LEGO Marvel 76140 Iron Man Mech, 76141 Thanos Mech and 76146 Spider-Man Mech

Today we are doing a group shot around the LEGO Marvel sets 76140 Iron Man Mech (148 pieces), 76141 Thanos Mech (152 pieces) and 76146 Spider-Man Mech (152 pieces), three small boxes sold for € 9.99 which allow you to assemble mechs for Iron Man, Thanos and Spider-Man. Everyone knows these three characters never move around without their competitive exoskeletons, with their respective powers and firepower being too limited. Or not.

Admitting that these three superheroes really need mechs, I think LEGO doesn't fare too badly in interpreting the different versions. Visually, we are in the universe of the character concerned, whether in terms of the assortment of colors used or the various attributes that refer to his emblematic characteristics.

However, and despite their aesthetic differences, these different mechs have a lot in common: their structure is similar with a slew of Ball Seals which allow many poses. And this is the whole point of these three slightly gaunt mechs: they are incredibly flexible thanks to the large number of integrated joints and a relatively limited dressing of the limbs which avoids too much stopping points. restrictive.

The obvious compromise between the level of detail and the functionality of these products seems acceptable to me for small sets at 10 € intended for the youngest who can really take advantage of all the flexibility offered here in terms of poses, provided they find the right point. balance for each of these poses.

LEGO Marvel 76140 Iron Man Mech, 76141 Thanos Mech and 76146 Spider-Man Mech

Each of these mechs therefore has its peculiarities which make it immediately identifiable and associate it with the character who must take place in the cockpit: Spider-Man can launch from the canvas thanks to the Technic pin placed in the palm of each of the hands which allows to plug in the elements that are generally found in the hands of the character's minifigure, Iron-Man has repulsors under his feet and in the palm of his hands and a missile launcher placed behind the right shoulder and Thanos is obviously equipped with his glove on which we find the six Infinity Stones.

There are quite a few stickers to stick on the different pieces of armor here, and Thanos' mech uses the fewest stickers. For each of the mechs, the pieces attached to the torso are pad printed with a spider for Spider-Man, an armor detail on a Nexo Knights shield for Thanos, and a Face Reactor for Iron Man.

The piece that serves as a torso for the different mechs is not new, it is the one that was already used in red in the set. 70363 Battle Suit Macy released in 2017 in the LEGO Nexo Knights range. The version in Pearl Gold used here for Thanos' mech is the one that was delivered in 2018 in the Nexo Knights set 72004 Tech Wizard Showdown. A version Dark Red in my opinion would have been welcome for the Iron Man mech.

Please note that the Tile round to plug on the torso of the Spider-Mech is not exclusive to the set presented here, it is also available in the set 76149 The Menace of Mysterio which we will talk about shortly.

LEGO Marvel 76140 Iron Man Mech, 76141 Thanos Mech and 76146 Spider-Man Mech

No big surprise on the back of the different mechs, the level of detail is sufficient and does not shock. Spider-Man's even has the luxury of having extensions in the spirit of the Iron Spider armor. The only finishing detail that seems awkward to me here: The gray piece used on Iron Man's hands with its two extensions, only one of which is used for the thumb, the other remaining visible on the back. It was enough to use the Plate 1 x 2 with a single equivalent extension to avoid this somewhat unsightly growth.

The Iron Man mech missile launcher is also well integrated even if one distinguishes for these two accessories the blue pins which serve as fixing points. Iron Man's mech is also the only one of the three to have a really functional weapon. Thanos' mech takes advantage of a few golden pieces that give the armor a little cachet.

Thanks to these three small boxes, we logically obtain three minifigs. That of Spider-Man is far from unseen, it is the figurine already delivered in 2019 in the sets 76133 Spider-Man Car Chase et 76134 Spider-Man: Doc Ock Diamond Heist, then in sets 76147 Vulture's Trucker Robbery et 76149 The Menace of Mysterio marketed this year.

