Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Disney Pixar Lightyear set 76832 XL-15 Spaceship, a box of 497 pieces available at the retail price of €49.99 since April 24th.

If I'm talking about this box again, it's mainly because it's not just a mere derivative product for children from an animated film not yet released, but it's because it also has something interest the most nostalgic adult fans.

It is obviously not on the side of the assembly that the most demanding LEGO fans will find their account, this is a toy which once is not customary, however, benefits from the passage of a small exhibition stand to highlight the construction.

It's hard to find fault with the design of this vessel, 27 cm long by 18 cm wide, assembled in a few minutes, which is essentially content with a stacking of parts and a few very successful finishes, it's compact, it's solid and it really looks good.

Fans of the Battlestar Galactica universe, like yours truly, will inevitably see a Viper there, some will make the connection with the ships of the video game WipEout and others rather nostalgic for the period Classic Space at LEGO will see it as a tribute to the defunct range of slightly flat vessels. To each his own memories and references, this product is also made for that.

76832 lego disney pixar litghyear xl15 spaceship 5

76832 lego disney pixar litghyear xl15 spaceship 6

More interestingly, the new yellow canopy is a never-before-seen feature wanted by Angus MacLane, director of the longtime Lightyear and AFOL animated film. It was he who suggested the idea to LEGO and for those who have already forgotten, Angus MacLane is also the creator of the LEGO Ideas WALL•E project, which became an official product in 2015 under the reference 21303 WALL•E.

The presence of this new piece is therefore a nice nod to a whole generation of LEGO fans, even if we lose loyalty to the reference ship seen in the trailer. There are a few patterns missing on the canopy but it's not that bad in the end, the LEGO version of the ship is only a very free interpretation of the one visible in the film anyway, with a lot of approximations and shortcuts.

Another detail that should please all those who are followers of the diversion of parts from their initial use: the use of LEGO Technic differential elements for the two reactors of the ship. This part, available since 2020, is very appropriate here and it really helps to improve the finish of the rear of the ship.

The buildable black stand to comfortably set the ship up on a shelf between play sessions is simple but well-designed enough to show the thing off at its best. The small plate which distills some facts on the machine gives a little collector's side to the product, enough to "train" from an early age children who will later invest their money in much more expensive products also flanked by a plate sticker based.

76832 lego disney pixar litghyear xl15 spaceship 8

76832 lego disney pixar litghyear xl15 spaceship 7

The sheet of stickers is quite substantial with thirteen stickers that dress the ship. Good news for the fans, the computer IVAN installed in the cockpit is stamped just like the fuel cell which can be inserted in the back of the ship.

On the side of the three minifigs provided, this is also a call here to fans of universes featuring space conquest, its ships and its astronauts: Buzz's outfit is sufficiently neutral and generic to be reused just like the accessories supplied including the helmet in two colors usually available in the CITY range. The pad prints are very successful, each of the three characters comes with additional hair and Buzz even benefits from a head with a blue hood and another more classic one. the head with the hood is affected by the usual problem of paleness of the flesh color printed on a blue background, it will have to be satisfied.
If it's the Sox cat that interests you, know that it is also available identically in a cheaper set also available since April 24, the reference 76831 Zurg Battle (261 pieces - €29.99). Darby Steel and Mo Morrison use identical outfits from the helmet to the legs through the torso, there is only the removable breastplate which changes from one character to another.

In short, this set is in my opinion a very nice derivative product which must succeed in seducing both the youngest and the nostalgic adult fans of the range. Classic Space. It's already a lot these days with a product at 50 €. Some fans of Buzz Lightyear in its "usual" form will perhaps be a little disappointed by the somewhat too generic side of the figure delivered in this box and they may prefer to turn to the two other sets already available.

76208 lego marvel thor love thunder goat boat 1

Today we take a quick tour of the contents of the LEGO Marvel Thor Love and Thunder set 76208 The Goat Boat, a box of 564 pieces available since April 26, 2022 at the retail price of €49.99.

This set is a product derived from the movie Thor: Love and Thunder expected in theaters next July and the proposed construction seems to be more or less in line with what we can see of the longship pulled by two mystical Asgardian goats present in the trailer. You have to keep in mind that LEGO offers us a children's toy and not an exhibition model, so everything is more or less simplified, even caricatural with a little humorous touch which is not to displease me.

Depending on your affinity with LEGO products and their content, the stars of the set will be the two goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder or the five minifigs delivered in this box. Or the 43 cm long by 12 cm wide drakkar which will become secondary for many collectors but which does not demerit given the scale of the set. The set is assembled in a few minutes, it is not the fairly linear construction "experience" without big surprises that will justify the asking price.

