To be patient in this somewhat calm period, here is another book on the LEGO theme, the title of which is full of promise.
Published by Glénat in the Over the Pop collection, which brings together many books initially offered by Muttpop, The Art of LEGO Design: How to Get Creative in 13 Lessons is the French version of Jordan Schwartz's book The Art of LEGO Design. As much to tell you right away, it is not a book of illustrations nor a contemplative pavement that compiles the best creations seen on flickr and others as we often see at the moment. It's a book ... to read, incidentally well illustrated.
Here, the author offers to introduce you to construction techniques, from the simplest to the most original. Not being MOCeur, I must admit that I approached the matter with a little reluctance. Curiosity quickly took over and although I won't be putting the advice into practice in the near future, I still feel like I've acquired a bit of extra LEGO culture.
Ideas, tips, common mistakes to avoid, all divided into themes and sufficiently illustrated to understand the author's point, with the added bonus of several interviews with confirmed artists and some historical reminders to understand the evolution of the LEGO product and the possibilities creative results: Everything is there.
This guide, or manual for the perfect little MOCeur, is in my opinion accessible to the youngest, as long as they can (and like) read. They will find there something to build other than the pile of basic bricks which they then proudly present to you as being an airplane, a truck or a boat.
Adults will find some useful reminders here as well as timeless techniques that allow you to no longer "block" on the step that will make your creation something that really looks like what it is supposed to represent.
Like any self-respecting guide or manual, the book has the essential index that allows you to quickly find a theme or a construction technique.
This book is undoubtedly a good starting point to hope one day to exploit the full potential of LEGO bricks and parts in your creations. Do not hesitate to put it in the hands of the youngest LEGO fans, it would be a shame to deprive them of this interesting synthesis of advice and construction techniques.
Availability announced for November 16. 25 € at amazon. At the same price on FNAC.com.
I will save you the copy that I received, I will add a few bricks to go straight to practice (Set LEGO Classic 10692 Creative Bricks). Draw from among the comments posted below (Deadline for participation: October 20, 2016 at 23:59 p.m.).
Notice to all LEGO fans who are followers of brickfilm and stop-motion production, the 2016 edition of the festival Brick Cine can allow you to make your work known and gain recognition from the jury and / or the public.
To participate, it's very simple :

Three prizes will be awarded during the event Brick Fans 2016 : The Gold Brick for participants over 18, the Prize Mini Brick for the youngest and the Audience Award.
The first two awards will be awarded by the festival jury. The Audience Prize will be awarded via a vote organized here. You will have to choose from the ten films in competition the one that you think deserves to be awarded.
Please note: Your brickfilm must only feature LEGO products and must not contain insults, scenes of violence, etc.
Below are the different deadlines to be respected to be in the race and the important dates to remember:

I know some of you are allergic to the English versions of the many books that cover the popularity of LEGO products. I also regularly receive messages reproaching me for only speaking English versions and too rarely announcing the release of localized versions. I heard the message.
LThe publisher QILINN (The youth branch of the Huginn & Munnin house) is picking up the pace at the end of the year and is offering several books translated into French from October 14, a selection of which you will find below.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Box coming soon on the shelves. In the box, three books: An abridged version of theUpdated and expanded Illustrated Encyclopedia and two books full of stickers. To go with it all, the 30278 Poe's X-Wing Fighter polybag (64 pieces) is included. 24.95 € at amazon.
Two other books around the LEGO Star Wars range are also available in French:
LEGO Star Wars: Build Your Adventure, localized version of the excellent LEGO Star Wars: Build your own Adventure I was telling you about a few weeks ago. Tons of ideas, a rebel pilot, bricks and an exclusive Y-Wing Microfighter. It's all good. 26.95 € at amazon.
LEGO Star Wars: 100 cult scenes, a book of photos without much interest including I presented you the English version. Not much to say about it, it's mediocre. 19.95 € at amazon.
As for the Ninjago range, two French versions are announced:
LEGO Ninjago: Build Your Adventure, with dozens of ideas, a Lloyd minifig and parts to put together a ninja mech exclusive. Same principle as the Star Wars version. It's creative, very well done. I say yes. 26.95 € at amazon.
LEGO Ninjago: The Encyclopedia of Characters Updated and Expanded. The reference book for young fans of the range with an exclusive Jay minifigure in his outfit Techno Silverstone and a copy of Starfarer, the favorite comic of young ninjas. 21.95 € at amazon.
Fans of LEGO-style architecture will be happy to learn that Tom Alphin's book, The LEGO Architect, is now available in French. On the menu: 186 pages to revisit the major trends in modern architecture including 12 models with detailed instructions to build at home (with your bricks). 24.95 € at amazon.
Finally, all those who lack inspiration to decorate their Christmas tree will find their happiness in the book Lego Christmas by Chris McVeigh. 220 pages of ideas, 15 detailed models. What to occupy you while waiting for the end of year holidays. 14.95 € at amazon.
Here are some close-ups of two of the minifigs from The LEGO Batman Movie range already for sale on eBay: Above, The Riddler in a beautiful green costume with pad printing on his arms and below, Batman, with the detail of his two facial expressions.
The announcements indicate that these two minifigs are delivered in the set 70912 Arkham Asylum. It seems to me that The Riddler is only provided in a prisoner's outfit in this set.
The seller will probably have other minifigs from the same range to offer, you can keep an eye on his ads at this address.
If there are still a few die-hards among you who are hoping that LEGO is not really done with the LEGO Jurassic World range, here's something to wait: The animated short delivered in bundle with the blu-ray of the film is now available free online.
This pack is a priori marketed only in the USA (See at amazon).
