Today we take a quick look at the LEGO Star Wars sets 75263 Resistance Y-Wing Microfighter (86 pieces - 9.99 €), 75264 Kylo Ren's Shuttle Microfighter (72 pieces - 9.99 €) and 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters (198 pieces - 19.99 €), three small boxes which join the already very long list of vehicles and vessels in the format microfighters.
The concept does not seem to tire fans and LEGO continues to expand this range while other ideas at least as original as the small boxes in the range Planet Series or Mighty Pickups Marvel and DC Comics left the manufacturer's catalog in 2013 and 2018, respectively.
No big surprise in the sets 75263 Resistance Y-Wing Microfighter et 75264 Kylo Ren's Shuttle Microfighter, we obtain two micro-vessels in which we can install the characters provided. It's chibi, it's cute, it's quickly assembled, it doesn't take up too much space and it's not too expensive. Kylo Ren's shuttle even has the luxury of having movable wings, and both ships are equipped with expellable ammunition. Guaranteed playability for the youngest.
The and 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters offers an assembly experience to share with two separate pouches and two instruction booklets that allow the Bantha and T-16 Skyhopper to be assembled separately.
The T-16 Skyhopper, an unknown device from the saga that we only see furtively in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones et Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is according to all encyclopedic sites dedicated to the Star Wars universe a airspeeder high performance on which Luke learned to fly with Biggs Darklighter. Of which act.
If many MOCeurs have offered more or less convincing reproductions of the machine over the years, LEGO has not made it a chestnut tree in its range with only two sets since 1999: references 4477 (2003) and 75081 (2015). This new micro-version, failing to be in the classic format, will therefore allow fans to wait while waiting for something better.
The model is acceptable given the improbable design of the vehicle and other than the blue Technic pins visible in the rear and in the cockpit when the provided character is not seated at the controls, I don't have much of his own. reproach.
This set also allows us to assemble a creature from the Star Wars bestiary, as was already the case in the set. 75228 Escape Pod vs. Dewback released in 2019. I know that many figure collectors prefer molded creatures, but we can't fault LEGO for not sticking to the concept of the construction toy.
The Bantha delivered here is roughly on par with last year's Dewback, with its strengths and weaknesses. It's a little coarse, the neck joint based on Ball joint is really visible and the peeling effect is symbolic. It was a priori difficult to do better on this scale despite the intensive use of Wedges with 45 ° cutout.
As with the Dewback, I once again salute the designer's risk-taking, but I hope to be entitled to a molded version of the animal soon. We will also welcome the use of Wampa horns last seen in 2016 in the set. 75098 Assault on Hoth, it works. As with the T-16 Skyhopper, the blue Technic pins used to secure the horns are a bit too visible for my liking.
As for the four minifigs that these different boxes allow to obtain, two of these three sets offer a good opportunity for those who do not have to do with bricks to add a few characters to their collections without spending a fortune: Kylo's minifig Ren is identical to that delivered in the set 75256 Kylo Ren's Shuttle (129.99 €) and Zorii Bliss was so far only available in the set 75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter marketed since October 2019 at the public price of € 69.99.
The pilot of the T-16 Skyhopper is however for the moment exclusive to the set 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters and the Tusken Raider is the one already seen in the set 75270 Obi-Wan's Hut (29.99 €) marketed this year. The Pilot's Helmet will eventually be used by those who want to assemble a version of Dorovio Bold, a female rebel pilot who makes a cameo appearance in theEpisode VI: Return of the Jedi.
In my opinion, this new batch of microfighters does not demerit and it allows as a bonus to get some minifigs available only in much more expensive sets. The arrival of creatures in the sets of two constructions is not a bad idea but I can easily understand those who would have preferred a craft or a ship instead of these rather rude animals. The other mini-constructions are very correct and if you have embarked on the collection of this range launched in 2014 which today exceeds thirty references, you have no reason not to continue.
Note: The set of three sets presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at 18th February 2020 next at 23pm.
Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.