The two goats may disappoint some, they are based on parts and their finish is quite rough despite two frankly successful pad-printed heads if we once again integrate the somewhat caricatural aspect of the product. The designer did not encumber himself with a complex system of harnesses to allow the two goats to pull the longship, the two animals can be easily removed and those who are only looking for a boat to exhibit will undoubtedly find what they are looking for.

The drakkar itself seems rather convincing to me, the hull is relatively simple but the shapes are there. No mast or sail, goats do all the work. The shields attached to the sides of the hull are stickers but they are nicely worked and the rendering is acceptable. The bow of the boat is piece based, it's a bit messy if you get too close but very decent when viewed from a distance. You can store Stormbreaker on a clip between the two uprights, why not.

Despite the presence of five characters, the longship remains a bit poor in accessories to install on the deck. At the very least, a finish on the model of the alternation between Tiles stringers and parts with studs from the cabin roof would have been appreciated on the deck to improve the overall finish of the boat and really highlight the minifigures. Under the hull, LEGO also forgot to install some wheels for us to be able to really play with this drakkar without having to keep it permanently at arm's length and to avoid scratching the parts present.

76208 lego marvel thor love thunder goat boat 6

For 50 €, we also get five minifigs and it's rather good news knowing that there is no "generic" character here. The Thor, Mighty Thor (Jane Foster) and Valkyrie minifigures are pad-printed to overdrive with a truly polished finish.

Only soft cloth capes seem obsolete to me today, especially since LEGO offered us very convincing plastic versions for Batman or Doctor Strange. These dust rags in my opinion deserve to go away once and for all, they don't really showcase all the effort that has gone into bringing us beautiful miniatures.

Korg is a simple minifigure scaled to the other characters, so we lose the size difference between the creature and the humans in the set even if the angular "cap" is there to try to compensate. Visually, it's rather successful, we find all the attributes seen in the trailer with the exception of the leather protections on the arms of the character. We feel that LEGO is still making some savings here and there to balance the cost of the product.

Gorr is a little disappointing, he has to settle for neutral white legs that don't really reflect the few artworks and toys of the character already available. He too could have benefited from a molded white cape, the accessory would have been perfect to make this minifig something more convincing than a simple generic mummy.

76208 lego marvel thor love thunder goat boat 10

76208 lego marvel thor love thunder goat boat 15

I therefore do not need to specify it and you have seen it yourself, this product derived from a highly anticipated film therefore ticks all the boxes: its public price seems relatively reasonable to me in view of its content which brings together a construction rather convincing associated with a nice cast of characters and it has the merit of being really inspired by at least one scene from the film seen in the trailer. The sheet of stickers is certainly substantial but the longship really benefits from the presence of these different stickers. You might not glue them but the finish of the drakkar will not be as finished.

If the public price of the product still seems too high to you, wait a few weeks and you can, as usual, find this box at an even lower price at the usual retailers. Those who agree to do without Valkyrie and Korg can turn to the other box inspired by the film, the set 76207 Attack on New Asgard (19.99 €), but I think it would be a shame to exchange the longship and the two goats for the formless creature of the less expensive of the two boxes.

21333 lego ideas the starry night van gogh moma 1

Today we are quickly interested in the content of a novelty in the LEGO Ideas range, the set 21333 The Starry Night, which will be available as a VIP preview from May 25, 2022 at the retail price of €169.99. No need to be an enlightened art lover to recognize the subject treated in this box of 2316 pieces, it is an interpretation of the famous painting The Starry Night (The Starry Night) painted by Vincent Van Gogh in 1889 during of his passage to the asylum of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1941.

The set is inspired by the project Vincent Van Gogh: The Starry Night submitted by legotruman (Truman Cheng) on the LEGO Ideas platform, validated by 10.000 supporters and definitively approved by LEGO in February 2021. It was obviously reworked by a brand designer to lead to the product which will be available on the shelves of the official store.

The selection of this rather original creation corresponds perfectly with LEGO's ambitions in terms of seducing the adult public who occasionally like to assemble a few bricks: It's art in LEGO sauce and the object can be displayed on the dresser of the living room without looking like an adult who still "plays" with his ships and other LEGO trucks.

The manufacturer has retained the aesthetic bias of the carrier of the initial project with a table that gains in depth thanks to a beautiful 3D effect. We therefore leave here the usual diverse and varied mosaics which even if they are gathered in the range entitled "LEGO ART" have nothing really artistic apart from the fact that they reproduce photos, objects or known characters.