LEGO Marvel 76140 Iron Man Mech, 76141 Thanos Mech and 76146 Spider-Man Mech

The new Iron Man minifig delivered in the 76140 set is equipped with a one-piece helmet without a movable visor, one wonders why LEGO is delivering us a double-sided head with a version displaying the character's HUD. Judging by the shape of theFace Reactor, this version of Iron Man is directly inspired by the Marvel's Avengers video game, the release of which was initially scheduled for May 2020 but has been postponed until next September.

Thanos is also new and those who were impatiently waiting for an acceptable minifigure version of the character that fits into their Ribba frame will be in heaven, just to replace that of the Mighty Micros set. 76072 Iron Man vs. Thanos released in 2017. If we accept this new interpretation of the character on a reduced scale, we can consider that the pad printing of the outfit and the face of Thanos are quite convincing.

The helmet would have in my opinion deserved a few reasons to increase the level of detail of the piece which seems to me here a little too neutral. It also lacks an accessory in the hands of Thanos, Spider-Man having the right to a few canvases to assemble and Iron-Man to expellable blue lightning to attach to the hands.

LEGO Marvel 76140 Iron Man Mech, 76141 Thanos Mech and 76146 Spider-Man Mech

In summary, I think that for 10 €, we get here something to please a young fan of the Marvel universe who asks for more than minifigs to really have fun. The different mechs have a dozen points of articulation that allow a wide range of movements for even more "realistic" play sessions.

The similarity of the structure between the three models also allows the creation of hybrid mechs to extend the experience. The overall aesthetic of these three models is not overflowing with creativity, but it was certainly the price to pay to keep all their playability and mobility to different mechs.

Note: The set of three sets presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at 26th February 2020 next at 23pm.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

Today we quickly tour the LEGO Disney set 43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures (133 pieces - € 19.99), a slightly atypical product that features micro-dolls in a buildable decor, all wrapped in a plastic box that vaguely takes the form of a storybook and generously sprinkled with stickers.

The principle of the plastic box that serves as both a storage case, transport and a playground is not new at LEGO: Capsules (Pods), cubic boxes from the LEGO Friends range or even arcade machines from the Ninjago range, the manufacturer is trying things out. Here, the box takes the form of a book at the heart of which the playset part remains installed. Why not. This is not a book pop-up, it is necessary to fold and unfold by hand the portions of the construction which prevent the closing of the box. The inside of the left part of the book is pad printed with gray tiling, the other part is neutral.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

No instruction booklet in the usual format in this set, you have to be content with a folded sheet similar to those present in the polybags. LEGO probably made some savings with this change of format and the set did not deserve a thirty-page notebook with its 133 parts from which you have to remove the large parts of the book and the micro-dolls. The fact remains that at 20 € the box, this sheet of fine paper is a little cheap.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

Even if there are also some pad printed parts in this box, we do not escape some stickers with two sheets of stickers. Fortunately, the illustration to be placed in the center of the book cover is pad printed. It remains to stick the illustration of the edge and the label which allows to add the name of the owner of the work on the back.

The larger of the two sheets of stickers is available to the most creative who can have fun decorating the inside (or the outside) of the book with the different stickers available. No specific instructions, you decide. The intention is laudable although I tend to consider replacing plastic parts with simple stickers to "flesh out" the content as a technique a little disappointing.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

The cover of the book is broken down into three large molded parts that must be assembled together using Technic pins. The outside of the box is a little poor in decorations and the few illustrations are not enough to give a little cachet to the whole. There are a few studs on the corners of the book but LEGO does not provide parts to dress these spaces. As it is ultimately more of a carrying case than anything else, LEGO has no doubt deliberately limited the risk of losing parts or damaging the shell.

The result is a bit bland, despite the presence of a rather well-made locking latch with its pad-printed lock, and we quickly realize that the book is much more compact than what the official visuals suggested. Be careful, the latch does not really block the opening of the book, it only fits on a tenon.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

On the minifigure side, LEGO is innovating with a new format: micro-dolls. These figures are equipped with heads similar to those supplied with the classic mini-doll figures from the Friends, Elves or Disney sets, but the eyes here are oversized and the body of the characters has dramatically lost in volume and mobility. Thinking back, we've never been so close to the figurines that we sometimes find in Kinder Surprise eggs, even if the pad printing here is of a much higher level than what we find in chocolate eggs.

