LEGO Star Wars Panel @ Celebration Europe 2013

As much to tell you right away, LEGO has NOTHING planned for Celebration Europe.

Explanation: The LEGO booth which stands in the middle of the main hall is in fact a temporary store deported from the LEGO Store in Essen, the city that hosts the convention. Visitors can buy all the 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets there, and pick up a Han Solo polybag (that of May 4) for 55 € of purchase. End of the story.

No exclusive product, no special minifigure, no poster, no to sell or to win. NOTHING.

No new products presented, no announcements, no representative of the brand on site. The temporary workers who supervise the stand are overwhelmed, they know nothing about it and concentrate on trying to explain to you that no one here works for LEGO.

Before the doors opened, the lines were packed with fans eager to see if LEGO had planned an exclusive set, why not the same as at Comic Con in San Diego. Later in the morning, these same fans crossed in the aisles did not hide their immense disappointment, and their feeling of being forgotten by the great family of LEGO fans.

Only interesting moment of the day: The LEGO Star Wars panel presented by James Burns and Duncan Jenkins. 30 minutes of interesting information on the range from its launch to the present day. The two collectors specializing in the subject know how to capture the attention of spectators who come in large numbers to discover the world of collecting. In 30 minutes, they go around the subject, deliver a few anecdotes and play the game of questions asked by the spectators.

Only interesting news of the day: James Burns reveals that LEGO has in its boxes other sets based on the Original Trilogy of the same size as the set 10236 Ewok Village. He had access to visuals and he announced that nice surprises are on the program with some anthology scenes reproduced by LEGO.

He also announces that there will be other ships from the Star Wars universe that will be reproduced in life size (Like the Times Square X-Wing) and presented by the end of the year.

On a more personal level, a small minute of satisfaction when the two animators present a list of sources of information for fans of the LEGO Star Wars range and cite among the many sites you see in the photo above, hothbricks.com.

At the end of the panel, a visual of a novelty 2014 is presented: The one we discovered a few days ago of the set 75043 AT-AP ... (See this article).

For its part, the Hasbro stand is full and sells exclusive products to the hundreds of people who queue ...

On the side of the stand run by the fans, some really nice MOCs of which I have put you pictures below. Further on, a portion of the 501st Legion parade reproduced with minifigs.

For the rest, great atmosphere, the cosplayers put on a show, radio-controlled astromech droids run everywhere, the children are in heaven, and obviously begging their parents to buy them a box of LEGOs ...

Hoth Bricks @ Star Wars Celebration Europe

Departure in a few hours for Essen in Germany or takes place this weekend CelebrationEurope (II).

Obviously, this type of convention is always interesting for a Star Wars fan, but I go there also and especially to see what LEGO intends to present after a Comic Con certainly rich in revelations on the future products and the ranges to come, but during which LEGO has been relatively discreet about the Star Wars novelties. Only one product was officially presented at Comic Con in San Diego: The set 75043 AT-AP scheduled for 2014 (See here).

I will meet Omar Ovalle there, who is traveling from the USA especially for the occasion.

LEGO has a large stand on Celebration Europe in the middle of the main hall, right next to a space reserved for the creations of the AFOLs present and the Hasbro stand (See the map).

A panel (See here) presented by James Burns and Duncan Jenkins will discuss the LEGO Star Wars range on Friday. I hope that some new information will be revealed there.

I also hope to be able to attend the presentation of the new animated series Star Wars Rebels which will take place on Saturday (See here).

I will be sure to report you here, on Facebook and Twitter, any interesting information (and photos) that will surface around the LEGO universe.

IF you're there and see a guy with a red LEGO bag slung over his shoulder and a Hoth Bricks t-shirt, it's me ...

Iron Patriot (Minifigs4u) & Iron Patriot (Christo)

The custom Iron Patriot minifig offered by Christo (on the right in the photo) has just arrived and this is the opportunity to present it to you along with the one produced by Minifigs4u (on the left). Obviously, the comparison leaves no chance to the custom of Minifigs4u in all areas: quality of printing, general finish and design. the version of Christo is also visually closer to the official LEGO minifigure, except for the helmet of course (Click here).

The finesse of the details on the Christo minifigure is exceptional, and the metallic rendering of the gray parts of the helmet is simply superb. With discharge for Minifigs4u, the prices practiced by these two creators of custom minifigs go from simple to triple, that of Christo being the most expensive. The printing techniques used are also different: Digital printing for Minifigs4u with the inherent flaws in this technique which I had already told you about in another article (See here) and pad printing for Christo.

2013 LEGO @San Diego Comic Con Poll

During San Diego Comic Con 2013, LEGO distributed cards on its booth asking visitors to give their opinion via an online survey that consists of a few questions.

So this is an opportunity to give your opinion to the manufacturer, who will undoubtedly read the responses to this survey more carefully than the emails sent to customer service, and may draw some profitable conclusions from them for years to come.

Please note, as this survey is intended for convention visitors, you will need to be cunning to make yourself heard and answer questions as if you had actually attended Comic Con.

I know it's not very honest to recommend that you use this poll to make your voice heard if you have something to say against LEGO, but considering that every opportunity to voice my opinion is good to take, I advise you so to do the same ...

Clarification : Lego raffle refers to the raffles that awarded the few hundred exclusive minifigs to the lucky ones.

The survey in English can be found at this address.

Lego mixels

Finally, here is more information about this new house license: LEGO Mixels is in fact the result of a partnership between the Cartoon Network chain and LEGO.

These two major players in the world of children's entertainment are joining forces to create a franchise that brings together television content, video games and construction toys.

While the American channel will broadcast the animated short films, LEGO will market the above minifigures, which can be combined with each other and which will be launched in three successive waves during 2014 at very competitive prices.

A mobile application will also be launched in 2014.

This range is obviously aimed at the youngest customers of LEGO.

I'll pass you the rest of the press release about LEGO's desire to continue to offer products that promote creativity, etc, etc ... You can read it in full (And in English) at this address.