We cannot blame LEGO for having distorted the reference creation, the designer who took over the file in hand strictly respected all the intentions of the creator. Only the background of the sky is flat, everything else from the cypresses to the swirls of the sky passing by the stars and the village with its lights is in relief. The creation goes out of the frame and takes on volume, it's successful if you consider that it was the intended objective.

21333 lego ideas the starry night van gogh moma 19

21333 lego ideas the starry night van gogh moma 20

LEGO provides a minifig of the painter with an easel that features a reproduction of the reference painting. One might wonder if these elements were really necessary, but the manufacturer has found how to integrate them effectively into the overall volume via a small remote platform.

It is nicely executed and the presence of this minifig changes the whole perception of the construction: the painting is not one, it is the real starry night seen by the painter from his room which is proposed to us. The resulting work is therefore on the white plate placed on the easel.

The assembly of the product is not what one would call "relaxing" and that's LEGO's fault. Beyond the relative complexity of the construction, it is especially the instruction booklet that spoils the pleasure with a big problem of colors: we do not really find the different shades of blue and green over the pages and the confusion inevitably arises at certain stages.

You have to go by deduction to use the right pieces in certain places and get the desired result. Since it is a question here of stacking layers of parts, it is better to be vigilant not to have to dismantle several rows of elements in order to correct a possible inversion of parts. Take my word for it.

In the end, I found the assembly phase really laborious and it was the pleasure of finally being able to observe the finished product that allowed me to forgive the technical errors of the manufacturer and the impression of working on the assembly line for hours. .

The construction needs to be seen from a certain distance to have its small effect. Up close, however, only the cypress and the spiral in the sky seem a bit crude to me, the rest can be seen as an artistic interpretation of the reference work. The tree clearly protruding from the frame, you will have to be careful not to catch a branch when moving the object to find the right place for it.

The micro-village is successful, we take pleasure in discovering the different techniques used to create the houses with their colored roofs or the church with its bell tower. For the rest, it's stacking of parts without much interest which only makes sense when the last page of the instruction booklet is turned.

21333 lego ideas the starry night van gogh moma 13

21333 lego ideas the starry night van gogh moma 12

The frame is also very successful, it is thick and its design gives it a truly stunning appearance. It would almost be mistaken for a real one. Only regret: many black parts are marked or a little scratched and it's a shame on a high-end exhibit.

The minifig is also very convincing, LEGO did not skimp on the pad printing so that the tribute to Van Gogh is up to par. Since the character is accompanied by his pad-printed work on a plate itself placed on an easel, it will be possible to dissociate the main construction from the rest and to exhibit the two sets separately: the painting on the wall, the painter with his easel on the corner of a desk.

You understood it thanks to the photos that I propose to you, we assemble the creation itself and then slide it into a frame, or a window, which gives it character and which allows you to install this 3D painting on the wall. On the back of the object there is the hook usually supplied with the mosaics of the LEGO ART range, the finish is really very correct with two studs which allow the painting to be kept perfectly vertical.

It will also be possible to exhibit the painting on a piece of furniture, it is stabilized by a crutch placed on the junction between the frame and the platform which accommodates Van Gogh and his easel. There are no stickers in this box, so you get a few nicely pad-printed pieces to embody the stars and the moon.

I have long wondered if LEGO would manage to get by with the selection of such an atypical and complex project, I must admit that I find the "official" version of the product both very successful and respectful of the original creation of reference. This is far from always the case in the LEGO Ideas range.

This product should meet at least a success of esteem, it will only really appeal to those who are sensitive to the work of Van Gogh or collectors who strive to collect all the products marketed under the LEGO Ideas banner. This is not my case, but I think that many art lovers, not necessarily LEGO fans, should largely find their account there even if the set will probably not work miracles in terms of sales volume .

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 1

Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO set 10302 Transformers Optimus Prime, a box of 1508 pieces which will be available at the retail price of €169.99 from June 1, 2022.

Might as well make things clear right away, Optimus Prime fans in version Michael Bay Cinematic Universe will perhaps be a little disappointed with this model: this is a reproduction of the toy marketed in Japan by Takara under the Diaclone brand in 1980 then in the USA by Hasbro in 1984, delivered here without the trailer. It is therefore immediately less shiny than the version seen on screen in films released since 2007.