Elsa, Anna and Kristoff are accompanied by the inevitable Olaf who has also suffered a violent shrinkage and who is content to resume his usual head here posed on a white head of classic pad-printed minifig. The arms of the different characters are fixed, it is just possible to slip a suitable accessory into the hole in the hands.

43175 Anna and Elsa's Storybook Adventures

In the end, the book format is only a pretext for a simple storage box to take in the car or on the train. The contents of the set will occupy the youngest during a trip a little boring, that's always taken and we can therefore consider that here LEGO solves a problem often encountered by parents who prepare suitcases for the holidays: how to take LEGOs without putting them in a simple bag and keeping a playset in perfect condition on arrival.

20 € for a not very sexy storage box, the few parts provided and four characters that don't really look like the LEGO products we are used to anymore, in my opinion it's really too expensive. As a bonus, this reference is the one that offers the most content among the four existing all sold at the same public price: 43174 Mulan's Storybook Adventures (124 pieces), 43176 Ariel's Storybook Adventures (105 pieces) and 43177 Belle's Storybook Adventures (111 rooms).

60253 Ice Cream Truck

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO CITY set 60253 Ice Cream Truck (200 pieces - € 19.99), a small box that offers something to get out of the usual triptych of police / firefighters / construction workers.

It is indeed a question here of assembling an ice cream truck which is moreover not quite adapted to our roads: if the steering wheel of the vehicle is placed in the center of the cabin, the counter which allows customers to be served is on the left side of the vehicle. Not very practical in countries where you drive on the right ... The more picky should however not have too much trouble reversing the direction of construction of the two side faces of the vehicle if the need arises.

There is nothing very complicated to assemble in this box intended for young fans who want to bring a little variety in Policeville. The most laborious is once again the large batch of stickers to stick. The board is also surprisingly provided for a set supposed to be assembled by children aged five and over. The good news is that most stickers could dress up the front of an ice cream shop without any problem, and you can easily find copies of this board retailing for under $ 1. on Bricklink.

60253 Ice Cream Truck

The designer has thought of facilitating access to the interior of the vehicle by offering a movable side panel that allows the merchant to be easily placed in front of her counter. It's perfectly integrated and playability is assured even if little fingers will do better than those of an adult. The interior layout is rather basic but the cash register, a few cones and other scoops of ice cream are enough in my opinion to fill the cabin without limiting access. On the other side of the van, a sliding window allows customers to be served. Here too, the mechanism is simple but functional.

Impossible not to guess that it is an ice cream truck thanks to the big sign fixed on the roof. The latter is dressed with two large stickers so that both sides are covered. No significant difference in color between the blue background of the stickers and the room on which to install them. It is less obvious for stickers on a white background to stick on parts with an off-white color.

As usual, make sure when you unpack the set that the transparent parts are not scratched and do not hesitate to contact the brand's customer service to obtain replacement parts if this is the case.

60253 Ice Cream Truck

In terms of minifigs, the set only provides the basics: an ice cream seller, a young customer on his skateboard and a dog. The merchant's torso is a new variation of the one seen on different characters in the sets 10232 Palace Cinema (2013) 10246 Detective Office (2015) et 10257 Carousel (2017) without the yellow neckline.

The rest of the items delivered in this small box are quite common, the dog even appearing already in about forty sets and the young boy's hair is that already seen on the head of Nick Fury, Dennis Nedry, Viktor Krum or even Lando Calrissian and Finn.

60253 Ice Cream Truck

In summary, there is no reason to deprive yourself of this pretty truck with its sign on the roof and its thoughtful features that ensure maximum playability throughout. With a little patience, as usual, it will be possible to spend much less than the 20 € requested by LEGO to add a little variety to the streets of your cities using sets from the LEGO CITY range.

