Review: LEGO Star Wars 75268 Snowspeeder

Today we quickly tour the LEGO Star Wars set 75268 Snowspeeder (91 pieces - € 19.99), a small box stamped "4+" with easy to assemble content and plenty of fun quickly.

As often with this sub-range which offers products accessible to the youngest, we are in a format very close to that of the Microfighters range with a compact machine of very rough proportions. Nothing serious if we consider that the target of the product would not have to do with an ultra-detailed model and that the Snowspeeder exists in other more successful versions, including that of the set 75259 Snowspeeder marketed since 2019 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range.

No stickers here to prevent the youngest from having difficulty when applying the stickers and the four pieces which are decorated with patterns, two control panels, the canopy and the nose of the Snowspeeder, are all pad printed. The most observers will have noted that this Snowspeeder is an imaginary version which only allows the installation of the driver.

Because you have to be able to have fun quickly, LEGO provides a Snowtrooper and his Speeder Bike with an ultra-simplified design. As a bonus, you also need to assemble a Hoth mini-base with a Tiles round. This is the only feature of the set, the two devices are not equipped with projectile launchers.

By the way, I wonder who really are these four or five year old children to whom parents offer this type of set. Unless you absolutely want to impose your own culture on your kids and force them to watch the saga from a young age, I think the majority of children this age have other interests than the original Star Wars trilogy. .. Even if it means trying to attract future customers for its most expensive sets in the range, LEGO could go smoothly by possibly declining in 4+ format products for example based on the animated series Star Wars Resistance, it would seem to me. more reasonable and consistent.

Above, you will find an exploded view of the Snowspeeder which shows the level of simplification of the construction. Note that the instructions are spread over two booklets, one for the Snowspeeder and the other for the Speeder Bike and the mini-base, which allows two young fans to share the assembly of the set.

The more creative can try to reuse the large white base that serves as a support for the parts of the Snowspeeder to make it the front of a larger vessel or boat. LEGO delivers only two characters in this small box, a rebel pilot and a Snowtrooper. The pilot's outfit is the one already used for many characters: Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter, Dutch Vander, Dak Ralter or even Luke Skywalker and the character's head is also rather common because it has already been seen on a slew of rebel pilots since 2014. The helmet is that of Wedge Antilles who, accompanied by his gunner Wes Janson, participated in the Battle of Hoth at the controls of a Snowspeeder.

The Snowtrooper is equipped with the outfit available since 2019 in sets 75239 Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack et 75241 Action Battle Echo Base Defense. Under the helmet ... the usual edgy Clone head. No Stud Shooters in the hands of the two characters, one obtains good old classic blasters.

Come on, there is nothing to spend long hours (over) analyzing the contents of this small box of less than 100 pieces sold at the exaggerated price of 19.99 €. Someone in the marketing department will have decided that the "recruitment" of customers for the LEGO Star Wars range should begin as early as 4 years old and LEGO is clearly taking advantage of the habit that some parents have of paying full price for DUPLO sets by making them. prompting a still costly transition.