The promise here is ambitious, LEGO committing to allow the passage of the Autobot from robot mode to vehicle version without having to disassemble anything, or even remove parts. And yet I want to say that it's the least you can do for a manufacturer of construction toys: to offer a model that pays homage to a mythical toy for an entire generation implies respecting even the major functionalities that have it makes success. This was the case with Voltron in the set 21311 LEGO Ideas Voltron Defender of the Universe, there was no reason that Optimus Prime could not benefit from the same treatment.

I'm from the reference toy generation and I vaguely remember having had many more or less transformable vehicles in my hands, probably copies of Hasbro products for that matter. Some necessarily remember several toys from the Transformers universe that are almost impossible to "transform" without getting upset because they don't have the documentation at hand. This is somewhat the case here, it will be necessary to refer to the instruction booklet for the first manipulations but the process which is broken down into about fifteen steps on paper is memorized quickly.

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 4

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 3

To achieve the expected result expected by fans of the franchise, there was only one solution: to massively use the full range of Ball Seals, notched axles and clips existing at LEGO. And that's what the designer did, with the arrival of a robot that has 19 points of articulation and that transforms well into a truck without spending hours on it or dismantling everything.

In reality, in a few manipulations, Optimus Prime is converted into a truck. Going back from truck to robot is in theory at least as easy by taking the instructions backwards, but LEGO doesn't explicitly document the transformation in this sense.

The first transformations can quickly be a bit annoying, we try to adjust the different modules to get the best possible truck and it's sometimes a bit complicated. There is always a space here or there but the result is overall very satisfying and you will impress your friends on occasion.

The assembly of this Autobot only takes a few hours and does not hold any notable surprises. We quickly realize that the limbs and torso of Optimus Prime have been designed to withstand the manipulations necessary to transform the robot into a truck, nothing comes off inadvertently and there are only a few sub-assemblies like the thumbs of the hands which will be a little fragile on arrival.

In the end, the robot is massive, a little "massive" even, but it's for a good cause. It was designed with the need to be able to handle and convert it without breaking everything in mind. There are still a few sparse spaces at the junction between the shoulders and the forearms and several surfaces with a very rough finish in the back or at the level of the inside of the arms, but we will do with it.

The head of Optimus Prime seems to me successful and well proportioned even if it seems a little "detached" from the body under certain angles. LEGO cleverly masks this feeling on official visuals by often presenting the construction from a low angle.

As on the reference toy, we find here some "chrome" parts which give a little cachet to this exhibition model. The grille, the side tanks, the front of the legs and the mirrors are metallic. Too bad for the two chimneys behind the cabin, they would have really benefited from a little shine rather than being satisfied with these two gray pines of a distressing sadness.

Optimus Prime has no knees, we will have to do without. It will therefore be impossible to exhibit the model with, for example, one knee on the ground, but the rigidity of the legs is somewhat compensated by the possibility of spreading them apart to vary the poses and with both feet on Ball Seals always remain perfectly in contact with the ground and do not slip thanks to the small orange rubber inserts usually used on the tracks of LEGO Technic vehicles. This is enough for an exhibition product that is not intended to end up in the hands of the youngest.

It will be necessary to stick three stickers on the robot without counting that of the descriptive plate but the sheet provided remains very reasonable and many elements are pad printed. I'm not drawing you a picture, everything that is not on the board that I scanned for you is therefore pad-printed: the eyes and the front of the Optimus Prime helmet, the rims of the wheels or even the logos on the shoulders and the yellow patterns on the forearms.

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 5

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 17

Some accessories are provided, just to be able to vary the pleasures by exposing Optimus Prime: an Energon ax which is fixed on the right arm by threading a Technic axis after having removed the hand of the character, an ionic blaster which was present in the toy of reference and which ends here either in the hand of Optimus Prime or in the back of the tractor, a removable jetpack borrowed from Sideswipe (the Lamborghini Countach in the original series, a Corvette Stingray in the films) which gives a little volume on the back of the construction and which significantly improves the finish, a simple but effective Energon cube and the Matrix of Power (Matrix of Leadership) which is stored behind the windshield of the vehicle.

This last accessory is summarized here in its simplest form, but its presence is appreciable. Everything is accompanied by a small presentation plate which as usual amplifies the collector's side of the product and tries to justify the price. Nothing crazy about this plate dressed in a sticker, it just lists the different abilities of Optimus Prime.

For those who are wondering and who have not bothered to check: Optimus Prime is a little smaller than Voltron, 35 cm against a little over 40 cm high.

10302 lego transformers optimus prime 2

Personally, I am really convinced by this product even if its overall aesthetic is not perfect. It is indeed a Transformers as Hasbro proposed it in 1984 and the contract is also completely fulfilled with the possibility of transforming the Autobot into a truck without complicated manipulations and that is the main thing.