And a little competition with the other ice cream parlor, the one from The LEGO Movie set 70804 Ice Cream Machine marketed in 2014 will be welcome ...

Note: The set presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at 22th February 2020 next at 23pm.

lego starwars 75263 75264 75265 microfighters 2020 review hothbricks 1

Today we take a quick look at the LEGO Star Wars sets 75263 Resistance Y-Wing Microfighter (86 pieces - 9.99 €), 75264 Kylo Ren's Shuttle Microfighter (72 pieces - 9.99 €) and 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters (198 pieces - 19.99 €), three small boxes which join the already very long list of vehicles and vessels in the format microfighters.

The concept does not seem to tire fans and LEGO continues to expand this range while other ideas at least as original as the small boxes in the range Planet Series or Mighty Pickups Marvel and DC Comics left the manufacturer's catalog in 2013 and 2018, respectively.

No big surprise in the sets 75263 Resistance Y-Wing Microfighter et 75264 Kylo Ren's Shuttle Microfighter, we obtain two micro-vessels in which we can install the characters provided. It's chibi, it's cute, it's quickly assembled, it doesn't take up too much space and it's not too expensive. Kylo Ren's shuttle even has the luxury of having movable wings, and both ships are equipped with expellable ammunition. Guaranteed playability for the youngest.

The and 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters offers an assembly experience to share with two separate pouches and two instruction booklets that allow the Bantha and T-16 Skyhopper to be assembled separately.

The T-16 Skyhopper, an unknown device from the saga that we only see furtively in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones et Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is according to all encyclopedic sites dedicated to the Star Wars universe a airspeeder high performance on which Luke learned to fly with Biggs Darklighter. Of which act.

If many MOCeurs have offered more or less convincing reproductions of the machine over the years, LEGO has not made it a chestnut tree in its range with only two sets since 1999: references 4477 (2003) and 75081 (2015). This new micro-version, failing to be in the classic format, will therefore allow fans to wait while waiting for something better.

The model is acceptable given the improbable design of the vehicle and other than the blue Technic pins visible in the rear and in the cockpit when the provided character is not seated at the controls, I don't have much of his own. reproach.

This set also allows us to assemble a creature from the Star Wars bestiary, as was already the case in the set. 75228 Escape Pod vs. Dewback released in 2019. I know that many figure collectors prefer molded creatures, but we can't fault LEGO for not sticking to the concept of the construction toy.

The Bantha delivered here is roughly on par with last year's Dewback, with its strengths and weaknesses. It's a little coarse, the neck joint based on Ball joint is really visible and the peeling effect is symbolic. It was a priori difficult to do better on this scale despite the intensive use of Wedges with 45 ° cutout.

As with the Dewback, I once again salute the designer's risk-taking, but I hope to be entitled to a molded version of the animal soon. We will also welcome the use of Wampa horns last seen in 2016 in the set. 75098 Assault on Hoth, it works. As with the T-16 Skyhopper, the blue Technic pins used to secure the horns are a bit too visible for my liking.

lego starwars 75263 75264 75265 microfighters 2020 review hothbricks 12

As for the four minifigs that these different boxes allow to obtain, two of these three sets offer a good opportunity for those who do not have to do with bricks to add a few characters to their collections without spending a fortune: Kylo's minifig Ren is identical to that delivered in the set 75256 Kylo Ren's Shuttle (129.99 €) and Zorii Bliss was so far only available in the set 75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter marketed since October 2019 at the public price of € 69.99.

