Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO Star Wars set 40531 Lars Family Homestead Kitchen, a small box of 195 pieces which will be offered from 160 € of purchase from May 1 to 8, 2022 on the official online store and in LEGO Stores during the operation May the 4th.
The subject treated is a little surprising, it is a partial representation of the underground kitchen of the farm of Owen Lars and Beru Whitesun Lars. We can wonder about the interest of reproducing part of the kitchen in question in LEGO bricks, but the most assiduous fans will perhaps find their account with a scene which at least has the merit of being new and original.
The assembly of the half-kitchen only takes a few minutes but there are some well-thought-out techniques in the arrangement of the vertical cupboards and the perforated counter. For the rest, it is of no great interest, the ground remains in visible studs and the back of the construction does not hide any surprises. Some accessories are provided including an unpad-printed milk carton and a micro landspeeder which refers to that of the set Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) 75341 Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder which will be available from May 1st.
Those who are interested in the promotional offer which will allow them to obtain this small box will undoubtedly find the necessary motivation thanks to the presence of a new minifig, that of Beru Whitesun Lars. This figurine is in fact unpublished by what it represents more than by the elements which compose it: The neutral skirt in Medium Dark Flesh is that of Molly Weasley in the LEGO Harry Potter set 75980 Attack on the Burrow marketed since 2020 and the head with the two facial expressions is also that of Helga Hufflepuff, Mrs Flume and Molly Weasley.
There remains the new torso which is rather successful even if the color of the garment under the blue vest does not really match the bottom of the outfit. The set is quite faithful to the version of the character seen on screen but I find the facial features far too drawn and tense. Looks like Beru is either annoyed or pissed off. I also note a shift in the pad printing of the white pupil on one of the faces, it's a shame.
Collectors who accumulate figurines belonging to the Star Wars universe will inevitably find something to fill a box in their frames or their showcases, but this kitchen does not seem to me to be an essential exhibition product to which it will be necessary to give pride of place on an already cluttered shelf. Many will be satisfied with it since it is a free product (subject to purchase), some will not even open it to resell it later and amortize part of their purchases.
The scene did not deserve to end up as a classic product of the Star Wars range, its status as a wink disguised as a promotional product makes it almost desirable even if in the end it is only two white walls and some accessories. A wink that will still require spending at least €160 on products from the LEGO Star Wars range and paying for them at their usual retail price. As usual, it's up to you.
Note: The set presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at May 2th next at 23:59 p.m. Just post a comment under the article to participate.
Update : The winner was drawn and notified by email, his nickname is indicated below.
I don't work for LEGO®, I am not corrupted by LEGO®, I buy my LEGO® myself and what I am given, I offer it to the readers of the site.
For the rest, the owners of the respective brands mentioned on the site remain the owners and it is very well like that, blablabla ....
The fact that LEGO thrills by sending sets for reviews and other tests obviously does not influence my opinion on these products.