Did this robot deserve to be stamped 18+ and to be presented as an exhibition model? It will be up to everyone to judge according to their affinity with the Transformers license and their perception of the tribute paid here to a toy that is nearly 40 years old. Many fans would no doubt have appreciated a version based on the films released in theaters since 2007 but it will not be for this time. This derivative product does indeed deal with the same subject but from another era and the few minutes devoted to learning the conversion phase of the Autobot into a truck are in my opinion well worth the investment in this product which gives pride of place to the nostalgia of a whole generation of fans.

75325 lego starwars mandalorian n1 starfighter 1

Today we take a quick look at the contents of the LEGO Star Wars set 75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter, a box of 412 pieces currently in pre-order on the official online store and which will be available from June 1, 2022 at the retail price of €59.99. Almost everything has already been said since the announcement of this product derived from the series The Book of Boba Fett broadcast on the Disney + platform, everyone has therefore had plenty of time to judge the interest of the means of transport which has replaced the Razor Crest since the explosion of the latter.

This derivative product is a children's toy, so you shouldn't expect an ultra-detailed or chrome-plated version of the old N-1 fighter tinkered with by Peli Motto in his Mos Eisley hangar. It is very quickly assembled, the whole is not too fragile and there is something to have fun with the Spring shooter concealed under the nose of the aircraft.

Those who haven't taken the time to carefully read the official product description will no doubt have missed out on the section detailing the build dimensions: upon arrival, the fighter measures 42cm long and 29cm tall. wide, so you will have to make room on your shelves to display the thing.

75325 lego starwars mandalorian n1 starfighter 8

75325 lego starwars mandalorian n1 starfighter 7

We will remember the beautiful design effort on the two engines of the hunter with a relatively detailed finish for a product in this price bracket, an acceptable finish without being perfect which contrasts with the more bland and summary or even coarse side of the rest of the cabin. The reactors are on arrival not really faithful to those seen on the screen but the intention is there and that's already it. We can install Din Djarin at the controls and slide Grogu into the astromech droid slot placed just behind the cockpit, that's already it. The Mandalorian cannot keep his jetpack on his back and pilot his machine, it will be necessary to remove the accessory and store it in the hold placed just in front of the pilot before installing the figurine.

The product does not escape the stickers but their number remains relatively reasonable with only three stickers. One could reproach me for marveling at not much, but three stickers for a product of 412 pieces and of this size, it is in my opinion rather good news.

I pointed out to you a few days ago that the windshield of the DeLorean of the set 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine and canopy from the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set 75341 Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder were both protected by a piece of plastic, this is not the case here for the two canopies provided. LEGO will no doubt have judged that these are too small to deserve this consideration or the manufacturer may imagine that they will end up damaged anyway by the children who will inherit this box.

As for the minifigs provided, the casting is perfectly in line with the theme: we get Din Djarin, Grogu, Peli Motto and a comic book droid. the presence of Peli Motto with his adjustable wrench and one of his assistants reinforces the impression that perhaps a trolley with tools, a piece of wall or a pile of mechanical parts is missing to really put it all in context. As it is, Din Djarin can take a ship ride in space but there isn't really much fun on the ground.

75325 lego starwars mandalorian n1 starfighter 9

The Mandalorian minifig is nothing new apart from the face which finally replaces here the usual black and neutral head which equips the different versions of the character already marketed. The helmet, torso and legs are elements available in several sets since 2021 and it is therefore necessary to be satisfied with the unique stylized face of Pedro Pascal to really consider this minifigure as “unpublished”. Difficult to really see the face of the actor but the pad printing is successful. Still no Darksaber with a specific mold, it's a bit of a shame.

The figurine of Peli Motto seems rather convincing to me, the torso conforms to the outfit seen on the screen, the face manages to make us vaguely recognize the features of Amy Sedaris and the hair used seems appropriate to me. Grogu is equal to himself with his slightly sloppy Kinder toy look, head and hands are still not the same green. Finally, the BD droid provided is too anecdotal to convince me. The part is well designed for a robot of this scale but I would have preferred a gray color and the whole thing is sorely lacking in pad printing. This will probably be the second element of the set definitely lost by the youngest, just after the flexible extension at the tail of the vessel.

We will make with this modest interpretation of the N-1 hunter modified while waiting for better, a version Ultimate Collector Series with many chrome elements may one day enter the LEGO catalog. It is not forbidden to dream.