The pilot of the T-16 Skyhopper is however for the moment exclusive to the set 75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs. Bantha Microfighters and the Tusken Raider is the one already seen in the set 75270 Obi-Wan's Hut (29.99 €) marketed this year. The Pilot's Helmet will eventually be used by those who want to assemble a version of Dorovio Bold, a female rebel pilot who makes a cameo appearance in theEpisode VI: Return of the Jedi.

lego starwars 75263 75264 75265 microfighters 2020 review hothbricks 11

In my opinion, this new batch of microfighters does not demerit and it allows as a bonus to get some minifigs available only in much more expensive sets. The arrival of creatures in the sets of two constructions is not a bad idea but I can easily understand those who would have preferred a craft or a ship instead of these rather rude animals. The other mini-constructions are very correct and if you have embarked on the collection of this range launched in 2014 which today exceeds thirty references, you have no reason not to continue.

Note: The set of three sets presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at 18th February 2020 next at 23pm.

75268 Snowspeeder

Today we quickly tour the LEGO Star Wars set 75268 Snowspeeder (91 pieces - € 19.99), a small box stamped "4+" with easy to assemble content and plenty of fun quickly.

As often with this sub-range which offers products accessible to the youngest, we are in a format very close to that of the Microfighters range with a compact machine of very rough proportions. Nothing serious if we consider that the target of the product would not have to do with an ultra-detailed model and that the Snowspeeder exists in other more successful versions, including that of the set 75259 Snowspeeder marketed since 2019 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range.

No stickers here to prevent the youngest from having difficulty when applying the stickers and the four pieces which are decorated with patterns, two control panels, the canopy and the nose of the Snowspeeder, are all pad printed. The most observers will have noted that this Snowspeeder is an imaginary version which only allows the installation of the driver.

75268 Snowspeeder

Because you have to be able to have fun quickly, LEGO provides a Snowtrooper and his Speeder Bike with an ultra-simplified design. As a bonus, you also need to assemble a Hoth mini-base with a Tiles round. This is the only feature of the set, the two devices are not equipped with projectile launchers.

By the way, I wonder who really are these four or five year old children to whom parents offer this type of set. Unless you absolutely want to impose your own culture on your kids and force them to watch the saga from a young age, I think the majority of children this age have other interests than the original Star Wars trilogy. .. Even if it means trying to attract future customers for its most expensive sets in the range, LEGO could go smoothly by possibly declining in 4+ format products for example based on the animated series Star Wars Resistance, it would seem to me. more reasonable and consistent.

75268 Snowspeeder

Above, you will find an exploded view of the Snowspeeder which shows the level of simplification of the construction. Note that the instructions are spread over two booklets, one for the Snowspeeder and the other for the Speeder Bike and the mini-base, which allows two young fans to share the assembly of the set.

The more creative can try to reuse the large white base that serves as a support for the parts of the Snowspeeder to make it the front of a larger vessel or boat. This is the same piece as the gray one that was used in 2019 as a support for Benny's spaceship in The LEGO Movie 2 set. 70821 Emmet and Benny's 'Build and Fix' Workshop! and basic for the A-Wing of the set 75247 Rebel A-Wing Starfighter.

75268 Snowspeeder

LEGO delivers only two characters in this small box, a rebel pilot and a Snowtrooper. The pilot's outfit is the one already used for many characters: Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter, Dutch Vander, Dak Ralter or even Luke Skywalker and the character's head is also rather common because it has already been seen on a slew of rebel pilots since 2014. The helmet is that of Wedge Antilles who, accompanied by his gunner Wes Janson, participated in the Battle of Hoth at the controls of a Snowspeeder.

The Snowtrooper is equipped with the outfit available since 2019 in sets 75239 Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack et 75241 Action Battle Echo Base Defense. Under the helmet ... the usual edgy Clone head. No Stud Shooters in the hands of the two characters, one obtains good old classic blasters.

75268 Snowspeeder

Come on, there is nothing to spend long hours (over) analyzing the contents of this small box of less than 100 pieces sold at the exaggerated price of 19.99 €. Someone in the marketing department will have decided that the "recruitment" of customers for the LEGO Star Wars range should begin as early as 4 years old and LEGO is clearly taking advantage of the habit that some parents have of paying full price for DUPLO sets by making them. prompting a still costly transition.

Note: The set presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at 15th February 2020 next at 23pm.

Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.
