible to offer a set positioned at less than 40 €. The construction is therefore content with a few parts, we find the shark's jaw, dressed here with a few stickers, and the manufacturer has integrated a precious stone chest hidden in the base. To eject the thing, it will be necessary to insert in front the three discs which will make it possible to push the trunk towards the exit located at the back. The underwater atmosphere is symbolized here by the presence of a few fish fixed on blue pieces and other algae, the imagination will do the rest.

LEGO also adds the Skirmisher, Shuri's pocket submarine, which comes down to a machine of a few parts, some of which are decorated with stickers but which at least has the merit of offering enough space to be able to install a minifig on it. , even if the driving position is far from ergonomic. Of them Stud Shooters are placed at the front, just to be able to shoot the evil Atlantean Attuma. So for less than €40, there's plenty of fun here with the built-in throne functionality and mini sub.

The three figurines provided are generally successful. Shuri is not yet wearing the Black Panther outfit here, we will have to wait a little longer to be entitled to confirmation that the young girl is wearing T'Challa's costume as expected. The minifig of the young girl with her raspberry-shaped hair vaguely inspired by the new look of the character is not exclusive to this box, it is also delivered in the set 76211 Shuri's Sunbird (355 pieces - 49.99 €) just like Attuma's.

The latter is rather successful, even if regulars of children's ranges, such as Legends of Chima, have already seen this type of very colorful figurine decked out in extravagant accessories. This is rarer in the Marvel range and it should also be kept in mind here that the character is directly based on the version of the film and not on the one seen in the comics which highlight this villain as for example in Fear Itself.

Namor, a mutant who can be considered the first of the X-Men, is here faithful to the version seen in the trailer for the film. The figurine has a pretty pad printing on the edge of the legs and it is equipped with a hair integrating the pointed ears of the characters. It lacks Tenoch Huerta's mustache and some golden details on the character's legs and arms to really stick to the outfit seen on the screen, but we will have to be satisfied with this interpretation with its detailed swimsuit and wings on its legs. .

In short, this little derivative product will probably not change the overall perception that many fans have of the LEGO Marvel range: it is a set that many will buy for the minifigs it contains, the rest being just a pretext to justify the designation of construction toy. The throne might be displayed on the corner of a shelf, the mini sub will probably end up at the bottom of the toy box.
